  • 우리나라는 산림이 울창하고 가연성 낙엽 등의 가연성 물질들이 많이 쌓여 있으며, 경사가 급하고 기복이 많은 산지로서 초기진화 실패 시 연소진행 속도가 빨라 급속히 확산 시키는 산악 형 산림으로서 산불 발생 시 진화가 어려워 산불의 확산 속도와 강도를 추정하기 어려운 실정이다. 현재 산불이 발생과 동시에 초기 진화에만 초점을 마치고 있는 시점에서 초기 진화에 실패했을 경우 산불이 확산되는 경로와 시간 등을 예측하여 최소한의 인력과 장비를 이용하여 진화하는 시스템을 구축할 수 있는 경우는 아직 우리나라에서는 미흡하다. 본 연구에서는 특정지역의 국부지형 기상인자(풍향, 풍속)를 측정하여 산불이 발생 시 인자별 특성에 따라서 산불의 진행 경로와 산불의 진화 시나리오를 예측할 수 있는 시스템을 구축하는데 그 목적이 있다.

Manufacturing of Artificial Lightweight Aggregates using a Coal Fly Ash Discharged from Fluidized Bed Combustor (유동층(流動層) 연소기(撚燒器)로 부터 발생(發生)된 석탄(石炭) 비산(飛散)재를 이용(利用)한 인공경량골재(人工輕量骨材) 제조(製造))

  • The spherical artificial aggregates (AAs) with a diameter of 8 mm, which contains fly ashes discharged from the fluidized bed combustion in a thermal power plant and clay were manufactured by direct sintering method at $1050{\sim}1250^{\circ}C$ for 10 minutes. The effect of fly ash contents on the bloating phenomenon in the AAs was analyzed. The AAs containing fly ash of the amount under 50 wt% showed the black-coring and bloating phenomena. The AAs containing fly ash of the amount over 5Owt%, however, the specific gravity was increased and the color of specimens fully changed to black. These color change phenomena were caused from the formation of FeO by the reduction reaction of almost $Fe_2O_3$ component by the excessive reducing atmosphere formed simultaneously with the rapid emission of the gases generated from the high contents of unburned carbon of with increasing the added fly ash amount. Specific gravity was decreased as fly ash contents increased in the case of sintering at the same temperature condition. Water absorption of all specimens except of the specimens containing 10 wt% fly ashes decreased with increasing sintering temperature. These were because a liquid phase was formed as the increasing the sintering temperature. In the case of the specimens manufactured in this study containing fly ashes discharged from the fluidized bed combustor in a the thermal power plant and 10~90 wt% of clay, the specific gravity was 0.9~1.8 and the water absorptivity was 8~60%, therefore it is considered that those results can be applied to the light or heavy aggregates.

  • A theoretical study of spray and combustion characteristics due to coaxial twin-fluid injection is conducted to investigate the effects of liquid jet property, droplet size, contact length and liquid jet velocity. Model is properly validated with measurements and shows good agreement. Prediction of jet contact length, droplet size, liquid jet velocity reflects genuine features of coaxial injection in physical and practical aspects. Both the jet contact length and tile droplet size are reduced in a linear manner with an increase of injector diameter. Cross sectional area of liquid intact core is reduced with augmented jet splitting rate, thus the jet is accelerated to maintain the mass continuity and with an assistant of momentum diffusion by burnt gas.

  • In the case of fire, surface treatment agents used in external insulation finishing methods are substances that are vulnerable to fire due to thin finishes and the combustion of polymers. In this study, it was expected that the performance of surface preparation mortars could be improved by using expandable graphite with excellent thermal performance. Experimental results showed that the mechanical properties of surf ace preparation mortar were improved by using the fly ash and silica fume. Surface treatment materials using expanded graphite have a characteristic of expanding when a fire occurs. It has been shown that heat-swellable surface treatment materials can reduce the penetration of heat sources into the surface of synthetic insulation.

  • Recently, the depletion of fossil fuels, global warming and environmental pollution have emerged as a worldwide problem, and studies of new renewable energy sources have been progressed. Among the many renewable energy sources, the use of bio fuel has the potential to displace fossil fuels due to low price, easy to handle, and the abundant sources. Pyrolysis oil (PO) derived from waste wood and sawdust is considered an alternative fuel for use in diesel engines. On the other hand, PO is limited to diesel engines because of its low cetane number, high viscosity, high acidity, and low energy density. Therefore, to improve its poor properties, PO was mixed with alcohol fuels, such as ethanol. Early mixing with ethanol has the benefit of improving the storage and handling properties of the PO. Furthermore, a PO-ethanol blended fuel was injected separately, which can be fired through pilot-injected diesel in a dual-injection diesel engine. The experimental results showed that the substitution of diesel with blended fuel increases the amount of HC and CO, but reduces the NOx and PM significantly.

