Effects of the Ultrasonic Energy on the IDI Diesel Engine Performance (초음파에너지가 간접분사식 디젤기관 성능에 미치는 영향)

  • In the study, the effect of the ultrasonic energy in transportational diesel fuel on the engine performance and exhaust emission has been investigated for indirect injection diesel engine. It was tested to estimated change of engine performance and exhaust emission characteristics for the transportational diesel fuels and the reforming fuels which was irradiated by the ultrasonic energy. The results of the study may be concluded as follows; By the irradiation of ultrasonic energy on the diesel fuel, cylinder pressure, heat release rate and engine power were increased but bsfc, mass fraction burned, and smoke were reduced. Also, the combustion was more stabilized and became complete and NOx was increased.

  • 국내 Westinghouse형 및 CE형 가압 경수로의 Non-LOCA 및 성능 분석을 수행할 수 있는 범용 전산 코드 TASS 1.0 코드를 한국원자력연구소에서 개발하였다. TASS 1.0의 노심 출력 계산은 Point Kinetics 모델과 1차원 확산 모델이 함께 내장되어 있어 축방향 출력 분포가 변하는 반응도 관련 사고 및 주증기관 파단 사고들에 대해서는 1차원 확산 모델을 사용하여 노심의 출력 계산이 가능하도록 개발되었다. 1차원 확산 모델의 적용 가능성 및 효과를 평가하기 위하여 Westinghouse형 발전소인 고리 3호기 7주기 및 CE형 발전소인 영광 3호기 1주기 전출력 제어봉 인출 사고에 대한 비교 분석 계산을 수행하였다. 비교 분석 계산 결과 1차원 확산 모델이 Point Kinetics 모델에 비해 DNBR 관점에서 보다 많은 운전 및 열적 여유도를 확보함이 판명되어 반응도 관련 사고 해석에서의 TASS 1.0 1차원 확산모델의 개선 효과를 입증하였다.

  • 최근 세계의 자동차업계에 문제가 되고 있는 연료경제 및 배기공해와 더불어 출력향상을 위하여 채택되고 있는 가솔린 기관의 연료분사장치는 유럽을 중심으로 하여 미국 및 일본에서 급속하게 발전되고 있으며 상당한 수의 자동차가 이를 장착, 주행하고 있어 향후 이러한 추세는 더욱 늘어날 전망에 있으므로 우선 이에 대한 개요를 소개함으로써 국산자동차의 기술적 향상에 기여 코자 한다.

Report on the External Audits Conducted by Korean Society of Medical Physics (한국의학물리학회 선형가속기 외부 품질관리 실시 현황보고)

  • The aim of this work is to verify the self-quality assurances in medical institutions in Korea through the external audits by the group of experts and have a mutual discussion of the systematic problems. In order to validate the external audits 30 of 80 medical institutions across the nation were picked out considering the regional distribution and the final 25 institutions applied voluntarily to take part in this work. The basic rules were setup that any information of the participants be kept secrete and the measurements be performed with the dosimetry system already verified through intercomparision. The outputs for 2 or more photon beams, the accuracy of gantry rotation and collimator rotation and the poistional accuracy of MLC movement were measured. The findings for the output measurement showed the differences of -0.8%~4.5%, -0.79%~3.01%, and -0.7%~0.07% with respect to that of the verified dosimetry system for the 6MV, 10MV, and 15MV, respectively. For the reference absorbed dose 8 (16%) of 50 photon beams in 25 medical institutions differed 2.0% or greater from the reference value. The coincidences of Field size with x-ray beam and radiation isocenters of Gantry roration and collimator rotation gave the results of within ${\pm}2$ mm for every institute except 2 institutions. The positional accuracy of MLC movement agreed to within ${\pm}1$ mm for every institute. For the beam qualities of 6 MV photon beams kQ values showed the distribution within 0.4% between maximum and minimum. For the protocols 21 institutions (84%) used absorbed dose to water based protocol while 4 insitutions (16%) used air kerma based one. 22 institutions employed the SSD technique while 3 institutions did the SAD one. External audit plays an important role in discovering the systematic problems of self-performing Quality Assurances and having in depth discussion for mutual complementation. Training experts of international level as well as national support system are required so that both the group of experts of medical physicists and government laboratory could perform together periodical and constant external audits.

An Approximate Analysis Method to Predict Power Output Characteristics of Stilting Engine (스터얼링 기관의 근사 출력 계산법)

  • A fast and inexpensive approximate analysis method to predict power output characteristics of the Stilting engines in a preliminary design stage was investigated. In basic equations proposed by Walker, typical temperatures of working fluids in expansion and compression spaces were treated as those of working fluids in heater and cooler respectively. While the temperature of working fluid in the expansion space was actually lower than that of working fluid in the heater, the temperature of working fluid in the compression space was higher than that of working fluids in the cooler. In this paper, the working fluid temperature of expansion space was treated as lower than the heater temperature and that of compression space was treated as higher than the cooler temperature. Also, according to them, the power output characteristics of the Stirling engine were evaluated with respect to the GPU-3 and 4-215 Stilting engines. The following conclusions were drawn from the analysis. 1. Using the available experimental data from the GPU-3 Stirling engine, it was shown that the approximate analysis predicts the brake power with a maximum error of 19 percent at 1, 000rpm and with a minimum error of 3 percent at 2, 000rpm. 2. The approximate analysis data which for the GPU-3 Stirling engine were much closer to the experimental data than those of adiabatic 2nd order and 3rd order analysis within 1, 500rpm to 2, 500rpm. 3. The approximate analysis data which for the GPU-3 and 4-215 Stilting engines were much closer to the experimental data than those of the Beal number analysis.

