The sulfonated PET-g-GMA ion-exchange fine fibers were synthesized by UV radiation-induced graft copolymerization using a photoinitiator, and their chemical structure and adsorption properties were investigated. The optimum values for synthetic conditions - UV intensity, reaction time, and reaction temperature were 450 W, 60 min, and $40^{\circ}C$, respectively. Maximum values of the degree of sulfonation and ion exchange capacity were 8.12 mmol/g and 3.25 meq/g, respectively. Tensile strength of sulfonated PET-g-GMA fine ion exchange fibers was lower than that of PET trunk polymer as the grafting reaction rates increased. It was shown that as for the adsorption rate of $Ca^{2+}$ and $Mg^{2+}$ by the sulfonated PET-g-GMA fine ion exchange fibers, magnesium ion is slower than calcium ion in the solution. However, in the mixture of the calcium and magnesium ions, the adsorption rate of calcium ion was much slower than that of magnesium ion.
The ACF/PP-g-AAc copolymers were synthesized by the irradiational grafting of acrylic acid onto ACF/PP fabric. The synthesis of copolymer was evidenced by the bands at 1720, 3600~3100 $cm^{-1}$ / on FT-IR spectrum. After the adsorption of metal ions on ACF/PP-g-AAc copolymers, the morphology with the small deposits on the fiber surface were observed by SEM. The optimal time for the metal ion adsorption equilibrium on ACF/PP-g-AAc copolymers was 24 hrs and their adsorption capacities increased in the order of Mn$^{2+}$>Cu$^{2+}$>Co$^{2+}$>Ni$^{2+}$. The adsorption capacities of ACF/PP-g-AAc copolymers were invariable after more than 10 times of regeneration.eration.
The surface of Alnico, one of the industrial dust waste, was treated with 1,3,5-trivinyl-1,3,5-trimethylcyclotrisilazane (VMS) as a surface treating agent and used as the filler for vibration isolator rubber. Maleated EPDM prepared from bulk polymerization of EPDM with maleic anhydride was copolymerized with ${\alpha},{\omega}$-bis(3-aminopropyl)polydimethylsiloxane to obtain maleated EPDM-polydimethylsiloxane copolymer (MEPDM-PDMS). EPDM/Alnico/MEPDM-PDMS vibration isolator rubber was prepared from compounding with Alnico treated with surface treating agent, 25 and 50 phrs to EPDM, respectvely based on 1 to 10 wt% of MEPDM-PDMS to EPDM. From the measurement of the thermal properties to the rubber, the glass transition temperatures (Tg) for the rubber containing maleated EPDM-PDMS copolymer was slightly lower temperature, $33^{\circ}C$ than EPDM rubber, and also DMA results showed higher tan ${\delta}$ peak to the rubber prepared from compounding with EPDM-PDMS copolymer. From the results, rubber prepared using EPDM-PDMS copolymer had better vibration isolator property.

Graft copolymerization of MMN4-VP onto cotton fiber using Ce(IV) salt as an initiator and triton X-100 as an emulsifier was performed under various polymerization conditions. In cograft polymerization, the polymeization behavior according to variation of 4-VP feed composition and the characteristics of MMA/4-VP graft polymer such as affinity for acid dye owing to cationization of cotton, antibacterial activity and thermal behavior were investigated. The results of this study were as follows : 1. While in copolymerization of MMA and 4-VP, 4-VP content in copolymer was more than that of monomer feed composition. 2. Increasing 4-VP content, graft yield was decreased, but graft efficiency was increased. In case of MMA/4-VP graft polymerization, the highest graft yield was obtained at higher CAN concentration than in MMA graft polymerization, the reason is that the behavior of 4-VP was disturbed by Ce(IV) sail 3. Elevation of temperature resulted in increase of graft yield and the apparent activation energy of MMA/4-VP graft polymerization was higher than that of MMA graft polymerization. 4. MMA/4-VP grafted cotton fiber showed affinity for acid dye, antibacterial activity and higher moisture regain than MMA grafted cotton fiber. MMA/4-VP grafted cotton fabric showed improvement of wrinkle recovery up to 40~50% graft yield and decreased thereafter. MMA/4-VP and MMA grafted cotton fabric did not showed significant difference in wrinkle recovery and stiffness.

