Through the literature research and the Delphi Technique the desirable standard of book reviews was suggested, the contents in domestic book review mediums were analyzed for the rightness of describing based on the standard of the book review and henceforward the way of development was suggested. The result from analysis of book review showed that the outstanding book reviews should be more produced based on the desirable standard of book review and the evaluative statements should be developed more than the descriptive statements. Depending on the mediums the contents of the book review were different by the book reviewers' occupations, so the book reviewers should develop their professional knowledges in literature and art. Because the longer book review made the outstanding book review with the rightness of the desirable standard of book review, the certain quantity of book review should be needed and the role of librarians as the book reviewers should be further extended.

  • A book review expands readers' choice of resources by providing them with the contents and bibliographic data of various books. It also functions as a reader support service designed to enrich their reading experiences. In particular, in the field of children's reading, literary devices are used to convey knowledge and information to children. Therefore, a review for a children's book should help children follow a book with further readings so that they can expand their literary imagination through comparative reading. In light of the above, this study looks into the case of a children's story entitled Little Red Riding Hood to identify the points that should be addressed in the "Literature Comparison" section of a book review in order to suggest further readings to readers. First, the review should provide an objective description of the content of Little Red Riding Hood. Second, it should explain the literary value of the reviewed book and the discourse that surrounds it so as to analyze its unique features that separate it from other literary works. Third, the review should provide bibliographic information on other works that use narrative structures adapted from those of Little Red Riding Hood. Fourth, it should broaden readers' choice and access by introducing, if any, works adapted from Little Red Riding Hood into other media.

  • Bauxite residues represent industrial wastes that have been accumulating over the past 120 years since the beginning of the alumina industry. They are typically classified as harmful substances owing to their strong alkalinity and salinity characteristics. These residues, with quantities steadily increasing by more than 150 million tons annually worldwide, are recycled into various industrial materials using dealkalization processing. This study investigates the generation process of alkaline substances in bauxite smelting and the recent techniques adopted for controlling their alkalinity. The properties of bauxite residues are known to vary depending on the raw mining and digestion methods. Thus, the dealkalization process must be selected considering the type of alkaline material, local environment, and infrastructure.

  • Proposal assessments for new weapon system development such as C4I system have been applying a qualitative assessment. The main problem of qualitative assessment is that the results vary depending on the evaluator's subjective preferences and priorities. Also, if there is no discrimination of technical skills degrade, the company will be selected by bid price regardless of technical power. In order to making a fairness, We need a method to compensate for the evaluator's subjectivity and to enhance discrimination. Previous standardization method is limited because targets of the proposal assessment are minority and have similar skill level. So, The new standardized evaluation methods applicable to the proposal was presented. This way is using the priority instead of the score and has better performance than existing methods as the target numbers are smaller.

So, it is argued that rhetorical information literate citizenry is essential for a modern democratic society. As the information literacy instruction program can be various, for example, technology oriented instruction is needed to be compared. For the practical execution of the RILI program, 'asking situated questions to discover problem', 'selecting and writing review of meta study books', and 'writing visiting report of library', and 'instruction of information ethics for democratic citizens' have been proposed.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the possibility of using the WorldCat, an International Union Catalog operated by OCLC as a tool for analyzing the trend of knowledge distribution in libraries around the world. In this study, four subject keywords, that is, Korea, Korean, Japan, and Japanese, were used to search materials related to Korea and Japan, and four facets, including medium, genre, language, and user level, were used to categorize search results from the WorldCat. The result shows that information resources related to Korea held by libraries around the world are only a little more than a third of Japan-related information resources. Especially Korea-related information resources for juveniles are less in numbers and lack in diversity in languages, media and genres, when compared with Japan-related information resources. Also an examination of two bibliographic records demonstrates that viewpoints expressed in user contributed reviews might affect diffusion of knowledge on certain subjects in the Next Generation Library Catalog.
