It was characterized the hexane biodegradation and mineralization using a hexane-degrading consortium, and analyzed its bacterial community structure by 16S rDNA PCR-DGGE (denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis). The specific growth rate (${\mu}_{max}$) of the hexane-degrading consortium was 0.2 $h^{-1}$ in mineral salt medium supplemented with hexane as a sole carbon source. The maximum degradation rate ($V_{max}$) and saturation constant ($K_{s}$) of hexane of the consortium are 460 ${\mu}mol{\cdot}g-DCW^{-1}{\cdot}h^{-1}$ and 25.87 mM, respectively. In addition, this consortium could mineralize $49.1{\%}$ of $^{14}C$-hexane to $^{14}CO_2$, and $43.6{\%}$ of $^{14}C$-hexane) was used for the growth of biomass. The clones isolated from the DGGE bands were closely related to the bacteria which were capable of degrading pollutants such as oil, biphenyl, PCE, and waste gases. The hexane-degrading consortium obtained in this study can be applied for the biological treatment of hexane.
This study was carried out in order to investigate color sensation and sensibility for yellowish natural dye fabrics and reddish ones and to establish prediction models for color sensibility factors of them by color sensation and the related physical measurements focusing on 40s middle-aged people. Eight fabric stimuli which were dyed with a variety of yellowish or reddish natural dyes was subjectively evaluated in terms of color sensation and sensibility by 40s aged participants. As results, three color sensibility factors including 'Active', 'Characteristic', and 'Relax' were extracted and they were examined in respect of their relationships with color sensation and physical color properties. Color sensibility factor 'Active', the dominant factor for the naturally dyed fabrics was explained by $L^*$ and sensation 'Deep' in its predictive model and a yellowish fabric dyed with 300% solution of armur cork unmordanted was perceived the strongest in the factor. Factor 'Characteristic' was predicted by both $a^*$ and sensation 'Light' and reddish natural dye fabrics tended to be felt more strongly for it. Color sensation 'Strong' was the only predictor for factor 'Relax' in that naturally dyed fabrics with lower values for the sensation seemed to show higher 'Relax' factor and a reddish fabric dyed with safflower 125% was the highest for the color sensibility factor. These results could be utilized to design color-sensible natural dye fabrics for middle-aged people.
The performance and removal efficiencies of a pilot scale biofilter were estimated by using ammonia and hydrogen sulfide as the odorous gases. Expanded polyurethane foam coated with powdered activated carbon and zeolite was used as a biofilm supporting medium in the biofilter. Odorous gases from the sludge thickener of a municipal wastewater treatment plant were treated in the biofilter for 10 months and the inlet ammonia and hydrogen sulfide concentrations were 0.1-1.5 and 2-20 ppmv, respectively. The removal efficiencies reached about 100% at the empty bed retention time (EBRT) of 3.6-5 seconds except for the adaptation periods. The pressure drop of the biofilter caused by the gas flow was also low that the maximum attained was 31 mm $H_2O$ during the operation. Its stability was confirmed in the long term due to the fact that the biofilter and the polyurethane medium had a minimum plugging and compression. The microbial community on the medium is critical for the performance of the biofilter especially the distribution of ammonia oxidizing bacteria (AOB) and sulfur oxidizing bacteria (SOB). The distribution of Nitrosomonas sp. (AOB) and Thiobacillus ferroxidans (SOB) was confirmed by FISH (fluorescence in situ hybridization) analysis. The longer the operation time, the more microbial population observed. Also, the medium close to the gas inlet had more microbial population than the medium at the gas outlet of the biofilter.
Collated data from the 1995-1996 floristic surveys of weeds of arable peat in Selangor district were analysed to assess composition and dominance and spatial distribution pattern based on quantitative and dispersion indices. Forty eight weed species belonging to 19 families of which 31 were broad leaves, 10 grasses and 7 sedges were sampled and these ware translated as 77.8 and 15% of the total cover, respectively, The respective important values were 71.11 and 18%. Ten species in the onder of dominance were Fimbristylis acuminata, Murdannia nudiflora, Hedyotis corymbosa, Ageratum conyzoides, Asystasia gangetica, Cleome rutidosperma, Cyperus sphacelatus, Lindernia crustacea, Ludwigia hyssopifolia of spatial distribution based on variance-to-mean ratios, Llouds mean crowding or Lloyds patchiness indices. Other species were either random or regular in their spatial distribution. Differences in species-dominance and spatial distribution pattern may be attributed to inherent variations in patchiness and fecundity schedules of each weed species, crops, cropping patterns and agronomic practices prevailing in the area.
A personalized recommendation system is a recommendation system that recommends goods to users' taste by using an automated information filtering technology. A collaborative filtering method in this technology is a method that discriminates certain types, which represent similar patterns. Thus, it is possible to estimate the pain strength based on the data of the patients who have the past similar types and extract related conditions according to the similarity in classified patients. A representative method using the Pearson correlation coefficient for extracting the similarity weight may represent inexact results as the sample data is small according to the amount of data. Also, it has a disadvantage that it is not possible to fast draw results due to the increase in calculations as a square scale as the sample data is large. In this paper, the excellency of the intelligence pain nursing intervention u-health system implemented by comparing the scale and similarity group of the sample data for extracting significant data is verified through the evaluation of MAE and Raking scoring. Based on the results of this verification, it is possible to present basic data and guidelines of the pain of patients recognized by nurses and that leads to improve the welfare of patients.

