The study was conducted to find out lexical complexity and syntactic complexity for Korean learners by telling stories to see pictures. The results were as follows. First, there was no meaningful difference according to nationality. Second, we checked the differences on lexical complexity and syntactic complexity according to Korean studying period, only number of difference words showed meaningful difference among lexical complexity sub variables, but there was no difference among syntactic complexity sub variables. Third, we also checked correlation among staying period of Korea, Korean studying period, and other language related variables. It showed meaningful correlation staying period in Korea and other language related variable except Korean studying period and TTR. The directions for teaching Korean learners were suggested on the point of converge view according to results.

As foreign immigrants are rapidly increasing, how they without previous knowledge and experience adjust themselves to local circumstances where they come to live becomes a major social issue. In order to analyze their adjustment process, this paper suggests a model which consists of relationships with local environment and people on the one hand, and of geographical knowledge and imagination on the other. The analysis of questionnaire survey based on the conceptual model suggests some findings. As there are considerable differences in the extent of their local adjustment and felt difficulties among immigration types, nationalities, and dwelling regions, foreign immigrants‘ policies should be devised proper for their type and characters.

In line with the transformation of the shipping industry, the number of mixed-manning ships is on the rise - bringing foreign sailors aboard with their local sailors. During on-board work, a culture is formed according to mixed-manning, which leads to changes in on-board living environment. This causes various problems such as communication problems, and lack of education and training. In order to identify and solve problems caused by mixed-manning, this study presented a plan for systematic education of foreign seafarers. The officials in charge of the affairs of foreign sailors conducted questionnaire surveys at various shipping lines. The questionnaire survey results were analyzed using the IBM SPSS Statistic 26 program. Three improvement measures were proposed to solve the problems after identification of the types of education, education methods, and problems of foreign employees. This study revealed that it is imperative to systematize related education of foreign seafarers based on the results of the survey.

Recently maritime colleges in Korea have confronted with many difficulties on account of changes of educational circumstance such as increasing the number of low-wage foreign officers on board Korea-registered vessels, weakening international competitive power, avoiding reaction in the field of 3D occupational category etc. Therefore, We are drawing up a efficient educational system cultivating the well-trained marine officers who will take a more active role in the ear of 21C marine revolution The questionnaire was composed of 5 courses-entrance into a school, classwork, campus life, on-board training, choosing occupations and conducted the questionnaire survey of students in Maritime College in Korea Maritime University. And the analysis was carried out to understand the changes of student's consciousness structure and find out the problems of current maritime education system.

This study aimed at analyzing and understanding medical tourism patients' pattern of different countries. For this purpose it followed up the international patients who visited W hospitals for spine treatment for last 3 years. In additon, it proposed key marketing strategies for attraction of more patients in the future. Satisfaction survey for 91 foreigner hospitalized patients were conducted from year 2010 to 2011. Each country of the patients showed slightly different motivations of visiting, consumer pattern and satisfaction of medical and non medical services. The current study analyzed factors, socio-demographic characteristics, purposes of visit, duration of stay in Korea, total number of visits to Korea, companions, plan of care, reasons for choice of W Hospital, expenses for medical care, total cost of staying in Korea. The results of this study showed that patients visited Korea more frequently were more satisfied with the medical care. Patients who planned to use medical care prior to visit Korea were more satisfied. Patients who thought he/she paid reasonable medical cost were more satisfied. Invitation to familiarization tour, clarification of medical cost, and provision of high quality medical care were recommended for the higher satisfaction of foreign patients. Fostering of specialized hospitals were recommended.

Highly cited patents (HCPs) were selected from the patents published from 2002 to 2006. Citation frequencies of patents were obtained from the database provided by DWPI and were analyzed with respect to the IPC (International Patent Classifications). HCPs were selected as those who occupy top 1% of citations in the sets of patents given by IPCs and publication year. After selecting the HCPs their distribution over IPCs, Industrial Classifications and patent assignees' nationalities were analyzed. According to the result the US held 5,634 patents (66.9%) out of the total 8,416 patents occupying the the first rank in the distribution of patent assignees' nationalities. Japan and Germany ranked the 2nd and 3rd place holding 885 (10.5%) and 521 (6.2%) HCPs, respectively. On the other hand, Korea were positioned at 6th holding 151 (1.8%) HCPs. Among the industrial sectors classified by the Industrial Classifications provided by the Korean Intellectual Property Office, Manufacturing Sector occupied the 1st place with 7,692 HCPs (81.7%) and Waste Treatment Sector occupied the 2nd place with 578 HCPs (5.9%).

This study deals with the effect of online word-of-mouth (OWOM) variables on the box office. From the result of statistical analysis on 276 films with audiences of more than five hundred thousand released in the Korea from 2012 to 2015, it can be seen that the variables showing the size of OWOM (such as the number of the portal movie rater, blog, and news after release) are associated more with the box office than the portal movie rating showing the direction of OWOM as well as variables showing the inherent properties of the film such as grade, nationality, release month, release season, directors, actors, and distributors.

The first Korean remote sensing satellite, Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite (KOMPSAT-1), is going to be launched in 1999. This will carry a 7m resolution Electro-Optical Camera (EOC) for earth observation. The primary mission of the KOMPSAT-1 is to acquire stereo imagery over the Korean peninsular for the generation of 1:25,000 scale cartographic maps. For this mission, research is being carried out to assess the possibilities of automated or semi-automated mapping of EOC data and to develop, if necessary, such enabling tools. This paper discusses the issue of automated digital elevation model (DEM) generation from EOC data and identifies some important aspects in developing a DEM generation system from EOC data. This paper also presents the current status of the development work for such a system. The development work will be described in three pares of sensor modelling, stereo matching and DEM interpolation. The performance of the system is shown with a SPOT stereo pair. A DEM generated from commercial software is also presented for comparison. The proposed system seems to generate promising results.
