  • The Loop Heat Pipe (LHP) operates to pump the working fluid by means of the capillary force in a wick structure. Particularly, it is difficult to design and manufacture the evaporator consisted of a grooved container and a compensation chamber as well as the wick structure. This study is related to design and manufacture the grooved container coupled with wick structure, the properties of the wick structure such as the permeability, the porosity, and the maximum capillary pressure were measured to apply the cooling technology for Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT). The container of the LHP was manufactured by the electrical discharge process and the wick structure was sintered with the nickel particle by an axial-press apparatus with the pulse electronic discharge. As results, the properties of the wick were experimentally obtained about 60% of the porosity, 35kPa of the maximum capillary force and $1.53{\times}10-13m2$ of the permeability.

  • A new marine interstitial nematode species belonging to the subgenus Quadricoma of order Desmoscolecida is described from Jindo Island, South Korea. The new species, Tricoma (Quadricoma) jindoensis sp. nov., is most allied with T. (Q.) crassicomoides Timm, 1970 in sharing the similar cephalic setae, broadly truncated border of head, lip region including 6 labial papillae, and slender and long spicule among the seven congeners with 44 quadricomoid rings. However, T. (Q.) jindoensis differs from it by the globular protuberance on the penultimate ring, 7 tail rings, and 9 pairs of subdorsal setae in male. This is the first record of Quadricoma nematodes from East Asia.

  • Bopyrid isopods collected from 35 localities in Korea were examined. Twelve species in 12 genera were identified and classified onto 7 subfamilies, of which following 8 species are new to Korea : Metaboyrus ovalis Shiino, Bopyrissa pyriforma (shiino), Ione cornuta Spence Bate, Parapenaeonella distincta Shiino, Bopyriodes Hippolytes (Kroyer), Pseudostegias dulicilacuum Markham, Athelges takanoshimensis Ishii and Eophrixus shojii Shiino. Athelges japonicus Shiino is found out to be a junior synonym of a.takanoshimensis Ishii. Eight unrecorded scpecies in Korea are descried with figures. Other two species , Apocepon pulcher Nierstrasz et Brender Brandis and Argeia pugettensis Dana. Are provided with figures.

  • The present study on the classified and distribution of Korean marine archeogastropods is mainly based on the materials which were collected by the authors from July, 1979 to August, 1988 to 60 localities in the south Korean continental shelf. In addition to the 52 species and 8 subspecies of archeogastropods that have been reported from Korean waters, 9 species are found to be new to the fauna of Korea ; Diodora sieboldii (Reeve), Montfortula pulchra A. Adams, Colisella langfordi Habe, Notoacmea gloriosa Habe, Mesoclanculus ater (Pilsbry) , Cantharidus hirasei (Pilsbry), Guildfordia triumphans (Pilsbry), Tristichotrochus aculeatus (Sowerby), Homalopoma sangarense(Schrenck). The Korean marine archeogatropod fauna comprises 4 suborders, 5 superfamilies 10 families , 61 species and 8 subspecies. The authors listed the scienfic name of the korean archeogastropods in correct and described the unrcorded species from korea with keys to species and families.

  • A single leptocephalus specimen of Albula glossodonta belonging to the family Albulidae under the order Albuliformes, was collected from the southern sea of Korea in May 21, 2019. This species is distinguished from A. vulpes in the number of melanophores at the base of the caudal fin. In addition, our specimen was readily distinguished from A. argentea in having no melanophores on the operculum, at the base of the dorsal fin and in front of the pectoral fin. Also it was well distinguished from A. gilberti in having no melanophores on the operculum, in front of the pectoral fin and on the lateral body. A molecular analysis based on 467 bp sequences of the mitochondrial DNA 16S rRNA shows that the leptocephalus is well matched to A. glossodonta adult (K2P distance=0.002). We report the first occurrence of A. glossodonta leptocephalus in the Korean waters, and propose it's new Korean name, "Nam-bang-yeoeul-myeol".

  • A public management paradigm matters for public enterprises as it has a direct impact on their business management and the performance evaluation on public institutions by the Ministry of Strategy and Finance. This research reviews key theories about public management that has attracted attention since the 1980s: New Public Management (NPM), New Public Governance (NPG), and New Public Service (NPS). These paradigms represent their unique features in terms of efficiency, networks, and public service, and have their own merits and shortcomings. This research asserts that more integrated and multi-dimensional approaches to the public management theories are needed to effectively cope with rapidly changing environments for public enterprises.

  • A single postlarva (9.72 mm in standard length) specimen of Crossorhombus azureus (Alcock, 1889) belonging to the family Bothidae, was collected using a bongo net from the southern sea of Korea on December 10, 2019. This species is characterized by having spines on post basipterygial processes. It has two eyes located at the opposite side in head, which accordingly belongs to pre-metamorphosis stage. Melanophores are distributed on the dorsal and anal fin base on the right side (blind side), which is regarded as a useful identification key distinguishing C. azureus from congeneric species in their postlarval stage. A molecular analysis based on mitochondrial DNA COI sequences showed that our specimen was closely matched to adult C. azureus (K2P distance = 0.017). As there is no Korean name for the genus Crossorhombus in spite of presence of Crossorhombus kobensis and its Korean name "Go-be-dung-geul-neob-chi" in Korea, we proposed a new Korean name "Dung-geul-neob-chi-sog" for the genus Crossorhombus and "Pa-lang-dung-geul-neob-chi" for the species C. azureus.