  • 지구온난화 현상과 화석연료의 고갈에 대한 두려움 때문에 재생에너지에 대한 관심이 지속적으로 증가하고 있다. 이에 따라 대체에너지, 합성가스, 화학 원료, 오일 등으로 전환할 수 있는 바이오매스 활용에 대한 연구도 활발히 진행되고 있다. 바이오매스의 열화학적 전환 공정에는 열분해, 연소, 가스화 등이 이용되고 있다. 특히 열분해는 syringol, levoglucosan, guaiacol등의 고부가가치 물질들을 생산하기에 적합한 기술로 인정받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 국내에서 쉽게 구할 수 있는 톱밥, 폐목재 등의 바이오매스의 열화학적 전환 특성을 분석하였다. 사용된 바이오매스의 열분해 특성은 열중량 분석기 및 열천칭 반응기를 통해 분석하였으며 이를 통해 유동충 반응기(지름 0.2m, 높이 2m)를 설계 및 제작하였다. 반응온도 및 산소 농도가 증가할수록 levoglucosan 등의 고부가가치 물질들의 수율이 낮아지며 페놀류가 급격히 증가함을 알 수 있었다. 회재 성분이 높은 왕겨의 바이오오일 수율은 톱밥보다 $30\%$이상 낮게 나타났다

  • Water emulsion technology has the problem of unstable combustion due to the rapid separation of water. To solve the problem, a hybrid mixing device was developed. The device attached on the burner was tested. As a result, the fuel consumption reduced to 12% in the similar condition of exhaust emissions and flame temperature, and 45.5%, 98.5% and 97.2% of NOx, CO, and smoke were reduced at the same inlet air and fuel flow rate.

  • Investigators who study on combustion in the cylinders of reciprocating piston type internal combustion engines have been encountered embarrassments due to the difficulties of adjusting specific parameter without interfacing other parameters such as cylinder wall temperature composition of gas in the cylinder existence of cylinder lubricant etc. Rapid compression-expansion machine the position and speed of piston of which are able to be controlled by means of a system controlled electrically and speed of piston of which are able to be controlled by means of a system controlled electrically and actuated hydraulically could be utilized as one of the most preferable countermeasures against those difficulties. Several units of rapid compression-expansion machines were developed but the speed up of frequency of piston movement still is the problem to be improved to cope with actual speed of internal combustion engines. Authors designed and manufactured a new rapid compression-expansion machine electrically controlled hydraulically actuated and computer programed and then examined the performance of one. Results of a set of experiments revealed acquirements of certain improvement of frequency of piston movement preserving the stability of system response and reproducing accurate compression ratio of cylinder those are the key function for the in-cylinder combustion experiments of internal combustion engines.

  • Insensitive Munitions(IM) of solid propulsion system are defined as munitions that fulfil the performance and operational requirements, but will minimize the violence of a reaction when subjected to inadvertant stimuli. It should be clear that the reaction violence of rocket motor subjected to thermal stimuli can be mitigated by reducing confinement prior to propellant reaction. Devices designed to do this by venting the rocket motor case are commonly referred to as mitigation devices. The objective of this paper is to introduce the technical information related to the pyrotechnic mitigation devices for insensitive munition of solid rocket motor.

  • 급속한 경제성장과 산업발달로 인해 국내외 에너지 소비량은 매년 크게 증가하고 있으며 이에 따라 화석연료의 사용도 증가하는 추세이다. 연소반응을 통한 화석연료의 사용은 GHG 중 가장 큰 요인인 $CO_2$를 배출한다. 따라서 막대한 양으로 배출되고 있는 $CO_2$ 발생을 억제하기 위하여 다양한 이산화탄소 고정화 기술이 연구 중에 있다. 그 중에서 경제성이 있고, 환경친화적이며 대량의 $CO_2$를 안정적이고 영구적으로 처리할 수 있는 기술로 주목되고 있는 연구가 광물질을 이용한 $CO_2$ 미네랄 Carbonation 처리기술에 대하여 반응특성을 고찰하였다. 대상 광물질로 Ca 보다 $CO_2$ 처리 시 친화적인 것으로 알려진 Mg가 많이 함유된 Silicate 계열의 사문석(Serpentine[Mg$_3$Si$_2$O$_{5}$(OH)$_4$])을 대상으로 Carbonation 반응특성을 실험을 통하여 고찰하였다. 실험은 TGA를 이용한 분석실험과 200cc 급 Autoclave를 이용한 $CO_2$의 직접주입실험을 수행하였다. TGA분석과 200cc 급 Autoclave를 이용한 실험을 통해서 Serpentine 의 경우 실험에서 정한 운전조건에서 $CO_2$와의 Carbonation 반응에 적합한 물질로 판단된다는 결론을 도출하였다.
