  • Recently, information on international trade goes on increasing in quantity because of the globalism and many related areas of the field. Most of libraries and informatin centers in Korea are using Dewey Decimal Classification(DDC), Library of congress Classification(LCC), and Korean Decimal Classification(KDC) to classify library materials on the subject. The application of three classification shcemes, DDC, LCC, and KDC were queried to determine the classification of materials on international trade. And analyses of the parts of international trade in three classification shemes were done in order to identify what major changes have made with the development of the field. There was subject scatter in DDC and LCC; there was an overlap among the classes of the three systems; and there was little change between present editions and the previous editions. The revision for international trade field of the KDC, the 4t edtition was suggested to help cover some deficiencies of the classification scheme. Inorder to develop a better KDC, the 5th edition, continuous revisions based upon the opinions of subject specialists and catalogers in the field are highly recommended.

  • Nowadays, the international economic environment has been improved by the World Trade Organization based on UR trade negotiation. In such state, the international commerce cooperation, which means trade liberalization through relaxation or abolition of customs and noncustoms harrier, is necessary a country's policy for overseas strategy. To the view point of international commerce order, there co-exist the globalism represntatived by GATT/WTO and the regionalism operated by European Community including 15 countries, or North American Zone with canada, Maxico. The former expands the trade liberalization through the most favoured nation treatment of WTO among whole world nations and the latter takes the differential trade policy to other countries. For extreme dependence on foreign natural resources and raw materials, Our country should strengthen it' comming prospect for the world economy. To put it more concrete, We must enforce in advance the legal basis of convention and norm which in adopted by WTO. Also we are desirable to cooperate with Asia and pacific economy area or APEC. Finally, under the direction of international commerce environment and world economy, we must take the commerce cooperation in global order considering the tendency of regionalism and bloc economy.

  • The United States is often perceived as a free-trading nation as it significantly contributed to the establishment of the GATT and WTO in the 20th century. With the inauguration of the Trump Administration in 2017, however, trading partners of the United States are faced with great concerns over the 'new' aggressive, protectionist and above all, unilateral trade threats posed by the United States under the name of 'America-First' trade policy. However, the recent unilateral trade actions by the United States are not new, but has historically and continuously been used to protect its key industries, like the automobile sector. This paper analyzes the historical cases of the unilateral trade policy of the United States in the automobile industry, targeting Korea and Japan in the 1980s, 1990s and 2010s. Then, we draw future implications for other key industries of the United States such as IT, intellectual property, services and agricultural sectors. This study evaluates whether such unilateral practices have brought successful and expected outcomes in favor of the United States.

  • In this paper, I investigate how international prices affect domestic prices and export prices in Korea by using vector error correction model(VECM) and estimate its impact on international trade. According to the empirical results, international prices, such as world raw material prices and oil prices, make stronger effects on domestic prices, in order of import, export, producer, and consumer prices. And recent years the effect of international raw material prices on domestic prices becomes larger. It implies importers, exporters and producers are more affected by international prices than consumers are. Therefore, the international trade, import and export, is affected by changes in international prices. Firms, especially importing and exporting companies, should do much efforts on risk managing about raw material prices variation, diversification of raw material suppliers, and oversea resources development. The government is needed to support on firms those efforts while doing its economic policies to cope with economic conditions and the price policy.
