Enhancement of Bearing Estimation Performance at Endfire Using Cardioid Inverse Beamforming (좌우분리 역빔형성 기법에 의한 센서 축방향의 방위탐지 성능 향상)

  • In order to detect the precise port/starboard direction of arrival of target signal in real noisy ocean environments, Inverse beamforming (IBF) algorithm is surveyed theoretically and the detection performances of IBF are analyzed with simulations. Cardioid Inverse beamforming algorithm was proposed for port/starboard discrimination and the performance was studied with simulations. It is shown that IBF has a 3dB array gain advantage over Conventional beamforming (CBF) under ideal conditions. This 3 dB advantage is proven theoretically and illustrated with simulations. The fact that the IBF beamwidth is narrower than the CBF beamwidth by a factor of 0.68 proves the performance of defection and spatial resolution improvement. Comparing the simulation results of Cardioid Inverse beamforming and Conventional Cardioid beamforming, it is shown that Cardioid Inverse beamformer has enhanced performance in minimum detection level, detection accuracy and resolution. Due to the results of moving target bearing detection test in endfire, it is shown that Cardioid Inverse beamformer has better performance, comparing the Conventional Cardioid beamformer.

Development of Kinematic Wave-based Distributed Model for Flood Discharge Analysis (홍수유출해석을 위한 운동파기반의 분포형모형 개발 및 적용)

  • In this research, a distributed rainfall-runoff model based on physical kinematic wave was developed to simulate temporal and spatial distribution of flood discharge considering grid rainfall and grid based hydrological information. The developed model can simulate temporal change and spatial distribution of surface flow and sub-surface flow during flood period, and input parameters of ASCII format as pre-process can be extracted using GIS such as ArcGIS and ArcView. Output results of ASCII format as post-process can be created to express distribution of discharge in the watershed using GIS. The Namgang Dam Watershed was divided into square grids of 500m resolution and calculated by kinematic wave into an outlet through channel networks to review capability of the developed model. The model displayed precise results to be compared to the hydrograph.

  • 충청남도 서해안은 생태환경의 보고로서 갯벌, 사구, 해안습지 등 독특한 자연적 특성을 갖고 있는 지역이다. 그러나 다른 지역에 비해 대규모 간척 및 매립으로 인한 해양생태계 피해에 현저히 노출되어 있으며, 서해안 지역은 최근 산업화 및 관광권화가 진행되며 무분별하게 설치된 호안구조물은 그 기능을 상실하여 상당수가 설치전보다 오히려 서해안의 독특한 환경성과 관광성을 악화시키고 있어 서해안 특성을 고려한 대책이 요구된다. 본 연구에서는 서해안의 특성을 고려한 환경친화적 연안 호안구조물 리모델링을 위해 서해안의 침식특성에 대하여 분석하고자 한다. 분석 방법은 충청남도 서해안의 4개 시 군 29개 지점을 대상으로 1년여에 걸쳐 수행된 현장조사 결과를 바탕으로 서해안의 침식 현황을 파악하고, 기 조사된 서해안 지역의 침식에 대한 자료를 바탕으로 침식원인을 유형화하였다. 조사 분석결과 서해안의 대표적인 침식유형은 직립 급경사 호안구조물의 반사파로 인한 해빈침식(자갈화), 사구 토사포락, 직립 급경사 호안구조물 저면 세굴에 의한 호안구조물 붕괴, 방파제 설치에 의한 침식 등 대표적인 4가지 유형으로 분류할 수 있으며, 침식 유형별 발생지점 수는 총 29개 지점 중 각각 19개 지점, 13개 지점, 5개 지점, 4개 지점에서 나타났다. 이는 호안구조물이 미설치된 곳은 사구 토사포락에 의한 침식 발생빈도가 높았고, 반면에 호안구조물이 설치된 곳에서는 호안구조물의 기능 상실로 인한 해빈침식의 발생빈도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 조사지점으로 선정하였던 29개 모든 지점에서 토사유실로 인한 자갈화가 진행되어 서해안의 갯벌, 사구, 해안습지 등이 유실되고 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 이는 최근 기후변화에 따른 해수면 상승과 서해안 특성을 고려하지 않은 정형화된 직립 급경사 호안구조물의 역효과로 피해가 발생된 것으로 나타났다.

