In some cases, wooden structures are used for medium-rise buildings. It is therefore necessary to develop and test a new structural system for medium-rise buildings using wooden structures. This study deals with high-performance, laminated, timber-based composite members, which consist of structural laminated timber and H-beam. Simple beam tests were performed to determine the strength, stress distributions, and failure patterns of laminated timber. The main parameters are the insertinglength (1, 1.5, and 2 times the H-beam height) and the epoxy between the top/bottom flange of the H-beam and the top/bottom flange of the laminated timber. The results of the test show that the specimen with an inserting length that is 2 times the H-beam height was characterized by fairly god strength and stiffness.
Asphalt pavement tends to rut in high temperature and to crack in cold temperature. The performance of asphalt pavement can be deteriorated by korean weather condition which has the four distinct seasons. In this study, the typical sections that may minimize rutting and fatigue were analyzed through the numerical model tests. The layered elastic theory , finite element method and visco elastic theory were utilized for these numerical model tests. From the various numerical model tests, it is found that an optimum design procedure was recommended. It was increasing the thickness of asphalt stabilized base with fixing the wearing course as 5cm the minimum specified thickness. The section was most beneficial in resting rutting and fatigue. From the analysis of the relative index on tensile strain and cost analysis, it was recommended that the thickness ratio of subbase and asphalt concrete is 1.0$\sim$2.5.

A new process, gelcasting in aqueous medium, to fabricate complex-shaped ceramic core has investigated. The ceramic slurry, mixture of fused silica powder and additives such as zircon and cordierite, was electrosterically stabilizes. The slip was prepared by ball milling of polydispered ceramic suspension with monomer, dimer and dispersant. The rheological behavior of slip was evaluated by viscosity measurement. It was found that the high solid loading of polydispersed ceramic slip, which has low viscosity of 50vol%, is possible to obtained. The viscosity of the slip was significantly dependent upon the amount of polymer dispersant and the formulation of monomer and dimer. The green bodies were fabricated through casting and gelation at room temperature followed by drying at $25^{\circ}C$ for 48hrs under relative humidity of 80~85%. Crack-free green body was successfully fabricated through the above process.

The mode II fracture behavior of a single-layer graphene sheet (SLGS) containing a center crack was characterized with the results of an atomistic simulation and an analytical model. The fracture of zigzag graphene models was analyzed with molecular dynamics and the mode II fracture toughness was found to be $2.04MPa{\sqrt{m}}$. The in-plane shear fracture of a cellular material was analyzed theoretically for deriving the $K_{IIc}$ of SLGS, and FEM results were obtained. Mixed-mode fracture of SLGS was studied for various mode I and mode II ratios. The mixed-mode fracture criterion was determined, and the obtained fracture envelope was in good agreement with that of another study.

In this paper, as elastic-plastic fracture toughness test under mixed mode loading was proposed using a single edge-cracked specimen subjected to bending moment(M), shearing force(F), and twisting moment(T). The J-integral of a crack in the specimen is expressed in the form J=$J_I$+ $J_II$$J_III$, where $J_I$, $J_II$ and $J_III$ are the components of mode I, mode II and mode III deformation, respectively. $J_I$, $J_II$ and $J_III$ can be estimated from M-$\theta$ ($\theta$;crack opening angle), F-U(U; crack shear displacement) and T-$\alpha$ ($\alpha$;crack twisting angle). In order to obtain the the M<-TEX>$\theta$, F-U and T-$\alpha$ diagram inreal time, a new deformaiton gage for mixed mode loading was proposed using the optical position sensing device(PSD). The elastic-plastic fracture toughness test was carried out with an aluminum alloy. The loading apparatus was designed and manufactured for this experiment. For the loading condition of the crack initatio in the mixed mode, the MMT -3(mode I+ mode II+ mode III) has the lowest values out of the all specimens. This implies that MMT-3 is possible of the crackinitation at lower load, if the specimen acts on together with the torque under the same loading condition. An elastic-plastic fracture toughness test using the PSD brings a successful experimentation in measuring the crack deformation(mode I+ mode II+ mode III).

