The Performance Analysis of Diamond Grinding for Existing Concrete Pavement (기존 콘크리트 포장의 성능 향상을 위한 다이아몬드 그라인딩 공법의 초기 공용성 평가)

  • The maintenance / repair of concrete pavements has become an issue as a result of increasing of concrete pavements' service year. Asphalt overlay is applied to the concrete pavements after partial repairs on all occasions. This thesis discusses the application standard, evenness, skid resistance, noise, economical efficiency, extension of life span, etc. of diamond grinding, a method of maintenance about concrete pavements. Based on this, it was applied to the field and measured the performance. It was measured the longitudinal evenness of before and after the construction through measurement equipment. and surveyed the skid resistance the each lane classified using the SN standard value. In case of noise, it is selected the kind of vehicle, velocity, then measured the noise between control and constructed site. In addition, it is evaluated the average texture depth. As a result of the analysis, longitudinal evenness is improved about $6{\sim}40%$, skid resistance is improved 66% at first section,37% at second section. Noise is reduced 3.4dB average, and average texture depth is 79% deeper than control section. Therefore, it can be concluded that diamond grinding is suitable as maintenance / repair method of concrete pavements.

  • A standing grinder with a vacuum dust collection, which works grinding a surface and collecting dust occurred simultaneously, is needed to clean the surface before painting, or to remove a weld bead burr in the industrial field. In recent it trends to be compact and potable with high grinding and dust collection power, and low noise. As increasing these grinding and dust collection power, the noise and weight of standing grinder occurs an important problem. To solve these problem, an efficient cyclone separator was designed and developed by Ansys-CFX analysis and experiments. A weight of the developed grinder part was 5.9kg, which can be easily handled on standing by workers. and a noise level of the developed prototype was measured 69.9 dB(A).

  • This work measured the hand-transmitted vibration due to shipyard worker's grinding and assessed the vibration exposure for predicted 10% prevalence of vibration-induced white finger in a group of exposed persons according to test procedure of ISO 5349-1. And also the transmissibility performance of resilient material, mainly applied to anti-vibration gloves in present market was measured on the basis of ISO 13753 and confirmed that the material would Probably not provide greater attenuation below 30㎐, the dominant frequency range of hand-transmitted vibration due to grinder.

  • To find the location of a random noise source present in the three-dimensional space is required at least four microphones. Using four microphones distributed in a three-dimensional space, noise source imaging technique was applied and evaluated on their performance. To compensate resolution problem which comes from both the position of the sensor array is fixed and the sampling frequency is low, up-sampling technique and interpolation function were applied. Five different interpolation methods were applied such as zero-padding, zero-order hold, first-order hold, spline function, and random signal padding. The up-sampling rate were chosen by two, four, eight times, and counting up 16 times. As a result, it was possible to more accurately estimate the position of the noise source according to the higher of the up-sampling rate. It also found that the first-order hold and the spline function's performance were slightly falling relative to other methods.

  • Gouging is defined as the removal of weld metal and base metal from the opposite of a partially welded joint to facilitate complete joint penetration. Since the work by current method needs skillful welding and grinding, there is a limit on the increase of operation efficiency. Noise and dust from the weld gouging also deteriorate the work place and cause environmental problems. In this study, the gouging work by cutting method is proposed to overcome the defects from weld gouging such as low productivity, severe noise, dense dust, and so on. The developed cutting gouging system removes material as much as $13,565mm^3/min$, and enlarge the labor productivity as three times compared to that by weld gouging method.

  • To improve the gear noise quality, gear tooth grinding machine are widely used in automotive industry. While using the gear profile grinding machine to improve the gear tooth quality of the transmission, several defects such as chattering, tooth waves that cause the gear noise occasionally happened. But it is very difficult to solve that problem, because there is no one who knows the setting up the optimal grinding condition appropriately. The abnormal manufacturing conditions which make the gear noise make the engineer to spend a lot of time, effort, and money. Due to demands for solving the serious abnormal gear noise happened in the automatic transmission in the mass product stage, the vibration checking process in the worm wheel axis, work rotation and fixed axis of the grinding machine were adapted to find the root causes. As a result, gear profile wave are affected by the work rotation axis's unbalance which is caused by worm wheel feeding speed. And a primary and the secondary grinding feeding speed, cutting oil, work fixed forces are also proved as the important factors. After setting up the grinding condition reported in this paper, it was adapted successfully to the grinding machine to manufacture the new automatic transmissions' gear. The gear noise was dramatically disappeared and the process and the results will offer good guides to the engineers who manufacture the gear with the grinding machine.
