Development of Software GPS Receiver for GEO Satellites Using Weak Signal Receiver Algorithm (미약신호 수신 알고리즘을 활용한 정지궤도위성 탑재용 소프트웨어 GPS 수신기 개발)

  • The altitudes of GEO satellites are higher than those of GPS satellites. Therefore the visibility and the received power of GPS signals are totally different from those of the users near the Earth's surface. In this study, we analyzed the visibility of GPS signals received on GEO satellites. And we also developed a software GPS receiver that works on GEO satellites using CCMDB algorithm which is a weak signal receiver algorithm. GPS signals received on a GEO satellite are generated by a commercial hardware GPS simulator and used for the verification of the developed software GPS receiver. The mean 3D position and velocity error are calculated as 165.636 m and 0.5081 m/s.

Comparison of Ride Comfort between Korean and European High Speed Railway by using Continuous Comfort Method (Continuous Comfort 방법을 이용한 국내외 고속철도 승차감 비교)

  • Ride comfort of a vehicle can be utilized to maintain the track geometry and track irregularities because ride comfort of the rolling stock is affected by the characteristics of the vehicle and track. Ride comfort was evaluated according to the measured floor acceleration data of vehicles for a Korean high speed line as well as European high speed lines using Continuous comfort method which can be applied to track maintenance. The exceedance distribution of the ride comfort was quantitatively analyzed by the vehicle speed, the ride comfort of the Korean high speed line was compared with that of European high speed lines. It is shown that the ride comfort of Korean high speed line is better than that of European high speed lines, which indicates that the Korean track geometry and track irregularities are properly maintained.

  • 저궤도 위성이 발사체에서 분리된 후 탑재 소프트웨어에 의한 초기 동작이 수행되고 나면 초기 운용이 시작된다. 초기 운용 기간에 수행할 모든 절차와 대처 가능한 긴급 상황이 발생할 경우 수행할 절차는 발사 전에 미리 준비된다. 위성의 각 부분의 설계 마진은 최악 조건을 기준으로 반영되어 있기 때문에 발사 이후의 버스 시스템 관점에서의 위성 특성은 요구 사항을 만족하는 범위가 될 것으로 예상이 가능하다. 실제로 발사 후 위성 텔레메트리 분석을 통해 대부분의 항목에서 요구 조건을 만족하는 것으로 확인되었다. 또한 텔레메트리 분석을 통해 설계 단계에서 예상했던 것 보다 정확한 궤도 특성이 반영된 위성 특성을 파악하였다. 이러한 특성은 설계 시 고려했던 상황과 다르더라도 실제 궤도 특성이 반영된 특성이므로 초기 운용 및 정상 운용 시에 정상적인 상황인 것으로 고려해야 한다. 첫째, 지구 알베도 특성에 따라 태양센서 값이 궤도에 따라 변화한다. 위성의 자세가 정확히 태양을 지향하고 있더라도 태양센서에 지구에서 반사된 빛이 입사되어 자세 제어에 영향을 주게 된다. 알베도의 영향은 적도에서 극지방으로 갈수록 커지며, 계절에 따라 다른 특성을 보인다. 알베도의 영향을 최소화하기 위해 자세 제어 모델에 알베도 효과를 고려하거나 알베도 효과를 무시할 수 있을 정도로 자세 제어 오차 한계를 조정할 수 있다. 둘째, 위성의 지구 회피 회전에 의해 태양 전지판의 온도가 궤도에 따라 변화한다. 위성체는 위성체에 장착된 두 개의 별센서의 가시성 확보를 위해 태양 지향 자세에서 요축으로 일정 속도로 회전한다. 남극 부근에서는 두 태양 센서가 모두 지구의 반대편인 남쪽을 지향하도록 하며, 북극 부근에서는 북쪽을 지향하도록 한다. 이 때 두 태양 센서의 방향에 장착된 태양 전지판은 극지방에서 지구 반대편에 위치하므로 다른 태양 전지판에 비해 낮은 온도를 갖게 된다. 이 논문에서는 위성의 궤도 특성에 따른 고려 사항에 대해 설명하였다.

A Study of Dynamic Behavior of Track and Train Interaction on Rail Open Gap (레일 개구부에서의 궤도-차량 상호작용에 대한 연구)

  • During winter, the CWR (continuous welded rail) may be broken when a temperature drop below the neutral level changes the axial force, causing tensile fracture and creating a rail gap. The passage of a train on a rail with an open gap may lead to very costly derailments. In this paper, the use of a track-and-train-coupled model whose rail has an open gap is proposed for dynamic interaction analysis. Linear track and train systems were coupled in this study by a nonlinear Herzian contact spring, and the complete system matrices of the total track-train system were constructed. Moreover, the interaction phenomenon considering the presence of an open gap in the rail was toughly defined by assigning the irregularity functions between the two sides of the gap. Time history analysis, which has an iteration scheme such as the Newmark-$\beta$ method (based on the Modified Newton-Raphson methods), was conducted to solve the nonlinear equation. .Finally, numerical studies were conducted to assess the effect of the various parameters of the system when applied to various speeds, open-gap sizes, and support stiffnesses of the rail.