Fourier transform has been one of the most common tools to study the frequency characteristics of signals. With the Fourier transform alone, however, it is difficult to tell whether signal's frequency contents evolve in time or not. Except for a few special cases, the frequency contents of most signals encountered in the real world change with time. Time-frequency analysis methods are developed recently to overcome the drawbacks of Fourier transform, which can represent the information of signals in time and frequency at the same time. In this study, damage process of a cross-ply carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) under monotonic tensile loading was characterized by acoustic emission. Different kinds of CFRP specimens were used to determine the characteristics of AE signals. Time-frequency analysis methods were employed for the analysis of fracture mechanisms in CFRP such as mix cracking, debonding, fiber fracture and delamination.

Carbon fibre reinforced plastic(CFRP) plate is one of the alternative materials for strengthening of reinforced and prestressed concrete members due to excellent strength and light weight. In this paper, the behavior of slabs strengthened with CFRP plate is observed and analyzed from the test results. Especially specimens with thick plate is tested when large moment and large shear force appear in same position. The failure mode is a peeling-off of the CFRP plate due to flexural-shear crack. This is observed near the loading points with thick plates. Because of this failure mode, thickness of CFRP plates does not influence on the failure loads. Depending on the loading pattern, it is necessary to consider different design criteria for reinforced concrete members with external reinforcement. When large moment and large shear force appear in same location, maximum thickness may limit to 0.6mm and ratio between moment of strengthened slab and moment of unstrengthened slab is proposed 1.5-2.0.

This paper discusses the surface roughness of corroded reinforcement rebar in reinforced concrete structures focusing on the quantitative measurement technique for rebar corrosion. Reinforcement rebar was corroded using accelerated corrosion induced method and corrosion rates were 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, 5%, and 10% of mass losses. Using 3-dimensional scanner each surface profile of reinforcement rebar was established, and surface roughness was measured. Through tests and analyses of corroded reinforcement rebar, the following topics were particularly discussed: measurement of surface roughness, relationship between area and surface roughness, relationship between surface roughness and bond performance. As a result, surface roughness of corroded rebar was found to be very effective to bond strength until 2% of corrosion rate. It was also discussed how to relate surface roughness of corroded rebar to bond strength of reinforced concrete structures.
Liquefaction occurs by a temporal loss of sediment strength as a consequence of increased pore water pressure during the re-arrangement of unconsolidated, granular sediments. Liquefaction is dependent on the physical properties of the sediments and cause surface cracks, landslide, and the formation of soft-sediment deformation structures(SSDS). SSDS is formed by the combined action of the driving force and deformation mechanism(liquefaction, thixotropy, and fluidization) that is triggered by endogenic or exogenic triggers. So research on the SSDS can unravel syndepositional geological events. If detailed sedimentologic analysis together with surrounding geological context suggest SSDS formed by earthquakes, the SSDS provide a clue to unravel syndepositional tectonic activities and detailed paleoseismological information(> Mw 5) including earthquakes that leave no surface expression.

Recently, research and development has been conducted to impart high performance and functionality to concrete materials by mixing various reinforcing materials into the matrix. Ductile fiber reinforced concrete using a large amount of fibers shows a distributed multiple cracking behavior, and various studies are being conducted on this material. However, research is focused on static behavioral analysis but studies on cyclic behaviors are not sufficient. In this study, beams were made of ductile fiber reinforced concrete with various fiber contents, and static and fatigue flexural tests were performed. As a result, the effect of fiber content on the flexural behavior was analyzed. Also, the applied load level and fatigue life relationship of ductile fiber reinforced concrete was proposed. Concrete with high ductile property could be achieved with a fiber content of 2%. When 0.5% fiber was more added, the maximum flexural strength was similar, but the flexural toughness is nearly doubled. On the other hand, there was no significant difference in the fatigue life of these two mixtures.
