  • Non-metric camera is more profitable than metric camera for geometric analysis of small and elaborate structures, because focal length control of non-metric camera is flexible while generally metric camera has limited focal length. And if the problem of conventional method requiring much time and endeavor to measure three dimensional positions of control points will be solved effectively, it is possible to analyze very close-range photogrammetry more easily and quickly. The purposes of this study are to propose the efficiency of non-metric camera and to reduce difficulty of control survey sharply by introducing self-control survey method. For these, very close-range photographs of the small object were obtained by using non-metric camera calibrated for systematic errors and then bundle adjustment is used for analysis procedure. As a result, the superiority of non-metric camera in analyzing very close-range photographs and the application proptriety of self-control survey were proved, therefore it is expected to be able to apply to precise analysis of small structures or spearhead parts.

  • In close-range photogrammetry, to employ non-metric camera especially for the purpose of precise measurement, systematic errors must, first of all, be corrected as they have a great influence on accuracies of results. For it, fiducial marks was built in non-metric camera and the factors such as PPS, PPA, EFL, CFL, and radial lens distortion coefficients for each quadrant were calibrated through collimator test. Also, the coefficients of both radial and tangential lens distortion were calibrated from analytical plumb line method and therefore main systematic errors could be effectively corrected. Using the calibrated non-metric camera, close-range photogrammetry could be successfully accomplished and accuracies could be improved sharply.

  • This paper presents soil deformation measurement in model chamber based on photogrammetry. We created an aluminum framed acrylic model chamber with soil inside and applied photogrammetry to measure soil deformation caused by loading tests. The soil consists of 40% black and 60% regular sand to create image contrast in soil images. In preprocessing, the self camera calibration was carried out for IOPs (Interior Orientation Parameters), followed by the space resection to estimate EOPs (Exterior Orientation Parameters) using control points located along the aluminum frame. Image matching was applied to measure the soil displacement. We tested different matching window sizes and the effect of image smoothing. Experimental results showed that 65x65 pixels of window size produced better soil deformation map and the image smoothing was useful to suppress the matching outliers. In conclusion, photogrammetry was able to efficiently generated soil deformation map.

  • The development of still video CCD cameras has simplified dramatically the digital imaging process. Still video cameras have flexibility that allows digital image acquisition and on-board image storage without being connected to a computer. The objective of this paper is to evaluate the performance of digital close-range photogrammetric system using the still video camera for dimensional inspection and structural monitoring being required in various industries. Some sub-pixel measurement techniques, which is indispensable for digital image measurement, were suggested. The author carried out the self-calibration of a high resolution DCS420 still video camera and then test application of a structure. The self-calibrating bundle adjustments resulted in object space accuracies which exceed 1 :46,000. It is ascertained that this digital close-range photogrammetric system has high accuracy potential and task effectiveness for industrial applications.

  • This study aims to analyze stone's surface roughness measurement accuracy of a high resolution DCS 420 digital camera by digital close-range photogrammetric technique. For this purpose, the surface roughness measurement system was constructed by means of microsoft visual basic 6.0 in windows. As the analysis results of measurement accuracy of digital camera using this system, the roughness error of the normal distance between the best fitting reference surface obtained by least square method and sample points in the ideal plane or surface did not exceed $\pm$0.1 mm

  • Digital close-range photogrammetric technique can measure and describe 3D geometric form from 2D image. This technique is a growing applicability in the field of sciences. Nevertheless, civil and mechanical field, which need measurements as precise as possible, use expensive measuring instruments in general. In addition there are occasions for analysis by means of visual method, since appropriate measuring instruments have been not yet available. This study therefore developed digital close-range photogrammetric technique with a movable orientation board to quickly measure deformation before and after destruction from simulated ground model of reinforced-soil wall. Then the results are compared with the measurements obtained using digital theodolite.

  • It is well-known that non-metric digital cameras have to be calibrated for the close-range photogrammetry. But, the self-calibration is still not an easy task because it requires rather a large calibration site of accurate control points, multiple image acquisitions in different positions, and accurate image point measurements that are quite labor-intensive and time-consuming. Based on the premise, this study carried out check point accuracy analysis from self-calibration of different control point designs and photo combinations. The test results showed that the calibration using three photos covering three-dimensional control points produced high accuracy, but control points on a plane could attain the comparable accuracy with four photos including a 90-degree rotated photo. We then compared the target accuracy of on-site self-calibration using flat control points to that of laboratory-self calibration and observed comparable results.

  • In this study, the 3D position coordinates were calculated for the targets using DLT and self-calibration bundle adjustment with additional parameters in close-range photogrammetry. And then, the accuracy of the results were analysed. For this purpose, the results of camera calibration and orientation parameters were calculated for each images by performing reference surveying using total station though the composition of experimental conditions attached numerous targets. To analyze the accuracy, 3D position coordinates were calculated for targets that has been identically selected and compared with the reference coordinates obtained from a total station. For the image coordinate measurement of the stereo images, we performed the ellipse fitting procedure for measuring the center point of the circular target. And then, the results were utilized for the image coordinate for targets. As a results from experiments, position coordinates calculated by the stereo images-based photogrammetry have resulted out the deviation of less than an average 4mm within the maximum error range of less than about 1cm. From this result, it is expected that the stereo images-based photogrammetry would be used to field of various close-range photogrammetry required for precise accuracy.