小型 디이젤機關에 있어서 알코올 利용에 관한 硏究

  • The method of methanol using in diesel engines hasn't been established yet because of it's low ignition characters. But many studies about it with many methods have been doing recently. If alcohol can be used in diesel engines, smoke and NO$\sub$x/, which is a big problem in diesel engines, can be reduced large. The purpose of this study is to establish using method of alcohol, as a substitute fuel. In this study, Combustion characters, engine performance and exhaust gas emissions are checked by using gasfication diesel method. Concluding remarks of this study are as follows. (1) Methanol can be used within 30% of total inducing energy, if above that rate, it can't be used because of knocking and bad operating condition. (2) Under the low load, the effect of methanol inducing of fuel consumption is somewhat bad, but under the high load, the effect is very good. (3) Under the high load, smoke limit is a marked improvement with methanol inducing.

Performance Characteristics of CNG Vehicle at Various Compression Ratios (압축비 변경에 따른 CNG차량의 성능특성 연구)

  • Natural gas is one of the promising alternative fuels for automotive vehicles, because it has lower exhaust emissions and better fuel economy characteristics than those of gasoline, and can be used in conventional gasoline engines without major modifications. In the present study, a conventional gasoline engine was modified to a CNG engine, which can be operated with CNG only, and an engine bench test was performed to calibrate the operating parameters of the engine such as air fuel ratio, spark advance, etc. at various operating conditions. The modified CNG engine, then, was installed on a commercial gasoline vehicle and a vehicle driving test on chassis dynamometer was performed to examine the fuel economy and exhaust emission characteristics. As a result, the prototype CNG vehicle showed lower exhaust emissions and better fuel economy characteristics, but slightly reduced brake horse power, compared to the gasoline vehicle.

Cooling Performance on the Small Diesel Engine (소형(小型)디젤기관(機關)의 냉각성능(冷却性能)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究))

  • This study was conducted to obtain basic data for the design of cooling system by the test of engine performance of the power tiller being used widely in the rural area. Among the various factors affecting engine performance, the flow rate of cooling water was considered as the major factor in this study. Motoring loss, output, fuel consumption ratio, torque, heat absorption of cooling water, and thermal efficiency were measured and analyzed based on three flow rates of cooling water such as 15, 20, and $25{\ell}/min$. The results obtained were as follows : 1. Motoring loss of the engine was 1.371 kW at 2,200 rpm., and mechanical efficiency was 79.1% at rated output level. 2. Output power of the engine increased with the flow rate of cooling water increased. 3. BSFC was 282.9g/kW-h at the flow rate of $20{\ell}/min$, and the temperature of cooling water at outlet was $80.9^{\circ}C$. 4. There was a little variation of torque of the engine depending on the flow rate of cooling water. 5. Absorption of heat by cooling water was increased with the increase of flow rate. 6. The highest thermal efficiency of 32.3% at the flow rate of $20{\ell}/min$ was observed.

차세대원자로의 주증기관 파단사고시 안전주입수 직접주입에 대한 유체혼합해석

  • 차세대원자로(KNGR) 안전주입계통은 원자로용기 하향유로(RVDC)로 직접주입(DVI)되도록 설계되며 이는 4-트레인 안전주입계통의 설계에 있어 고유한 기본구조이다. DIV 채택으로 인해 가압열충격(PTS)과 관련된 인허가 상의 관심사론 조사하고 DVI 주입구 위치에 대한 RVDC에서의 유체거동과 온도분포를 상용전산코드인 FLOW3D를 이용하여 분석하였다. PTS관점에서 가장 최악의 경우인 외부 전원상실을 동반한 영출력 주증기관 파단사고를 해석대상으로 하였으며 사고후 570 ~ 600초 사이의 과도상태를 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과로 주증기관 파단으로 야기되는 자연순환에 의한 열혼합은 충분히 이루어져 RVDC에서의 온도가 R $T_{PTS}$ 이상임을 확인했고 손상루프측 위의 DVI 주입구의 유동중 일부가 손상루프측 저온관 유동과 상호작용하여 건전루프측 저온관아래로 흐르며 이 영향으로 건전루프측 저온관 아래에서의 온도가 국부적으로 감소함을 확인하였다.다.

A study on power improvement emission characteristics of marine diesel engine with response power 200HP turbocharger (대응출력 200마력 과급기에 의한 디젤기관의 출력향상 및 배출특성에 관한 연구)

  • To improve efficiency of diesel engine which requests high output recently and is used all kinds of industrial areas, this thesis experimented dynamic characteristics and exhaust gas characteristics of diesel engine installed by supercharger of correspondent output 200HP and natural inhalation diesel engine through the dynamometer and exhaust gas analyzer in same condition. As the result of experiment with natural inhalation diesel engine and diesel engine installed by supercharger, there were a few differences of output, but dynamic characteristics at high speed showed increased output and efficiency of the engine installed by supercharger. On the contrary, in exhaust gas characteristics, the model installed by supercharger showed increased exhaust gas such as $NO_X$, $O_2$, etc, but added value of exhaust gas is low if considering $CO_2$ reduction and efficiency of dynamic characteristic's increase. Based on the results, diesel engine installed by supercharger is expected to show higher economic feasibility than natural inhalation diesel than natural inhalation engine from an angle of efficiency.
