The paper presents an Experimental Vehicle Model (EVM), that utilizes the kinematic characteristics of suspensions from SPMD test data. The relative displacement and orientation of a wheel with respect to the body are represented as a function of the vertical displacement of the wheel. The equations of motion of the vehicle are formulated in terms of local coordinates that do not require coordinate transformation, which improves the efficiency of dynamic analysis. The EOM was modularized for each suspension model, and a $6{\times}6$ vehicle model was obtained by combining six suspensions. The analysis results were compared with ADAMS to verify the accuracy of the EVM. This study also verifies the feasibility of real-time simulation with the developed EVM. For a vehicle simulation for 1 ms, the real simulation time required within 20% of the prescribed time. This result shows that the EVM meets the real-time simulation requirements.

In this study, a multibody dynamic model of the cervical spine was developed for a virtual in-vitro cadaveric experiment. The dynamic cervical spine model was reconstructed based on Korean CT images and the material properties of joints and soft tissue obtained from in-vitro experimental literature. The model was validated by comparing the inter-segmental rotation, multi-segmental rotations, load-displacement behavior, ligament force, and facet contact force with the published in-vitro experimental data. The results from the model were similar to published experimental data. The developed dynamic model of the cervical spine can be useful for injury analysis to predict the loads and deformations of the individual soft-tissue elements as well as for virtual in-vitro cadaveric experiments.

In this study, a multibody simulator was developed to analyze the bio-mimetic motion of a lizard robot design. A RecurDyn multibody dynamics model of a lizard was created using a micro-computerized tomography scan and motion capture data. The bio-mimetic motion simulator consisted of a trajectory generator, an inverse kinematics module, and an inverse dynamics module, which were used for various walking motion analyses of the developed lizard model. The trajectory generation module produces spinal movements and gait trajectories based on the lizard's speed. Using the joint angle history from an inverse kinematic analysis, an inverse dynamic analysis can be carried out, and the required joint torques can be obtained for the lizard robot design. In order to investigate the effectiveness of the developed simulator, the required joint torques of the model were calculated using the simulator.

This paper presents the analytical closed form solution for the impact load of a collision between rigid bodies and its application to a spent nuclear fuel disposal canister accidentally dropped and impacted on the ground. This paper performed a study on the numerical rigid body dynamic analysis to compute the impact load between two rigid bodies, especially, the impulsive force which is applied to the spent nuclear fuel disposal canister in the accidental drop and impact event on the ground. Through this study the impulsive force which is occurring in the spent nuclear fuel disposal canister under accidental drop and impact event on the ground and required in the process of structural safety design of the canister is computed numerically. The main content of this numerical study is about the technical method how to compute the impulsive force applied to the canister under the accidental drop and impact event on the ground by using the commercial computer code for the rigid body dynamic analysis. On the basis of this study a problem to compute the impulsive force which is occurring in the canister in the case of collision with the ground is numerically treated. This numerically computed impulsive force is compared with the theoretical value, which shows a good agreement.

Free-piston Stirling engines (FPSEs) have attracted much attention in the renewable energy field as a key device in the conversion from thermal to mechanical energy, and in the recycling of waste energy. Traditional Stirling engines consist of two pistons that are connected by a mechanical link, while FPSEs are formed as a vibration system by connecting each piston to a spring without a physical link. To ensure the correct design and control of operations, this requires elaborate dynamic-performance predictions. In this paper, we present the performance-prediction methodology using a linear and nonlinear dynamic analytical model considering the external load of FPSEs. We perform linear analyses to predict the operating point of the engine using the root locus technique. Using nonlinear analysis, we also predict the amplitude of pistons by performing numerical integration considering both the linear and nonlinear damping terms of the external load. We utilize the predicted dynamic behavior to predict the engine performance. In addition, we compare the experiment results and existing model predictions for RE-1000 to verify the reliability of the analytical model.

Since the performance of the circuit breaker mainly depends on the spring operating mechanism, the analysis of the spring operating mechanism is required. The spring, especially closing spring, stores the deformation energy due to the compression and then accelerates the big loads rapidly in the circuit breaker. To accurately carry out the kinematic and dynamic analysis of the circuit breaker, the precise modeling of the spring behavior is necessary. In this paper, the static stiffness of the spring is captured by using the tester. A simple mechanism similar to the spring operating mechanism was designed to generate the release motion of the spring. A high speed camera was used to capture the behavior of the spring. Three types of spring models such as a linear spring model, modal spring model, and nodal spring model are suggested and compared with the experimental results.

An assembly modeling system, with which a designer can interactively create an assembly of components ready for the dynamic analysis, has been developed. In this system, an assembly model is created from the mating conditions between the components in the assembly, and then most information required for the dynamic or kinematic analysis packages are derived. For this development, the following problems have been solved; the creation of assembly data structure, the derivation of the joint information, the inference of each component's position, and the creation of the joint coordinate systems. Through this work, the designer can easily model an assembly by assigning mating conditions, and check the dynamic or kinematic performance with the automatic creation of inputs for the assembly analysis packages.

Recently, the robot manipulators are needed more slim size and longer reach and more accurate movement for increasing productivity. So, in this paper, the simulation modeling method and the efficient modeling method for new slim & long reach robot has been investigated for forecasting the slim robot performance before making prototype. To do this investigation, the major parts of robot driving system such as motor, belt and reducer devices and parts assembly method have been investigated mainly. And then, using this developed modeling method the new designed robot will be forecasted about the dynamic performance of new designed robot.