  • In this paper, we propose a rotational motion compensation(RMC) for bistatic inverse synthetic aperture radar(Bi-ISAR) imaging. For this purpose, geometry-error, caused by changes of bistatic-angle, is removed using known position information of a transmitter, a receiver, and target trajectories. Next, RMC is performed to compensate non-uniform rotational motion error by reformatting radar signal in terms of a newly defined slow time variable that converts non-uniform rotational motion into uniform one. Simulation results using an aircraft model composed of ideal point scatterers validate the efficacy of the proposed Bi-ISAR RMC method.

  • In order to perform the satellite structural analysis, FE-Model(Finite Element Model) considering all mechanical properties is necessary. Generally, different companies develop several satellite components, and sometimes it is very difficult to obtain FE-Model. In this case, FE-Model reduction using superelement method can be good solution. For developing satellite, antenna manufacturer required satellite FE-Model to calculate microvibration induced by antenna operation, and condensed model using superelement method was provided. Superelement method is based on Craig-Bampton method, and it is applied to spacecraft FE-Model reduction in this paper. From modal analysis and the frequency response analysis results between full FE-Model and condensed model, the usefulness of reduced model is confirmed.

Crash Worthiness of a Post with Clip-type Slip Base Subject to Side Impact (클립형 단부분리장치를 갖는 지주의 측면충돌 시 충격완화효과)

  • When a rigid post is exposed to traffic, it is hazardous not only to head-on impacts but also to side impacts. Clip-type slip base is an effective measure to reduce the severity of head-on impacts and side impacts as well because of its multi-directional release mechanism. Side impact tests were conducted and the results were analysed to demonstrate the hazardousness of a rigid post to a side impact and the crash worthiness of a post having clip-type slip base. For that, side impact test standard was made adapting the NCHRP Report 350, and 820kg-50km/h side impact tests were made for posts of D101.6mm(t=4.2mm) with and without slip base. Additionally, 35km/h side impact to the same post with slip base was conducted to check whether the clip-type slip base release mechanism works properly to the low impact speed. The tests revealed that the rigidly connected post was very hazardous to side impact while the post with the clip-type slip base reduced the impact severity tremendously.

MeV급 양성자 빔을 이용한 PMMA 리소그래피

  • 이온빔을 이용한 리소그래피의 경우 미크론 이하의 미세구조를 형성할 수 있는 유용한 수단으로서 방사광 X-선과 함께 주목을 받고 있으며, 이와 같은 미세구조 제작은 MEMS (Micro Electro-Mechanical System) 개발에 있어서 매우 중요하다. 그러나 이온빔을 이용한 리소그래피에 대한 연구가 많이 이루어져 있지 않은 상태이다. MeV급 양정사 빔을 이용한 리소그래피의 가능성을 확인하기 위하여 기본적인 실험을 수행하였으며, 최적 이온빔 조사 조건 및 최적 현상 조건을 도출하였다. Resist로는 PMMA를 사용하였으며, 1.8 MeV 양성자 빔을 사용하여 50$\mu\textrm{m}$ 깊이의 구조물을 만들었다. 1.8MeV 양성자 빔의 조사선량이 7x1013ions/cm2 이상이 되면 PMMA 내부에 기포가 형성되므로 적정 조사선량을 4x1013 ions/cm2으로 결정하였다. 또한 선량을 4x1013ions/cm2 으로 고정하고 선량률을 변화시켜주면 선량률이 8x1011ions/cm2S 일 때부터 시료에 기포나 터짐 현상 등의 문제가 발생하였으며 5x1010~~1x1010ions/cm2s 의 선량률이 조사시간, 결함측면에서 가장 적합한 영역임을 알 수 있었다. 현상제로는 20% morpholine, 5% etanolamine 60% diethylenglykol-monobutylether, 15% 증류수를 혼합하여 사용하였다. 현상 온도를 30~5$0^{\circ}C$로 변화시켜서 현상을 한 결과, 4$0^{\circ}C$에서 현상 소요시간은 1시간 이내이며 SEM으로 관찰된 표면의 상태도 제일 양호한 결과를 보였다. 82 mesh 밀도, 선굵기 60$\mu\textrm{m}$, 크기 20x20 mm인 백금 망을 마스크로 사용하여 실제 3차원 미세구조를 제작하여 보았다. 그림 1에서 제작된 구조물의 SEM 사진을 보여주었으며, 식각된 면의 조도가 매우 뛰어나며 모서리의 직각성도 우수함을 확인할 수 있다. 이와 같이 도출된 시험 조건을 기초로 하여 리소그래피 후에 전기 도금을 이용한 금속 몰드 제작 및 이온빔 리소그래피 장점을 최대한 살릴수 있는 미세구조 제작에 대한 연구를 계속 추진할 계획이다.