  • An application of concrete track is being activity processed for the construction of Korean railroad. The concrete track has an advantage to decrease the maintenance fee, but is very difficult to control the settlement of ground and embankment consisting of substructure of concrete track below the allowable settlement level. This is the reason why the measurement and evaluation of both ground and embankment settlement before the installation of the concrete track is very important. One ground, a lower subgrade, and five surface settlements are measured to understand the settlement behavior of ground and embankment settlement. The period to measure settlements was more than 1 year after the completion of embankment. In this test site, ground settlement was over during the construction of embankment, but the embankment settlement are being continuously proceeded after the completion of embankment. The settlement velocity gradually is slowing down as time goes by. This paper also analysed the reasons of abrupt settlement increase and concluded that the rainfall was one of the important reason to increase settlement rate.

  • GPS satellite orbits could be estimated precisely using GPS dynamics as well as GPS observations. Most of the perturbations are available to be generated using satellite position, velocity, well known model equations and coefficients. However, who wants to calculate solar radiation pressure (SRP) should choose a SRP model and estimate the coefficients of a SRP model. The accuracy of SRP model depends on the model characteristics. Therefore this paper has estimated coefficients of SRP models using CODE precise orbit product and compared the accuracy of orbit propagator depending on SRP model. The results show that the extended CODE orbit model (ECOM) and the reduced ECOM achieved cm level fitting orbit for the CODE 1-day orbit. Also orbit propagation model without SRP model consideration could get tens of meter orbits compared to CODE orbits.

  • 궤도회로를 사용하지 않고 무선통신을 이용하여 지상-차상간 정보를 송수신하고 열차속도를 제어하는 CBTC 시스템에서, 지상장치와 차상장치간의 열차속도 검지 및 열차제어에 필요한 정보교환을 최적화하기 위한 방안에 대하여 검토하였다. 국가연구개발사업으로 추진중인 경량전철 신호제어시스템 개발에 적용하여, 시스템 최적화를 통한 시스템 설계에 적용하였다.

Evaluation of Applicability of Apparent Track Stiffness Measured by Light-Weight Deflectometer as a Ballasted Track Condition Index (소형동평판재하시험기로 측정한 궤도 겉보기 강성의 자갈궤도 상태평가 지표로서의 적용성 고찰)

  • Ballasted track has been widely used due to its flexibility. However, the plastic deformation of ballasted track causes the evolution of track geometrical errors, and hence it requires continuous maintenance; increase in number of trains, weight, and speed expedites maintenance frequency and cost as well. Ballast stiffness is well-known as an indicator of design and maintenance. In this regard, this paper aims to suggest the method to measure ballast track stiffness using light-weight deflectometer (LWD) and thus verify its applicability as a maintenance measure. Preliminary field tests determined simple field testing protocol to measure track stiffness. The apparent ballast stiffness by LWD shows good corelation with TQI (Track Quality Index) and maintenance length. That is, as average of apparent stiffness increase, TQI and tamping length decrease exponentially. Therefore, apparent stiffness can be used as an index for ballast condition assessment.

ANALYSIS OF COMS-1 NORTH-SOUTH STATION KEEPING METHOD (통신해양기상위성 1호의 남북방향 위치유지 기법 분석)

  • The perturbations caused by the Sun and the Moon are predominantly out-of-plane effects causing a change in the inclination and in the right ascension of ascending node of a geostationary satellite. Due to the change of the inclination, subsatellite latitude of the geostationary satellite has a daily variations of the same magnitude of the inclination. Therefore we need a facility to control the orbital inclination and right ascension of ascending node for maintaining the satellite position in specified subsatellite latitude boundary using thrusters. In this paper we studied North-South station keeping strategies of the COMS-1 such as Track-Back Chord Target (TBCT) method, Maximum Compensation Target (MCT) method and Minimum Fuel Target (MFT) method. We accomplished those North-South station keeping maneuvers for one year starting from December 2008. The required velocity increments to maintain the satellite are estimated as MCT 52.6065m/s, TBCT 52.2383m/s, MFT 51.5428m/s, respectively. We demonstrated that TBCT and MFT methods are proper to North-South station keeping for COMS-1. MFT method showed the minimum required velocity increments whereas TBCT traced narrow inclination boundary area for North-South station keeping.

Experimental Study of Low-Frictional Behavior for Sliding Slab Track (슬라이딩 궤도의 저마찰 거동에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • Railway bridges with continuously welded rail have a limitation of span length due to track-bridge interaction. In order to overcome this, a sliding slab track system has been developed that comprises with a low-frictional sliding layer between the bridge deck and the track slab to isolate the longitudinal behavior between the bridge and the track. In this study, a real scale track system is prepared to experimentally evaluate the longitudinal frictional behavior. Applied loading rates were 0.2, 1.0, 5.0 and 10mm/min; vertical mass on the track are track slab only, 5,000 and 10,000kg added mass, respectively. Test results showed that the resulting frictional coefficients varied from 0.22 to 0.33. In addition, 10,000 cycle loadings were applied to simulate repetitive sliding to represent 30 years of service life. The frictional coefficient increase was measured and found to be 7% of that of the initial loading stage, which means that the sliding layer is adequate to provide low-frictional behavior for the sliding slab track system. Effects of changes of the frictional coefficient of the sliding layer were analyzed by rail-structure interaction analysis.
