The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of hemiplegia on weight shift when mediating task-oriented activities in stroke patients. To this end, from September to December 2019, 33 patients with stroke were randomly assigned and divided into 17 experimental groups and 16 control groups. The experimental group provided task-oriented activities, and the control group general occupational therapy was conducted 3 times a week, 35 minutes per session for a total of 4 weeks. The weight shift of the left and right body was evaluated by the MTD balance system, and an initial evaluation before intervention and a re-evaluation was performed after 4 weeks of intervention. The result were as follows: 1) When evaluating the pre- and post-intervention within the group, the weight shift to the hemiplegia side showed an improvement in the weight shift to the hemiplegia side in both the experimental group(p<.001), and control groups(p<.001, p<.05). 2) In the pre- and post-intervention evaluation between groups, the experimental group showed a statistically significant improvement in weight shift to the control group(p<.01, p<.05). Through future supplementary studies, it is thought that task-oriented activities in the treatment of stroke patients could be usefully applied to promote weight transfer to the paralysis side.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify the effects of neonatal developmental intervention program (NDT) in promoting motor development and growth and to determine the usefulness of Hammersmith Neonatal Neurological Examination (HNNE) and Neonatal Behavioral Assessment Scale (NBAS) in premature infants. Methods: We performed NDT on selected premature infants (PI, n=42) and compared them with the full term control group (FC, n=20). NDT protocol and development assessment (HNNE, NBAS) were manipulated by the physical therapist in the neonatal intensive care unit. The data of this study were collected prospectively. Results: The PI with GA <34 weeks (VPI) subgroup showed a more use of mechanical ventilator and surfactant, severe bronchopulmonary dysplasia and intraventricular hemorrhage, and patent ductus arteriosus treated surgically than the PI with GA $\geq$34 weeks but less than 37 weeks (LPI) subgroup. The average scores improved significantly in the PI group between the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd assessment by repeated measure (P=0.000). Also, the PI group showed significantly higher total scores and average score at 40 weeks postmenstrual age, P=0.000, respectively than in the FC group. The LPI subgroup showed more weight gain and change in the head circumference between the 1st and 3rd assessment by repeated measure, respectively, P<0.05. The PI group showed no apnea, bradycardia and late sepsis associated with intervention and assessment. Conclusion: The NDT might be a safe and useful intervention to promote motor and growth outcomes in premature infants. Also, the HNNE and NBAS might be safe and useful tools for assessing neurodevelopment in premature infants.

Results : The Quality of Social interaction indicated a statistical significance by all targeted children after intervention. Also a statistical significance was indicated in the Frequency of Social interaction as there appeared consecutively more than two of the values of baseline A average and Standard deviation band from all targeted children at the free-play implemented after each intervention of every phase. Conclusion : It could be verified that Brotherhood Group Sensory integration intervention has a positive effect to Social interaction of the Children with Pervasive Developmental Disorders. Therefore, the Brotherhood Group Sensory integration intervention can be effectively applicable as being a therapy to improve Social interaction toward Children with Pervasive Developmental Disorders at the clinic.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of taping, stretching and ultrasound on convergent balance ability with induced ankle muscle fatigue. Thirty-nine healthy adults participated voluntarily in this study. After the induction of their's ankle muscle fatigue, they were randomly assigned as taping, static stretching, or ultrasound group. And the intervention corresponding to each group was applied. Before and after induced ankle fatigue and after intervention, balance ability was measured using Space Balance 3D. Balance ability was no significant difference among groups (p>.05), but significantly increased within all three groups (p<.001). Therefore, the taping, static stretching, and ultrasound on ankle muscle fatigue are effective in convergent balance ability. In future studies, it is necessary to prove the therapeutic effect by applying various measurement variables and therapeutic intervention.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to analyze group programs for the elderly living in communities and to provide basic data for applying effective occupational therapy programs for the elderly in the community. Methods : From January 2009 to December 2019, articles on group programs for the elderly in the community were searched for in the NDSL, DBPia, Riss, and PubMed databases. Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, a total 16 out of the 147 identified studies were selected and analyzed. This review analyzed the characteristics of the participants, contents of the group program, session and duration of the intervention, outcome measures, and effect of the group program. Results : Single group pre-post test studies with evidence level III were most common (8, 50.0%), and five (31.3%) of the studies were conducted on the community-dwelling elderly. Across all the 16 studies, there were 10 types of group programs, and the most frequently used was an exercise group program (25.0%). According to the analysis of the group program period, sessions and time, the intervention period was most commonly 12 weeks (37.5%), with 8 sessions or 12 sessions (25.0%). The intervention time in the group program was most commonly 60 minutes (43.8%). Conclusion : This study can be used as a basis for the development of effective group programs for the elderly and patients with dementia in community-based long-term care services.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of paired-group sensory integration therapy on sensory processing, peer interaction, and play development of four-year-old children. Methods : This study involved 13 weekly sessions of a four-minute intervention as well as an initial 10 minutes of parental counseling for those without experience of paired-group sensory integration therapy. The intervention consisted of sensory processing activities and various occupational activities, and the children's Short Sensory Profile (SSP), Penn Interactive Peer Play Scale (PIPPS), and Knox Preschool Play Scale-Revised (KPPS-R) were measured before and after the sessions for comparison. The results are presented using visualized data. Results : After the paired-group interventions, all subjects showed improved sensory processing ability according to their SSP scores and improved play development on the KPPS-R. Moreover, the frequency of negative interactions decreased in the PIPPS measure. Conclusion : This paired-group sensory integration therapy had a positive effect on sensory processing, peer interaction, and play for children with developmental delay. In the future, research that applies this kind of paired-group intervention in various age groups would be useful.

Objective : The purpose of this article is to study the effectiveness of a group occupational therapy for children via systematic review, and to provide clinical evidences. Methods : The systematic review initially included articles in Pubmed, Ovid, RISS, KISS, and DBpia, published until 2014. Total 14 articles have been chosen, using different keyword of each domestic/foreign studies. Selected articles were divided depending on the level of evidence, and eventually been organized into group PICO (Patient, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome). Results : The results indicated that there are more diagnosed children than normal in participants and especially children with sensory integration disorder (28.6%) appeared to be the most common. In intervention, group sensory integrative intervention had the largest frequency, and instruments measuring social skills were used most for analyzing the intervention results. The effectiveness of interventions showing statistically significant results were 40.7% of Total. Conclusion : Group occupational therapy for children should be provided to various diagnosis with widely better quality of interventions providing the enough support for the evidence level.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of task oriented activity and modified constraint induced movement therapy (mCIMT) on Quality of Life (QOL) for patients with stroke. Methods : Thirty stroke patients were participated voluntarily and were assigned randomly into task oriented activity and mCIMT groups. The QOL of both groups were assessed using Stroke Specific Quality of Life (SS-QOL). Results : The QOL showed a statistically meaningful difference for both groups (p<.05), but after the intervention, the both groups showed no statistically meaningful difference in terms of the QOL (p>.05). Conclusion : We found that task oriented activity and mCIMT improve the QOL of patients with stroke through increasing their affected upper extremity function and movement. It is expected that task oriented activity and mCIMT will have a positive effect on the QOL of stroke patients by applying them to clinic with occupational therapy.
