  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the differences in bond strength of four different indirect composites to the gold alloy and Ni-Cr alloy according to type of metal surface treatment after water storage. Materials and methods: Type IV gold alloy and Ni-Cr alloy were used for casting alloy while four types of indirect composite resins (Gradia, Tescera Sinfony and in;joy) were used in this study. Metal specimens were produced by casting and total of 240 specimens (60 specimens per one indirect composite group) were prepared. After bonding indirect composite resin and undergoing 24 hours of polymerization, customized jig was attached to the metal specimen and shear bond strength were measured using universal testing machine. Also, differences in shear bond strength before and after water storage for 240 hours were also measured. Results: In the measurement of shear bond strength according to the metal surface treatments, bead group showed high strength followed by loop and flatting group (P<.05). After being stored in water bath for 240 hours, Gradia showed statistically significant high bond strength compared to other indirect composite resins in all groups (P<.05). Conclusion: Shearbond strength was found to be different according to type of metal surface treatment and type of metal used after storage in water. Further studies need to be developed for clinical practices as three are still problems of microleakage, stain or wear.

  • In this study, CFRP and metal or nonmetal were bonded with adhesive and the fracture study on this material was carried out. CFRP at the upper side of specimen and metal or nonmetal were assigned at the lower side of specimen by using DCB specimen as the analysis condition. And it was desribed that the structural adhesive were bonded between both upper and lower sides. As this analysis result, the least equivalent stress was shown at the specimen bonded with aluminium. The maximum shear stress was shown to become lowest at the de-bonded CFRP specimen when titanium was used. In conclusion, it was shown that the deformation of specimen became lowest when titanium was used. On the basis of this study result, the esthetic sense can be shown as the fracture data of bonded interface using adhesive are grafted onto the real life.

  • In this paper, we design a UHF band RFID tag antenna which is conjugate matched to an impedance of a chip and also mountable on conductive materials. The proposed tag antenna is very compact($50{\times}30{\times}4mm$) with a modified PIFA shape. The proposed tag antenna has an advantage of easy matching to various chip input impedances. The performance of the antenna is evaluated by monitoring RCS in the reader direction. The RCS of the designed tag is $-10.2\;dBm^2$ when the chip is shorted and is $-21\;dBm^2$ when the chip impedance is a complex conjugate of the antenna impedance.

  • Software has been developed for simulating particle dispersion in a circular pipe with sudden-expansion, which models the fuel feeding system of a combustor that uses metal powder like aluminum as fuel. The Lagrangian based discrete tracer point method was employed for a plug flow of particles that satisfies local turbulent velocity fluctuations. A radial velocity component was created to improve the flow turning outwards in the recirculation zone. The particle distribution patterns from both with and without the component were directly compared with the experiments near the reattachment.

  • Azacrownoalkyl phenylphosphinic acids were synthesized and their competitive solvent extraction characteristics from water to chloroform layer were investigated. Phosphinic acids were synthesized in good yields by one step reaction of phenylphosphinate, aldehyde, and monoazacrown ether and then basic hydrolysis of the resulting phosphinate dsters. These complexing agents revealed a wide effective pH range in extraction of alkali metal ions from water to the organic phase and total metal ion loading at pH 11 was about 75%. The selectivity of the cation extraction was determined mainly by the cavity size of the azacrown ethers, showing $Na^+$ >> $K^+$ > $Rb^+$ > $Li^+$ > $Cs^+$ for the alkyl phenylphosphinic acid ${\underline{2}}$, containing monoaza-15-crown-5 and $K^+$ >> $Rb^+$ > $Na^+$ > $Cs^+$ > $Li^+$ for the alkyl phenylphosphinic acid, ${\underline{3}}$, containing monoaza-18-crown-6 moiety. Applicable pH range of these azacrown ether phosphinic acids in solvent extraction of alkali metal cations was wider than a crownether carboxylic acid with similar selectivity, showing considerable amount of metal ion loading in slightly acidic or neutral media.

  • The films of zeolite X on the surface of metal sieve were prepared by continuous crystallization method. It is known that the growth of zeolite crystal on the surface of metal is mainly dependent on the surface composition of metal sieve. In the present work, the zeolite nuclei could be easily formed as Cr content on the metal surface was removed by acid treatment. In order to investigate the proedure growing of zeolite crystal by the continuous crystallization method, the composition of zeolite X($6.36Na_2O-Al_2O_3-5.3SiO_2-190.8H_2O$)was supplied every 12hour. Then the mechanism and inter-relationship between the metal surface and nucleation are investigated. The results show that as the content of silica increases in the gel mixture, the nuclei of zeoilite are easily formed on the metal surface. Also, it was confirmed that the particle of zeolite stuck on the metal surface continues the linear growth. The particles are combined by the reaction of polycondensation, and finally become the shape of crystal. The sample synthesized by the film type was confirmed as zeolite X by the analyses of SEM and XRD.

  • Operating characteristics of a loop heat pipe (LHP) having a bypass line was investigated experimentally. The LHP had a sintered metal wick as a capillary structure and methanol as a working fluid. The sintered metal wick was made of stainless steel of which the average pore size was 5 ${\mu}m$and porosity of 47%. A bypass line of a small diameter was attached between the vapor escape passage and the liquid reservoir. The dimension of the flat evaporator was $50(L){\times}40(W){\times}30(H)$ mm and that of the condenser was $50(L){\times}40(W){\times}11(H)$ mm. Wall and pipe material of the LHP was stainless steel and heating area was 35(W) mm${\times}$35(L) mm. The inner diameters of vapor and liquid transport lines were 4.0 mm and 2.0 mm, and the lengths of the two lines were both 0.5 m. The LHP was tested for three different tilt angles of horizontal, favorite tilt, and adverse tilt. The thermal load range was up to 290 W at the condenser above evaporation position. Furthermore, the effect of a bypass line on the start-up transient as well as steady-state operation was presented and discussed.

  • To establish nondestructive test method for rocket motor assembly with rubber and aerospace composite materials, practicable quality control acoustic emission test method is presented. Structural analysis for motor assembly is performed by ABAQUS code and analysis output result is confirmed by strain gage and AE data. Various specimens were tested and analyzed using strain gage and acoustic emission data. The hit rate of acoustic emission was closely related with case/rubber debonding. This report also describes practicable acoustic emission nondestructive method for evaluating motor case assembly quality assurance in the industrial field.
