Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the health status, and disease distribution in the elderly according to their Sasang constitutions. Methods: A total of 196 elderly in Sungjugun Kyungsangbukdo were interviewed for this study. Data were collected from 1 July, 2002 to 31 July, 2002. Results: The distribution of constitutions of the subjects were So-yang 30.4%, So-eum 12.6%, Tae-eum 57.0% in elderly men, and So-yang 32.5%, So-eum 16.2%, Tae-yang 8.6%, Tae-eum 42.7% in elderly women. Especially, there are Tae-yang 8.6% in elderly women. Conclusions: Subjective health status according to Sasang constitutions, less of Tae-yang elderly reported that their health status was not well but more of these individual reported that their health status was good compared with other groups. On the other hand, more of So-eum elderly reported that their health status was not well but less of these individual reported that their health status was good compared with other groups.
This study was conducted to provide a basis for developing strategies to improve the intention to quit smoking by identifying the factors affecting the smoking cessation intention of male smokers living in Seoul who have not tried to quit smoking in the past year. The components of the planned behavioral theory were used to identify the influencing factors. The research data were analysed secondary data used in the study performed by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 2020. As a result of the univariate analysis, the factors affecting the smoking cessation intention rate were the average daily smoking amount and the components of the TPB. As a result of multivariate logistic regression analysis, the subjective norm and the perceived behavior control factor among the components of the TPB had statistically significant differences. Therefore, in order to increase the intention to quit smoking, it would be effective to use strategies that strengthen the strong recommendations from significant others and the smoker's self control.
The purpose of this study was to access the effects of detoxification of hair by SUKI(silver tools). The subjects of this study participated 26 persons(EG 13 and CG 13), Experimental group was performed SUKI programs combined with scalp and hair for two times per week, during 8 weeks. The results was of comparison of variations in each groups showed that there was a significant difference(6items) in the experimental group(p<.05). But 2items(Pb, Cs) was not showed it. Among the hazardous heavy metals in research, Al, Ba and Hg showed the greatest reduction rate of difference. Thus, the using of the SUKI tool has been shown to affect some heavy metal emissions (p<.05). In conclusion, it is thought that it can be used as basic data for heavy metal discharge of scalp through continuous research in the future.
Two-spotted spider mite (TSSM), Tetranychus urticae Koch (Acari: Tetranychidae) is one of the major pests in apple orchards. TSSM was known to show different population dynamics depending on apple cultivars. We tested the host plant preference and fitness of TSSM on the leaves of 3 apple cultivars, Fuji, Tsugaru, and Hongro. TSSM showed higher behavioral preference to Fuji than Tsugaru and Hongro, and showed a higher fecundity in Fuji. The immature development of this mite was the shortest in Fuji and longest in Hongro. Total fecundities were not significantly different among cultivars, but daily fecundity was higher and longevity was lower in Fuji. Hongro was the less preferred cultivar for TSSM, and showed the lowest fitness by life table parameters. These results could explain the possible mechanisms of differential population dynamics among apple cultivars. Further study including diverse apple cultivars currently available in Korea could help to deploy time- and cultivar- specific IPM tactics.
Purposes: This study is to examine the causes of limitations of modern western science and philosophy through Ayurvedic thought, and to seek the path of holism for the development of national healing projects. Methods: Therefore, it was inferred that the background of modern Western civilization and the reality of the national healing project would share the flow. In order to examine this, the difference between the East and West's 'recognition of the body and the mind' and the 'perspective on the origin of existence' was examined, and the characteristics of the Ayurvedic five-element novel were examined. Results: Through that process, the "mind and body dualism" in the West and the absence of the "empty element( 空 Śunya)" in Western four-element novels were pointed out as the cause of the limitations. In the sense that the 'empty element' is an invisible world and an immaterial world, it was concluded that the absence of justice was a limitation of Western civilization and a problem of the reality of the national healing project. Conclusions: I hope that this study will lead to continuous research on Ayurvedic ideology and research in the field of natural healing, thus contributing to the development of national healing projects and leading to health, well-being, and self-healing of the people.
