  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among peer relation disposition, relationship maintenance effort and school adjustment of gifted students and non-gifted students. And then the final purpose of the study is to give suggestions to help improving gifted students' peer relationship and their school adjustment. For the study, 175 gifted students and 179 non-gifted students in grades 4 and 6 of 5 elementary schools in urban areas were assessed on their peer relation disposition, relationship maintenance effort and school adjustment. The results are summarized as follows. First, gifted students were significantly higher than that of the non-gifted students as a whole. Second, in the correlation among peer relation disposition, relationship maintenance effort and school adjustment, peer relation disposition and relationship maintenance effort showed a significantly positive correlation with all the subvariables of school adjustment. Third, Sympathy-Acceptance disposition was the most influential factor for gifted students, and Independence-Responsibility disposition was the most influential factor for non-gifted students. Finally, the cluster analysis results based on the peer relation type of the gifted and the non-gifted suggested four meaningful clusters. And the four clusters showed significantly differences with all the subvariables of school adjustment. Implications of the study were discussed in depth related to the gifted education practices.

  • In this study, we classify the 1000 hPa geopotential height fields around the Korean peninsula through the Kmeans cluster analysis and investigate the occurrence characteristics of each cluster pattern. The 11 clusters are identified as the typical pressure patterns, applying the pattern correlation as a similarity among clusters and the criterion of cluster similarity 0.8, of which three pressure patterns are associated with the extension of Siberia air mass, other three with the latitudes of the longest symmetry axis of North Pacific highs, two with the trough largely under the air mass of Siberia or North Pacific, and the remaining three, the migratory high patterns generally occurring in spring and autumn, are disjointed according to the direction of the longest symmetry axis of highs. The occurrence rate of air masses affecting the Korean peninsula, estimated from the number of occurrence days of 11 pressure patterns, is 55.4% Siberian, 29.3% North Pacific, 12.8% Yangtze-River, 2.5% Okhotsk sea and 68.2% of all these is the continental air masses. The wintertime pressure patterns around the Korean peninsula are nearly contrary to those in summertime, each dominated by the highs extended from the stationary air masses over the Central Siberia and the North Pacific ocean. The migratory highs occur largely in spring and autumn while transferring from the wintertime patterns to summertime patterns, or vice versa. Recently, the occurrence frequency of the highs extended from the North Pacific is on the decrease and while the wintertime pressure patterns occur frequently in spring and autumn, the occurrence frequency of the pressure patterns with trough is on the increase and the migratory highs occur in nearly all seasons.

  • This study aims to classify the biotope types based on the vegetation community in built-up areas by different land use and to map the plant communities. By classifying biotopes according to a taxonomic system, the characteristics of a biological community can be well-represented. The biotope classification indexes for the target area include human behavioral factors such as land use intensity, land-use patterns and land-cover types. The type classification was divided into four hierarchic ranks starting with Biotope Class, next by Biotope Group and Biotope Type and lastly by Biotope Sub-Type. The Biotope Class was first divided into two areas: the areas improved by humans and the areas unimproved by humans. The improved areas were again divided into permeable and non-permeable regions on the Biotope Group level. In the Biotope Type level, permeable paving areas were divided into areas with wide gap pavers and those with narrow gap pavers. The differential species of each biotope type are Lindera glauca, Conyza canadensis, Mazus pumilus, Vicia tetrasperma, Crepidiastrum sonchifolium, Zoysis japonica, Potentilla supina and Festuca arundinacea. The results of this study suggest that the biotope classification methodology, using a subjective phytosociological approach, is a useful and valuable tool and the results also suggest the possibility of applying more objective and scientific methods in mapping and classifying various environments.

