Turbulent Fluid Flow and Heat Transfer in Concentric Annuli with Square-Ribbed Surface Roughness (사각돌출형 표면거칠기가 있는 이중동심원관 내의 난류유동과 열전달)

  • The fully developed turbulent momentum and heat transfer induced by the square-ribed roughness elements on the inner wall surface in concentric annuli is studied analytically based on a modified turbulence model. The analytical results of the fluid flow is verified by experiment. The resulting momentum and heat transfer are discussed in terms of various parameters, such as the radius ratio, the relative roughness, the roughness density, fluid Reynolds number and for heat transfer, fluid Prandtl number. The study demonstrates that certain artificial roughness elements may be used to enhance heat transfer rates with advantages from the overall efficiency point of view.

  • A design-oriented method for analysis of the structural damage due to ship collisions is developed by using the idealized structural unit method(ISUM). The method takes into account yielding, crushing, rupture, the coupling effects between local and global failure of the structure, the influence of strain-rate sensitivity and the gap/contact conditions. The method is verified by a comparison of experimetal and numerical results obtained from test models of double-skin plated structures in collision/grounding situations with the present solutions. As an illustrative example, the method has been used for analyses of a side collision of a double-hull tanker. Several factors affecting ship collision response. namely the collision speed and the scantlings/arrangements of strength members, are discussed.

  • While SVD and Gaussian elimination method were applied to the additive damped least squares(DLS), the convergence and the stability of the optimization process were examined in a triplet-type camera lens-system where the condition number is well conditioned. DLS with SVD method generated a suitable merit function but this merit function may be trapped in a local minimum by the nonlinearity of error function. Therefore, the least camera lens-system was further designed by the global optimization method is grid method, and this method is adopted to get merit function that convergent to global minimum without local minimum trapping.

  • The steady and transient thermal and flow analysis for liquid helium using for the pressurization of liquid rocket propellant tanks have been conducted numerically. The required inner diameter of helium channel that satisfy the design mass flow rate and velocity, through the steady state analyses for various thermal conditions at the wall, is determined and it is found that due to the sign of Joule-Thomson coefficient of helium, the temperature of helium increase monotonically for adiabatic wall condition. The temporal behavior of helium temperature, density, velocity are also investigated under the existence of local heat inflow on the wall.

5-SRICOS Method : Prediction of Scour Depth Around Bridge Piers in Cohesive Soils (S-SRICOS 방법 : 점성토지반의 교각세굴깊이 예측)

  • A new method called S-SRICOS is proposed to predict the local scour depth around bridge piers. The S-SRICOS method is a simplified version of the SRICOS method which was developed to predict the scour depth versus time curve around bridge piers. The SRICOS method which considers the time effect based on the soil properties and the hydraulic parameters can handle a multi-flood hydrograph and multi-layer soil systems with the SRICOS program. An attempt was made to simplify the method to the point where only hand calculations would be required. The concept of the equivalent time was developed leer this purpose. The S-SROICOS method requires only 4 parameters such as pier width, design bridge life, design velocity corresponding to the design bridge life, and initial scour rate of the soil. The S-SRICOS method was verified against 55 cases of the scour depth results using the SRICOS method.

  • The aim of this study is an investigation of the interaction of two micro hole defects affecting fatigue crack initation life and propagation behavior. The locatio of two micro hole defects was considered as an angle of alignment and the distance between the centers of two micro hole defects. The fatigue cracking behavior is experimented under bending. When micro defects are located close to each other, the fatigue crack initiation lives are varied with their relative locations. In the experiments, the area of local plastic strain strongly played a role in the fatigue crack initiation lives. Therefore we introduce a parameter which contains the plastic deformation area at stress concentrations and propose a fatigue crack initiation life prediction curve. In addition, the directions and propagation rates of fatigue cracks initiated at two micro hole defects are studied experimentally.

  • The combustion characteristics of the KSR-III engine were investigated numerically from the viewpoint of performance and combustion field. For numerical analysis of KSR-III engine with hub-and-spoke baffle, 3-D calculation was performed about $30^{\cire}$ section and the prediction of performance was in a good agreement with hot-firing test result. As a result of baffle installed, the performance of KSR-III engine was reduced in comparison with no baffle case and local high temperature region appeared on injector plate, combustion wall and baffle wall, This calculation was used practically as basic data for designing injector plate with film cooling holes and predicting the performance of KSR-III final flight test.

  • The evaluation of shear modulus is very important in various fields of civil engineering. In this paper, the site characterization method using HWAW method is applied to determine shear wave velocity profile of two test sites in order to verify the field applicability of HWAW method. Shear wave velocity profiles by HWAW method are compared with shear wave velocity profiles by SASW test and PS-Suspension Logging test. Through field applications, it is shown that HWAW method can minimize the effect of noise and lateral non-homogeneity of the site and determine detailed local shear wave velocity profile of site.

  • 본 논문에서는 고온 초전도 케이블 고장점 탐지를 위해 시간-주파수 반사파 계측법(Time-Frequency Domain Reflectometry)을 적용하여 EMTP 시뮬레이션을 수행하고, 고온 초전도 케이블에 적합한 가우시안 첩 포락선 선형 기준 신호를 제시하였다. 고온 초전도 케이블을 EMTP로 모델링하여 TFDR 기법을 통해 케이블의 종단점을 추정하고 기준 신호의 전파 속도를 계산하였다. EMTP를 활용하여 국부적 결함이 발생한 고온 초전도 케이블을 모델링하였고, 결함 발생 케이블의 고장점 탐지 시뮬레이션 결과를 확인하였다.

  • $TiN{\times}$박막은 우수한 내마모성 및 내부식성, 높은 경도 그리고 열적 안정성 등으로 인하여, 절삭공구 및 기계적 부품의 하드코팅, 2차 연료 전지용 확산방지막의 코팅재료로서 광범위하게 사용되어지고 있다. 일반적으로 $TiN{\times}$ 박막은 화학 기상 증착법(CVD)을 이용하였으나, 최근에는 대면적에 균일한 코팅이 가능하고 기판과 박막상의 부착력이 우수하며, 프로세스를 제어하기 쉬운 물리적 기상 증착법(PVD)의 스퍼터링법에 대한 관심이 고조되고 있다. 그러나 스퍼터링법으로 증착된 $TiN{\times}$ 박막의 물성은 주상구조와 국부적 표면결함을 포함하는 박막의 미세구조에 의존하기 때문에 주상구조 사이에 존재하는 Void 와 Pinhole 그리고 crack들이 원인으로 작용하여, 내부식성 및 기계적 특성이 급속도로 저하되는 단점이 있다. 이러한 단점을 보완하기 위해서, 본 연구에서는 기판온도를(RT, $200^{\circ}C$, $400^{\circ}C$)증가시켜 실험 하였다. 이는 온도증가에 따른 박막의 치밀화가 이루어지고 결함이 감소하여 내부식성 특성향상이 기대되어진다. 또한 플라즈마 밀도를 높이기 위해서, 기존 DC 마그네트론 스퍼터링법에 전자기장을 추가로 인가하였다. 이는 플라즈마 밀도증가에 따른 고반응성의 질소 래디컬의 생성율 증가에 기인하여 박막 형성시 질화반응을 촉진시킴으로써 박막의 치밀화 및 내부식성 특성향상이 기대되어진다.