Purpose: For the health of pet dogs and to reduce harm to humans, we investigated the preference of pet dogs on cushions made from functional ocher textile, which is known to be beneficial to human health. Methods: The preference of 12 small dogs between cushions made using functional ocher textile and normal yellow colored fabrics was observed. Results: The observation study showed 83.3% preference on cushions made from functional ocher textile where dogs rested or slept mostly. The biting behavior was improved by 83.3%. After using the functional cushions, four dogs with eye disease, one with eczema, and two with allergy showed improvements while others showed no improvement. After the experience, 50% of dogs became quieter. 87.5% of dogs showed more mild temperament. Conclusions: The functional ocher cushions showed preferences by dogs as well as brought positive improvements with the temperament and health conditions. This study proves to be a valuable fundamental research in this field of functional ocher cushions.
This study was to identify the influence of awareness of medical institution certification, job satisfaction, nursing performance of psychiatric nurses. The participants were 140 psychiatric nurses and data was collected with questionnaire during Aug, 2018 to Oct, 2018. The result of this study, awareness of medical institution certification was 3.35 points, job satisfaction was 3.32 points, nursing performance was 3.74 points. The factors affecting the nursing performance were job satisfaction and current work experience, these variables explained 40.2% of the variance. The results of this study, it can be used as basic data for improving nursing performance of psychiatric nurses.
In this paper, TI was measured to classify the presence or absence of mild left ventricular diastolic dysfunction. Of the total 306 data, 206 were used as training data and 100 were used as test data, and the machine learning models used for classification used SVM and KNN. As a result, it was confirmed that SVM showed relatively higher accuracy than KNN and was more useful in diagnosing the presence of left ventricular diastolic dysfunction. In future research, it is expected that classification performance can be further improved by adding various indicators that evaluate not only TI but also cardiac function and securing more data. Furthermore, it is expected to be used as basic data to predict and classify other diseases and solve the problem of insufficient medical manpower compared to the increasing number of tests.
Objective : The role of female medical personnel in traditional East Asian societies was limited. It might be said that there are no known female medical practitioners in the history of East Asian medicine. However, in the case of Joseon, there was a system for female medical personnel, Euinyeo(醫女). After the late 19th century, women's social activities in Joseon were expanded by Christian missionaries who entered Joseon In somehow, and efforts to train female medical personnel were also growing. The authors are trying to get the actual operation aspect of Gyeongseong Women's Medical College, established in 1938 after ten years of effort from establishing the Gyeongseong Women's medical school in 1928. Methods : Through the 『Gyeongseong Women's Medical College Catalog(京城女子醫學專門學校一覽)』 in 1941, owned by the Handok Museum, the authors researched the operation aspects of Gyeongseong Women's Medical College from the application for establishment in 1937 and the opening of the school in 1938 to 1941 when the College Catalog was published. Results & Conclusion : In the early 20th century, when various medical institutions were appearing in Joseon, it could be said that the role of Gyeongseong Women's Medical College is noteworthy with the fact that a specialized medical college for women has been established and operated to train female medical personnel separately.
Introduction : Oral motor function is basic function of sensory exploration, feeding, and communication, that develops from the fetal stage to childhood. Problems with oral motor function result in difficulty within handling food in the oral cavity, decreased swallowing and feeding skills, difficulty with communication, and problems with oral hygiene. To treat these symptoms, oral motor therapy is provided for normalizing sensory adaptation in the oral cavity, and increasing postural control, oral movement and oral motor function. Discussion : The oral motor facilitation technique (OMFT) was developed for increasing general and integrated oral motor function based on the following: 1) understanding orofacial muscular physiology; 2) a comprehensive approach to sensory·adaptation·behavior·cognition; 3) sensorimotor stimulation by a manual approach; 4) motor control and motor learning theory. The OMFT is a new evidence-based treatment protocol, for children and adults with neuromuscular and oral motor problems. Conclusion : The goal of this article is to provide a theoretical background for OMFT development and the basic concept for the clinical application of OMFT. We hope that this article will help oral motor therapy experts to provide effective therapy in a more professional way.
