  • Ultra-Precision CNC polishing system including on-machine measurement system, a corrective polishing algorithm is developed. The unit removal profiles for various polishing tools and analyzed and tested and dwell time distributions and residual errors for a target removal shape are calculated. The corrective polishing algorithm is tested with various workpieces. This result will be used for the software development of the CNC polishing system.

Analysis of Vibration in Cello Bridge (첼로 브릿지의 진동 분석)

  • Vibration of string is transmitted to the front plate through bridge to cause resonance of the instrument body in viol family string instruments. Therefore. the properties. geometrical shape. and positioning of the bridge are expected to have some effect on the sound color. In this study the strain and the stress in the bridge. and the force exerted on the top plate by the bridge as the string vibrates the bridge in cello are calculated through simulation based on the theory of elasticity. The modes of vibration and the characteristic frequencies are also found. Furthermore. the effect of geometric shape of bridge on sound color is studied in terms of frequency response. The results of this study show that the vibration characteristics of bridge is quite complex and the properties and the geometrical shape of bridge have significant effect on sound color, and therefore. the sound color of a cello can be controlled by changing the geometrical shape of bridge.

  • One of the major limitations of productivity and quality in metal cutting is the machining accuracy of machine tools. The machining accuracy is affected by geometric and thermal errors of the machine tools. Therefore, a key requirement for improving te machining accuracy and product quality is to reduce the geometric and thermal errors of machine tools. This study models geometric error for error analysis and develops on-machine measurement system by which the volumetric erors are measured. The geometric error is modeled using form shaping function(FSF) which is defined as the mathematical relationship between form shaping motion of machine tool and machined surface. The constant terms included in the error model are found from the measurement results of on-machine measurement system. The developed on-machine measurement system consists of the spherical ball artifact (SBA), the touch probe unit with a star type stylus, the thermal data logger and the personal computer. Experiments, performed with the developed measurement system, show that the system provides a high measuring accuracy, with repeatability of ${\pm}2{\mu}m$ in X, Y and Z directions.

  • 디젤기관에서 배출되는 유해배출성분인 NOx(Nitrogen oxides)와 PM(Particulate matter)은 기관 실린더내의 혼합기 분포에 의해 그 생성이 지배된다. 이 때문에 그 유해배출물들을 저감하기 위해서는 연소의 전단계인 혼합기 분포 및 그 생성과정의 해석은 매우 중요하다. 디젤기관에서 노즐로부터 분사된 연료는 주위기체와 혼합기를 형성하는 과정에서 액체에서 기체로 상변화를 동반한다. 따라서 분무의 혼합기형성과정을 해석하기 위해서는 액상과 기상을 동시에 분리하여 계측하는 것이 필요하다. 그러므로 본 연구에서는 디젤분무를 대상으로 Melton 등이 제안한 엑시플렉스(Exciplex) 형광법을 이용하여, 분무의 액상과 기상을 동시에 2차원분리해서 가시화촬영을 행하였다. 그 엑시플렉스 형광법을 이용하여 획득한 이미지에 화상 응용해석을 실시하여 비정상증발디젤분무의 혼합기형성과정에 대한 정보를 얻고자 하였다. 엑시플렉스 형광법을 이용해서 증발분무의 거동측성을 해석한 결과 프랙틸해석을 이용한 분무 흐트러짐(Disturbance)의 평가에서 플랙틸차원은 분사압력의 변화에 관계없이 하나의 값, 약 1.1로 정리 할 수 있고, 그 결과 각 분사압력에 대한 분무 기상외곽곡선(외주)은 거의 동일한 정도의 요철형상을 갖는다.

  • The purpose of this paper is to establish an effective inspection system by using OMM(ON-Machine Measurement) system. This allows us to reduce the manufacturing lead time by separating the inspection process from manufacturing system. As a first step, the inspection process planning is accomplished by determining the number of measuring points, their locations, measuring path and their sequence. Subsequently, we generate measuring G-codes to be transferred to the machining center through RS232C, and then the inspection process will be performed for each shape. Analysing obtained measuring data, the dimensional tolerance will be validated.

  • Machining information such as machined form and surface roughness accuracy is an important factor for manufacturing precise parts. To this regard, OMM(On the Machine Measurement) has been issued for last several decades to alternate with CMM. In this research, measuring system consisting of a laser probe is developed for machined form and surface roughness measurement on the machine tool. The obtained machined form accuracy is compared with reference one defined in CAD model. The measured surface roughness data is compared with measured master surface beforehand. Furthermore, using the pre-defined volumetric error map approach compensates the geometric accuracy of the machine tool. The overall performance is compared with CMM, and verified the feasibility of the measurement system.

  • The purpose of this paper is to establish an effective featured based inspection planning system for OMM(On-Machine Measurement) process. In this system, an effective inspection process planning is accomplished by determining the number of measuring points, their locations and probing paths using fuzzy logic, Hammersley method and TSP problem. Also, an effective collision-free algorithm Is proposed based on the EZ-map analysis. All the inspection planning processes are performed based on the defined inspection features those are derived from the CAD database. Proposed inspection planning method is simulated for the given sample wrokpieces, and the results are analyzed. The results show that the proposed method can be successfully implemented in real OMM process.

  • A feature-based inspection planning system is proposed in this research to develop more efficient measuring methodology for the OMM(On-Machine Measurement) or CMM(coordinate Measuring Machine) for complicated workpiece having many primitive form features. This paper is proposed solution that optimum inspection sequence of the objective features. The sequences are determined by analyzing the feature information such as the nearest relationship and the possible probe-approach direction(PAD) of the features, and forming feature groups. A series of heuristic rules are developed to accomplish it. Also, each feature is decomposed into its constituent geometric elements for inspection process, and then the number of sampling points, location of the measuring points, optimum probing path are determined.
