A Study on the Trade Insurance System through Risk Management of Trade Payment of Korea's Export and Import Manufacturing Companies (한국수출기업의 무역대금결제의 위험관리에 따른 무역보험제도에 관한 실증적 연구)

  • World trade has entered a stagnant state, protection trade measures are spread due to delayed economic recovery in developed countries, sluggish investment in emerging economies such as China, economic recession in resource exporting countries, and geopolitical and political uncertainties along with the election period in the US and other major industrialized countries. Thus, in the economic structure of our country with a focus on export, for small and medium enterprises to grow, efforts for having various markets are necessary. The importance of the trade insurance system, which can support the risk management of enterprises, is emphasized by the fact that the majority of SME exporters have a risk management level and a lack of corporate capacity to enter the global market. This study was surveyed with 87 small and medium export companies in South Korea. The purpose of this study is to verify the effect relationship how service quality of trade insurance and utilization of trade insurance impact on the risk management of trade payment and export performance. The research hypothesis and model was derived from the basis of existing theory and empirical research, and obtained the following results. Firstly, Service Quality of Trade Insurance showed positive (+) effect on Export Performance. Secondly, Utilization of Trade Insurance showed positive (+) effect on Risk Management of Trade Payment. Thirdly, Risk Management of Trade Payment showed positive (+) effect on Export Performance. This study is differentiated from previous research information by empirically evaluating the relationship between the risk management of trade payment and export performance through utilization of trade insurance. This study contributed to academic by examining the research on the risk management of trade insurance and also practically suggested the direction how small and medium export company is to take the advantage of the trade insurance.

  • 기업의 입장에서 가장 중요한 이슈 중 하나는 자사에 있는 많은 고객들 중 회사에 수익을 가져다 줄 수 있는 고객이 누구인가라는 문제이다. 이러한 문제에 대한 기업의 고객 관리 전략 중 하나가 '교차판매(Cross-Selling)' 전략이다. 본 연구에서는 국내 A 손해보험사의 고객 데이터베이스를 활용하여 데이터마이닝프로세스가 어떻게 진행되고 있는지를 실제 프로젝트를 중심으로 설명하고자 한다. 특히, 본 연구에서 목표로 하고 있는 것은 기존의 자동차보험에 가입한 고객 중에서 장기보험에 추가로 가입하는 고객을 설명하기 위한 교차판매 스코어링 모델을 개발하는 것이다.

A study on the Economic Effects of Start-up SME's Social Insurance Costs Reduction (창업 중소기업 4대 보험 경감에 따른 경제적 효과에 관한 연구)

  • This study is about the suggestion of reduction method for social insurance cost of startup SMEs Based on the study abroad and the current status of Korea we suggest several methods such as direct and indirect support, exemption, deferment/loan. For the economic effect analysis, we derived benefits and costs. Employment, value added, and revenue increasing effects are considered as benefits. Costs are analyzed by each method. In case of exemption, the analysis is impossible. Analysis results show that direct and deferment/loan case have an effect of 563,469 jobs creation, added value of 26.82 trillion wons, and increase in tax revenues about 82.4 billion wons. In case of exemption, There are 105,368 jobs creation, 5.02 trillion wons of added value, and 15.4 billion wons of increase in tax revenues. And for each case, there are costs 9.58 trillion won, 5.42 trillion won, 1.79 trillion won.

The Mediating Effect of Trust and Customer-Company Identification(CCID) on the relationship between Service Quality, CSR and Behavioral Intention in Insurance Company (보험회사의 서비스 품질, 사회적 책임활동과 고객행동의도 간의 관계에서의 신뢰 및 고객-기업동일시의 매개효과)

  • This research examines empirically the causal relationship among service quality, CSR, trust, customer-company identification(=CCID), customer's behavioral intention as well as the mediating effect of trust and CCID on the relationship between service quality, CSR and customer's behavioral intention in insurance industry. With this background, this study conducted a statistical analysis based on survey data collected from insurance customers. The result of this empirical study is as follows. First, insurance company's CSR activity has a positive impact on customer's trust and customer-company Identification( =CCID). Second, both customer's trust and CCID have positive and significant effect on customer's behavioral intention. Third, we also find that both trust and CCID has a mediating effect on the relationship between service quality, CSR and customer's behavioral intention. This research shows that CSR activity of insurance company can enhance both customer's trust and CCID, in turn, when CSR activity and service quality is mediated by customer's trust and customer-company identification, it could be linked to customer's behavioral intention such as repurchasing, positive WOM(=word of mouth). This study is likely to contribute to CSR and service marketing research of insurance company.

An analysis of Korea-China FTA Service Chapters and Implications for Further Negotiations Strategy -With special focus on the Insurance Market- (한-중 FTA 서비스 분야의 분석에 따른 향후 추가협상에 대한 시사점 : 보험시장을 중심으로)

  • As Chinese insurance market grows rapidly due to market reforms, China got recognition as second-largest insurance market in the world in 2016. However Korean insurance companies have had difficulties to grow in Chinese insurance market despite Chinese participation in the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the growth of chinese insurance market. The reason for the decline in Korean insurance companies is economic retaliation due to the deployment of THAAD in Korea. However, this is not a fundamental reason. The underlying cause of the effects of economic retaliation is the result of insufficient negotiations in Korea-China FTA services sector. In Service sector of Korea-China FTA, the level of concession between Korea and China differs greatly, when comparing China and South Korea's FTA. In addition, it has only been a few years since China collected the position of the WTO Doha Agenda, which currently deals with concessions on intellectual property rights and services. More important is that the Korea-China FTA service sector, as it stopped short of being protected by the most-favored-nation state treatment level when Korean insurance companies entered China. Further negotiations to supplement the weak points in the Korea-China FTA service sector were promised in December 2017, but international tensions over THAAD deployment made it impossible to hold such negotiations. However, due to changes in international affairs in 2018, the first additional negotiation was decided and held. This paper implicates strategies of further negotiation between Korea and China for service and investment chapter. Consequently, the aim of this paper suggests directions how to re-enter Chinese insurance market to Korean insurance companies.

Introduction of InsurTech and Analysis of Re-Entry into Chinese Insurance Market for Korean Insurance Companies (인슈어테크 도입과 한국 보험회사의 중국 보험시장 재진출 전략 분석 연구)

  • In the recent, Chinese insurance market has taken a introduction of InsurTech. It is a combination of insurance and fintech. This means that the policyholder design their own insurance and take out the policy on-line without insurance planner. This trend is remarkable issue. Growth rate of InsurTech in China have significantly been growing. In addition, Chinese insurance market has kept generally stable and fast growth rate, although Chinese forecasting economic growth is subject to massive uncertainties. Nevertheless, the increase in the number of Korean insurance companies fails to settle into Chinese insurance market due to lack of awareness about newness of Chinese insurance market. Moreover, Korean insurance company in China or planning to enter are not prepared for InsurTech yet. Chinese insurance market is valuable for Korean insurance companies. This paper suggests implications of re-entry into Chinese insurance market to Korean insurance companies by analyzing policies which could make environment to endorse Chinese insurtech and case of Chinese insurtech companies.