  • The study analyzes reviews of hardware products, customer service products, and products that take the form of a convergence of hardware and cloud services in ICT using text mining. We derive keywords of each review and find the differentiation of words that are used to derive topics. A cluster analysis is performed to categorize reviews into their respective clusters. Through this study, we observed which keywords are most often used for each product type and found topics that express the characteristics of products and services using topic modeling. We derived keywords such as "professional" and "technician" which are topics that suggest the excellence of the service provider in the review of service products. Further, we identified adjectives with positive connotations such as "favorite", "fine", "fun", "nice", "smart", "unlimited", and "useful" from Amazon Eco review, an integrated product and service. Using the cluster analysis, the entire review was clustered into three groups, and three product type reviews exclusively resulted in belonging to each different cluster. The study analyzed the differences whereby consumer needs are expressed differently in reviews depending on the type of product and suggested that it is necessary to differentiate product planning and marketing promotion according to the product type in practice.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between high school teachers' grit and stress coping strategies and to understand differences in stress coping strategies by cluster types of grit. 226 in-service teachers participated in the survey who took the professional development program in the national educational training institute. Results are as follows. First, perseverance of effort in grit was the positively independent variable toward task-oriented and emotion-oriented strategies. The avoidance-oriented strategy was negatively influenced by consistency of interest in grit. Also, the clusters of high grit and high perseverance of effort in grit showed higher means in task-oriented and emotion-oriented strategies than the cluster of low grit. Finally, researchers discussed the importance of strengthening high school teachers' grit for them to cope with job stress effectively.

  • The ecological studies of the benthic polychaetes of the Yellow Sea were carried out for five years from August 1982. The emphasis of the research were placed on clarification of the distributional pattern and characteristic species of environmental factors on the polychaete community. Based on the polychaete samples analysed during the study period, it was possible to divide the polychaetes into five ecological groups : 18 warm water, 22 cold water, 20 cosmopolitan, 29 endemic, and 7 amphi-pacific species, Anaitides koreana, Aglaophamus sinensis, Nephtys polyoranchia, Nephtys caeca, Glycera capitata, and Scoloplos armiger seem to be characteristic species of sand bottom, while Haploscoloplos elongatus and Ophelina aulogaster of mud bottom. A total of 6 benthic communities have been recognized from the dominant benthic fauna found. In each benthic communities, dominant and characteristic polychaete species were clarified according to their ecological types. In general, as echinoderms such as Ophiura kinbergi, Amphioplus megapomus, and Luidia quinaria are distributed widely and found in high density, their influence on the distribution of most polychaetes is clearly shown.

  • This study was achieved to present ecological administration plan by analyzing vegetation structure and condition rating class(environmental damage degree) of Sangnim Woods Natural Monument in Hamyang-gun, Korea. In vegetation structure part, actual vegetation was classified by 22 patterns and Quercus serrata Carpinus tschonoskii community(31.8%), Quercus serrata community(14.6%) ranged extensively. Main plant community was 8 types, and is fractionated by 13 plant communities according to stratigraphy development degree it is Quercus serrata community, Quercus serrata Carpinus tschonoskii community, Quercus aliena community, Quercus acutissima community, Carpinus tschonoskii community, Carpinus tschonoskii Quercus serrata community, Zelkova serrata-Quercus serrata community, and Planted area with korean landscape woody plants. Age of old growth trees that diameter of breast height over 38cm was 61∼77years. In condition rating class, area of class 3 was 51,960$m^2$(32.8%), area of class 4 was 6,583$m^2$(3.5%), and area of class 5 was 4,086$m^2$(2.6%) and gross area of class 3∼6 need artificial restoration was 61,619$m^2$(38.9%). Considering actual vegetation, plant community structure, and condition rating class biotope was classified by total 14 types. While distribution area of Queens spp. old growth forest of shrub damaged(51,246$m^2$, 32.4%) and deciduous broad leaved old growth forest of simple-layer structure(19,906$m^2$, 12.6%) is large and that of deciduous broad-leaved old growth forest of multi-layer structure(2,085$m^2$, 1.3%) and Queens spp. old growth forest of multi-layer structure may have to manage with user control by administration plan for stabilization of Sangnim Woods ecosystem for long-term. Also, both vegetation of shrub damaged and simple-layer structure as negative restoration area should be restored for ecological succession and both grassland and planted area with korean woody plants as positive restoration area should be revegetated by using ecological planting model of native vegetation structure in Sangnim Woods.