Thresholding is a fundamental approach to segmentation that utilizes a significant degree of pixel popularity or intensity. Otsu's thresholding employed the normalized histogram as a discrete probability density function. Also it utilized a criterion that minimizes the between-class variance of pixel intensity to choose a threshold value for segmentation. However, the Otsu's method has a disadvantage of repeatedly searching optimal thresholds for the entire range. In this paper, a simple but fast multi-level thresholding approach is proposed by means of extending the Otsu's method. Rather than invoke the Otsu's method for the entire gray range, we advocate that the gray-level range of an image be first divided into smaller sub-ranges, and that the multi-level thresholds be achieved by iteratively invoking this dividing process. Initially, in the proposed method, the gray range of the object image is divided into 2 classes with a threshold value. Here, the threshold value for segmentation is selected by invoking the Otsu's method for the entire range. Following this, the two classes are divided into 4 classes again by applying the Otsu's method to each of the divided sub-ranges. This process is repeatedly performed until the required number of thresholds is obtained. Our experimental results for three benchmark images and fifty faces show a possibility that the proposed method could be used efficiently for pattern matching and face recognition.

In the era of 21st new century. reinforcement of regional competitiveness by establishing innovation system is taking its place of main small and medium sized enterprise policies in major developed countries. The model of regional balanced development for promoting small and medium sized enterprise is a main frame of governmental small and medium sized enterprise policies. which complements national innovation process. And in the level of local area, the model is regional network system, molded in the process of induction, application, modification, proliferation of new technologies and knowledge by local businessman and innovators. This study focused on the strategy development for small and medium sized businesses to increase local competitive power, in terms of regional balanced development. In order to find the real problems and improvement alternatives for local competitive power, this study both reviewed the common strategies and action programs advanced in developed countries for small businesses, and did research on the current economic conditions in local area. Based on the lessons from foreign cases and the analysis of the current situations in small business in local area, the study suggested the model of regional balanced development for promoting small and medium sized enterprise including formation of innovation network system through the invitation of leading firms in the area, industry-university partnerships, and development and attraction for small and medium sized businesses.
This study was conducted to identify the impact of river improvement efforts by studying terrestrial insects inhabiting at streamside locations at the Daejeon and Yudeung streams. Seven surveys were conducted from April to October on 2008 and the results were analyzed. Totally 428 species of 110 families belonging to 11 orders of insects were investigated during the course of the present study. The insects identified at the Daejeon stream belonged to 335 species, 99 families and 11 orders, while those at the Yudeung stream were of 350 species, with 98 families and 11 orders. At the Daejeon stream, D-1 and D-2 points were the sites where the most species(178 species) were identified, while at the Yudeung stream, the Y-1 point was the site where the most species(179 species) emerged. In a cluster analysis based on a similarity index, Group A(without river improvement works) and Group B(downtown passing area with river improvement works) were created. Within Group A, survey points were classified as the Daejeon stream group(the A-1 Group) and the Yudeung stream group(the A-2 Group). It was found that the emergence patterns of insects were related to regional characteristics of the streams.

Oyster production is playing an important role in domestic aquaculture, but facing some problems such as exports decrease, a slowdown in domestic demand and marine environmental deterioration. In order to obtain the suitable and sustainable oyster production, suitable sites selection is an important step in oyster aquaculture. This study was conducted to identify the suitable sites for lunging culture of oyster using Geographic Information System(GIS)-based multi-criteria evaluation methods. Most of the parameters were extracted by Inverse Distance Weighted(IDW) methods in GIS and eight parameters were grouped into two basic sub-models for oyster aquaculture, namely oyster growth sub-model(Sea Temperature, Salinity, Hydrodynamics, Chlorophyll-a) and environment sub-model(Bottom DO, TOC, Sediment AVS, Benthic Diversity). Suitability scores were ranked on a scale from 1(leased suitable) and 8(most suitable), and about 80.1% of the total potential area had the highest scores 5 and 6. These areas were shown to have the optimum condition for oyster culture in GeojeHansan Bay. This method to identify suitable sites for oyster culture may be used to develop bivalve culture management system for supporting a decision making.
The influence of disinfectant on bacterial concentration and carbon usage patterns by Biolog GN plates were investigated for biofilm on carbon steel pipe. Heterotrophic bacterial concentrations were not different among non-, monochloramine- (1.0, 1.5 mg/l) and free chlorine- (0.5, 1.0 mg/l) treated samples (P = 0.56, ANOVA). However treatment of 1.5 mg/l free chlorine and 2.0 mg/l monochloraime showed significantly lower densities than control (P < 0.01, ANOVA). By the stepwise increasement of disinfectant concentration, the carbon usage activities of biofilm microflora were decreased after increase without the decrease of bacterial concentration, following reduction of cell density. Carbon usage patterns were qualitatively and quantitatively different with similar bacterial concentrations. Principal component analysis suggested that type and concentration of disinfectant were main factors on the usage of carbons. Our result suggest that the differences of bacterial communities were different among the samples and the need of monochloramine for the reduction of biofilm in drinking water.
