Entropy-Coded Lattice Vector Quantization Based on the Sample-Adaptive Product Quantizer and its Performance for the Memoryless Gaussian Source (표본 적응 프로덕트 양자기에 기초한 격자 벡터 양자화의 엔트로피 부호화와 무기억성 가우시언 분포에 대한 성능 분석)

  • Optimal quantizers in conducting the entropy-constrained quantization for high bit rates have the lattice structure. The quantization process is simple due to the regular structure, and various quantization algorithms are proposed depending on the lattice. Such a lattice vector quantizer (VQ) can be implemented by using the sample-adaptive product quantizer (SAPQ) and its output can also be easily entropy encoded. In this paper, the entropy encoding scheme for the lattice VQ is proposed based on SAPQ, and the performance of the proposed lattice VQ, which is based on SAPQ with the entropy coder, is asymptotically compared as the rate increases. It is shown by experiment that the gain for the memoryless Gaussian source also approaches the theoretic gain for the uniform density case.

A Study on Developing Computer Models of Neuropsychiatric Diseases (신경정신질환의 컴퓨터모델 개발에 관한 연구)

  • In order to understand the pathogenesis and progression of some synaptic loss related neuropsychiatric diseases, We attempted to develop a computer model in this study. We made a simple autoassociative memory network remembering numbers, transformed it into a disease model by pruning synapses, and measured its memory performance as a function of synaptic deletion. Decline in performance was measured as amount of synaptic loss increases and its mode of decline is sudden or gradual according to the mode of synaptic pruning. The developed computer model demonstrated how synaptic loss could cause memory impairment through a series of computer simulations, and suggested a new way of research in neuropsychiatry.

트랩 밀도 변화에 따른 유기 쌍 안정성 소자의 메모리 특성 변화

  • 유기물/무기물 나노복합체는 메모리, 트렌지스터, 발광 다이오드, 태양 전지 소자에 응용이 시도되고 있으나 유기물의 물리적인 특성 때문에 전류 전송 메커니즘 규명에는 충분한 연구가 진행되어 있지 못하다. 유기물/무기물 나노복합소재를 기반으로 차세대 광학소자나 비휘발성 메모리 소자에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있으며, 기억소자의 성능 향상을 위하여 여러 가지 유기물/무기물 나노복합소재를 사용하여 제작한 유기 쌍안정성 소자가 차세대 플렉서블 비휘발성 기억소자로 대두되고 있다. 유기 쌍안정성 소자는 비휘발성 기억 소자 중에서 구조가 간단하고 제작비용이 저렴하며 유연성을 가지기 때문에 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 많은 장점에도 불구하고 유기물에 관한 많은 연구가 이루어지지 않았기 때문에 소자의 동작특성, 재연성 등의 문제점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 유기 쌍 안정성 소자의 전기적 특성을 연구하기 위하여 ZnO 나노입자를 포함한 PMMA 복합층을 사용하여 소자를 제작하고 전기적 특성을 측정하였으며, 유기물/무기물 나노복합소재의 전류 전송 메커니즘을 이론적으로 규명하였다. 트랩밀도 변화가 유기 쌍안정성 소자에 미치는 영향을 연구하기 위하여 C60 층을 삽입하였고, 그 결과 C60이 삽입된 유기 쌍안정성 소자가 향상된 메모리 특성을 보였다. 소자의 제작은 Indium tin oxide가 증착된 유리 기판위에 C60 층을 스핀코팅 방법으로 적층하였다. ZnO 나노 입자와 PMMA를 혼합하여 스핀코팅 방법으로 C60층 위에 박막을 형성한 후, 전극으로 Al을 열증착으로 형성하였다. Space charge limitted current 메커니즘을 이용하여 simulation을 수행하였고 이를 current density - voltage (J-V) 특성과 비교 분석하였다. J-V 특성 결과, simulation결과, 소자의 구조를 통해 유기물/무기물 나노복합소재 기반 메모리 소자의 쓰기, 지우기 및 읽기 동작에 대한 과정을 설명하였다. 또한 C60층을 삽입한 유기물/무기물 나노복합소자를 이용하여 트랩 밀도 변화가 유기 쌍안정성 소자의 전기적 특성에 미치는 영향을 연구하였다.

The Effects of Age and Type of Imperative Statement on Behavioral Intention and Recall (명령문에 대한 행동의도와 기억에 있어서 나이와 명령문 유형이 미치는 영향)

  • Various imperative statements that can be represented in the way in which the product or service is used describe how or how to achieve the goals, or induce or prohibit a specific action. This study focuses on The Effects of age and type of imperative sentence (directive vs. declarative) on behavioral intention and recall. As a result of the experiment, older people who have shorter lives remaining access information in a more emotional way, so they have been rejected by directive (vs. declarative) statements that felt more negative feelings, resulting in lowered behavioral intention. Conversely, the negative feeling caused by directive statements increased salience of directive (vs. declarative) sentence for older people more, which in turn increased memory for older people. Process analysis showed that emotions when exposed to statements mediated these results. The results of this study show that in order to improve consumers' behavioral response and/or the performance of information processing, it is necessary to deeply consider their age and how to construct the statement.