A Study on the Reversible SCR Servo Amplifier (정역전이 가능한 SCR 서보증폭기에 관한 연구)

  • Many industrial servo amplifiers employ power transister as output device. Thyristor converters are not adopted to drive servo motor, although thyristor is superior to power TR in power rating, noise immunity, price, and size. The reason is, thyristor has no ability of self turn - off. Here in this paper line commutation, in which thyristor is turned off naturally since cathode voltage is higher than anode as time goes by, is employed to turn on thyristor with a delicate sequence. We developed thyristor servo amplifier which does not cause any damage on thyristor because it is designed to prevent triggering the two SCRs in the same arm simultaneously. And it was made clearly how to trigger SCR without any power line shorting and also harmonic analysis is carried out with the aid of FFT analyzer and proved that it can be used even severe reactive load. The designed circuit operated as a good DC amplifier in conventinal servomotor and the results can be use as a position control system application.

Numerical Simulation of Bullet Impact for Fuel Cell of Rotorcraft using Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (입자법을 이용한 회전익항공기 연료셀 피탄 수치모사)

  • Military rotorcraft should be designed taking into account the condition of the fuel cell bullet impact. The internal fluid pressure, stress of metal fitting and fuel cell, bullet kinetic energy can be included as the design factor for the fuel cell. The best way to obtain the important design data is to conduct the verification test with actual product. But, the verification test requires huge cost and long-term effort. Moreover, there is high risk to fail because of the sever test condition. Thus, the numerical simulation is required to reduce the risk of trial-and-error together with prediction of the design data. In the present study, the bullet impact simulation based on SPH(smoothed particle hydrodynamics) is conducted with the commercial package, LS-DYNA. As the result of the numerical simulation, the internal pressure of fuel cell is calculated as 350~360MPa and the equivalent stress caused by hydro-ram effect is predicted as 260~350MPa on metal fittings.

Optimal Number of Spare Engines and Modules for Aircraft Types (항공기 유형을 고려한 최적 예비엔진 및 모듈 소요 산출)

  • Spare engine plays an important role for securing readiness of military strength during unexpected fault occurrences and field/depot planned maintenances. The purpose of this research is to present an approach towards the optimal number of spare engines/modules for diversity of aircraft types. We first reviewed two representative approaches, METRIC and meta model. We then investigated military aircrafts and categorized them into 5 types with regard to the engine type and number of engines/modules per aircraft. Through rigorous investigation of planned/non-planned maintenance of each type, we drew parameters and variables involved. As known, due to the complexity of the problem, it is impossible to develop a simple mathematical model with a closed form solution. Based on the airbase operation and maintenance logic with parameters/variable drawn, we developed a simulation model using ARENA well representing real field exercises. For the optimal solution, we applied OptQuest. It has shown that the program developed generates reliable results through a set of case examples.