Cationic liposomes for cancer treatment have been developed in the field of chemotharpy. It was well combined on the surface of anionic tumor cell membrane by electrostatic interaction. Thus, the object of this study was to prepare the cationic liposomes capable of forming an ionic complex with the anionic cell membrane. To prepare the cationic liposomes, 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (DSPE) as a cationic lipid material and polyethylenimine (PEI) as a cationic polymer were synthesized. Ionic property on the surface of liposomes was determined by the zeta potential. The adsorption characteristics of plasma protein for liposome in bovine serum were determined by the particle size and turbidity change. To estimate the stability of liposome in buffered solution, the change of particle size was measured at room temperature for seven days. The cationic liposomes were absorbed a large amount of plasma protein in bovine serum because plasma protein having anionic charge was fixed on the surface of cationic liposomes. This result indicate that the modification on the surface of liposomes using cationic polyethylenimine enhances the protein adsorption in bovine serum. Additionaly, cationic liposomes showed good stability in buffered solution for seven days.

This study is to optimize the enzyme(lipase) activity for biodiesel production. The ion-exchanged non-woven fabrics(EtA, DEA-EtA non-woven fabric) containing ethanolamine, diethylamine groups are used by radiation induced grafted polymerization onto a non-woven fabric for more effective immobilization of lipase. Since the porous hollow fiber membranes are showed the low throughputibehe non-woven fabric membranes are used for biodiesel production. The physical charateristics of enzyme immobilized and the enzyme activity to EtA and DEA-EtA non-woven fabrics are studied. The EtA non-woven fabrics are quite similar to DEA-EtA non-woven fabric for the amount of enzyme immobilized(EtA non-woven fabric:15.69 mg/g, DEA-EtA non-woven fabric:14.45 mg/g) but DEA-EtA non-woven fabrics have shown the lower permeabiliquite the organic solvent than the EtA non-woven fabrics(EtA non-woven fabric:$3.50mol/h{\cdot}kg$, DEA-EtA non-woven fabric:$0.38mol/h{\cdot}kg$). Optimum characteristics of ehe non-woven fabric membranes and the limilaractivity are also investigated for the effective biodiesel production.

Chitosan was prepared from chitin which was abstracted from wasted crab shells. Then itaconic acid was graft-copolymerized onto chitosan using ceric ammonium nitrate as a reaction initiator. To investigate the optimal grafting conditions, the influences of several factors on the grafting were studied, i. e., the concentrations of CAN and itaconic acid, the reaction temperature and time. And to find out its flocculation ability. the flocculation test was carried out with a metal plating factory waste water. The state of graft-copolymer was identified through IR spectra analysis. The optimal grafting conditions and flocculation results were shown to be : concentration of ceric ammonium nitrate is $3.5{\times}10^3M$, reaction temperature is $40^{\circ}C$ and reaction time is 4hrs with 0.25M of the monomer(itaconic acid). Though flocculation tests using chitosan, grafted chitosan and cation, CODcr. metal ions removal rates were measured. The order of superiority is Itaconic acid grafted chitosan>Chitosan>Cationic polymer.
In this study, we investigated the effect of temperature on specific surface area and electrochemical properties when lignin-based porous carbon (LBPC) with potassium hydroxide (KOH) is activated. After preparing LBPCs using lignin-polyacrylonitrile (PAN) copolymer, which was synthesized by graft polymerizing lignin and acrylonitrile as a precursor, activated LBPCs (KA-LBPC-6, 7, 8, 9) were manufactured by activating LBPC with KOH at 600℃, 700℃, 800℃ and 900℃. To identify the surface characteristics of KA-LBPC, observations were made with a scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and the pore characteristics were identified via specific surface area analysis. The electrochemical properties were analyzed using a three-electrode system. The experiment has shown that micropores formed by activation can be observed in SEM images. KA-LBPC-7 had the best pore characteristics among KA-LBPCs, with a specific surface area of 2480.1 m2/g, a micropore volume of 0.64 cm3/g, and a mesopore volume of 0.76 cm3/g. KA-LBPC-7 showed the best electrochemical properties with a specific capacitance of 151.3 F/g at the scan rate of 2 mV/s.

The leather industry generates a large amount of hazardous leather waste of various types every year. Among them, shaving scrap is difficult to recycle because it contains chromium ions. Many studies in recent years have shown that shaving scraps can be processed into various types of valuable products, such as adsorbent, filler, and poultry feed. In this study, collagen peptides were extracted from shaving scraps and structurally modified to be developed as new materials with improved physicochemical properties. First, the chromium ions contained in the shaving scraps were removed using a sodium hydroxide solution, and purified through concentration and low-temperature crystallization. The purified collagen peptide was used to prepare the powder using a spray dryer. The extracted collagen peptides were structurally modified by introducing double bonds by reacting with methacrylic anhydride (MAA), and the product was confirmed by 1H NMR spectroscopy. Next, a copolymer was prepared by redox polymerization of the modified collagen peptide (MCP) and 2-ethylhexyl acrylate (2-EHA). The structure of the copolymer was qualitatively confirmed by FT-IR. In conclusion, this study confirmed that collagen peptides can be extracted from shaving scrap and converted into new eco-friendly materials through certain treatments.