The Relationship of Market Orientation, Organizational Learning and Innovativeness with New Product Development and Overall Performance (시장지향성, 조직학습, 혁신성이 신제품 개발과 기업의 전반적 성과에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the antecedents of organizational innovativeness, which in turn influence firm performance that is composed of new product development performance and overall firm performance. We collected responses from C-level executives, and conducted a structural equation model analysis. Results revealed that organizational memory and market orientation influence organizational innovativeness, which in turn influence new product development performance and overall firm performance. However, interestingly, new product development performance was not found to affect overall firm performance. Based on these results, we have confirmed the importance of market orientation and organizational memory for organizational innovativeness. Practical implications related to the results are provided.

  • Inversion schemes of 2-D MT survey data generally take enormous computational time and computer memory. In addition, careful attention must be paid in handling MT data, especially in cases of TM mode, inversion results can be seriously distorted because of static effect caused by current channeling across inhomogeneous surface boundaries. There-fore inversion algorithm using the GRRI scheme for TM mode MT data was implemented. This scheme is based on a perturbation analysis with a locally 2-D analysis and local inversions were sequently performed over each divided section without additional forward modelings. The algorithm was applied to several synthetic data for the purpose of verification of its efficiency and applicability. With less computer resources than conventional schemes, it could handle static effect directly by including current channeling across inhomogeneous boundaries. Thus it is expected to be used for an useful tool such as a real-time inversion scheme in the field.

  • This article will examine the community archive movement, exploring its roots, its variety and the present developments. It will identify limitations of archival principles in managing community records, particularly on the many gaps and insufficiencies for dealing with historically marginalized groups in the contemporary archival infrastructure. Introducing paradigm shifts in the understanding of the role of archives, the author examines new challenges and opportunities of archival community on community archives.

Effects of Linguistic Immersion Synthesis on Foreign Language Learning Using Virtual Reality Agents (가상현실 에이전트 외국어 교사를 활용한 외국어 학습의 몰입 융합 효과)

  • This study investigates the effectiveness of virtual reality agents as foreign language instructors with focus on the impact of different native language backgrounds and instructional roles. The agents were first distinguished as native or non-native speakers treated as a between-subject factor, and then assigned roles as either teachers or salespersons considered within-subject factors. An immersive virtual environment was developed for this experiment, and a 2×2 mixed factorial design was carried out. In an experimental group of 72 university students, statistically significant interactions were found in learning satisfaction, memory, and recall between the native/non-native status of the agents and their roles. With regard to learning confidence and presence, however, no statistically significant differences were observed in both interaction effects and main effects. Contextual learning in a virtual environment was found to enhance learning effectiveness and satisfaction, with the nativeness and the role of agents influencing learners' memory; thus highlighting the effectiveness of using virtual reality agents in foreign language learning. This suggests that varied approaches can have positive cognitive and emotional impacts on learners, thereby providing valuable theoretical and empirical implications.

  • This study explores the strategies for documenting extinct places by clarifying the concepts of place and sense of place and highlighting the importance of place documentation. The disappearance of a place signifies the loss of a medium that evokes memory. Place documentation, a process of recording the sense of place, can restore memory media, resolve the lack of shared memories, and strengthen community identity. It also provides archiving methods and tools to involve stakeholders as record producers to enrich the context further. Thus, the study proposes key strategies, including resident participation, communication of place identity through archives, and cultural-artistic integration projects. The Jeungpyeong Archives' "Maryknoll Clinic" project serves as a case study based on these strategies to illustrate how place documentation is implemented.

  • Recently in the field of information design use of multimedia Including animation has been rapidly increased. And its application is expanding in the field of design nevertheless relevant research in this field is scant. In particular research on which characteristics contribute to improvement for effect of information communication is negligible. Until now designers' interest was mainly focused on visual perfection of screen such as diversity and originality. Actually the aspect of recognition of design was mostly overlooked. But considering ultimate purpose of Information design is accurate communication of information thus there should be more endeavor for research on man's visual recognitive faculty and memory in order to Improve power of communication of information for the purpose of reducing confusion of user before its originality and diversity. For this reason this author in this treatise attempted to examine possible impact of multimedia in information design on recognition of user and communication based on theory of effectiveness of media and also attempted to identify how maximize its effect under different circumstances. Theories on effectiveness of media can be summed up as that well- advanced information of multimedia should be analysed from diverse standpoints on relevancy to tasks and recognitive relevancy rather than its simplification from the standpoint of richness of media. For optimal interface design unnecessary recognitive load should be eliminated and information should be structured by laking maximum advantage of working memory of limited quantity. Also there will be need for selection of proper media and suggestion of expressive method to enable building accurate and successful mental image. In this treatise this author attempted to contribute to designer's decision making in future through examining theories on effectiveness of media in connection with the question of which information technology should be used in order to heighten effect of information communication appropriate to information design.
