This articles examines a war of history among American conservatives over the survival strategies of the Republican Party. The traditionalists 'construct' and employ a history originating from Goldwater's libertarianism for criticizing the Bush administration and calling for the restoration of conservative principles of limited, small government. The reformists counter with a history of repeated failures of building "conservatism of the working class."

지하철과 같은 지하구조물 설계시 기존 구조물 지하를 관통하는 경우가 있다. 본 논문은 기존 역사의 바닥슬래브 밑에 새로운 지하철용 박스 구조물 상부 슬래브가 위치하게 되는 특별한 경우의 굴착 방법을 제시하고 제시된 굴착방법이 상부 구조물에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 FLAC을 이용하여 검토해 본 것이다. 기존 구조물이 위치하고 있는 지반이 경암인 경우 발파가 주의 깊게 설계되고 시행된다면 발파로 인한 상부 구조의 진동 영향은 충분히 제어할 수 있는 수준으로 예상되었다.

With the intention of revealing that biological determinism is not the truth verified as scientific facts but ideology which conceals or reproduces the white male-centered social order of western capitalism, this article considered the peculiarities of human being from a perspective of cultural anthropology and examined the social contexts of biological determinism. From these studies, it found that the human is not born, but rather become, that biological determinism, from phrenology and social evolutionism to social biology and IQ determinism, emerged for the breakthrough of crisis in which a number of disclosed social contradictions drove the established ruling order into a collapse, and that it cannot but function as dominant ideology rationalizing racial, ethnic, class and gender discriminations. Hence, bioscience must overcome biological determinism in order to be the hope of both all people and all sort of life. But it is without the transformation of unequal structures that the problem of biological determinism cannot be surmountable at all.

The purpose of this study is to compare the Korean consumers' global brand preference and purchase intension with Chinese consumers. Based on the literature review, we created structural correlation between consumer ethnocentrism, perceived quality, brand of origin image global brand preference and purchase intension. The survey polled 500 university students in Busan, Korea and Shanghai, China. SPSS ver.15.0과 AMOS ver.7.0 statistical package were used to analysis the questionnaire data. In order to examine the structural correlation between variables we operated structural equation modeling. The results of the study were as follows: in Korean case, perceived quality and brand of origin image had positive effect on global brand preference, but consumer ethnocentrism had no effect on global brand preference. And global brand preference had no effect on purchase intension, either. in Chinese case, perceived quality, brand of origin image had positive effect on global brand preference, but consumer ethnocentrism had no effect on global brand preference. while global brand preference had positive effect on purchase intension.

이 논문은 유형 유물론의 인과적 논변과 양립할 수 있는 합리적 인과성, 곧 주관적 인과성의 한 존재론을 주장한다. 의욕들과 결심들 같은 의지적 마음은 능동적이다. 반면에, 욕망들과 믿음들 같은 정서적 인지적 마음은 수동적이다. 의지는 욕망과 믿음의 단순한 법칙적 결과가 아니다. 행위자가 개입한 합리적 결과이다. 따라서 의지 상태는 인과적 유형화를 갖지 못하므로 물리적으로 환원될 길이 없어 보인다. 구조적인 기초원자들이 연합해 움직이는 어떤 원자 모임을 행위자로 본다면, 행위자 원인은 하향적 인과를 함축하지 않는다. 그리고 유형 유물론 논변은 환원주의를 함축하지 않는다. 환원주의는 개념적 정의를 추가로 요구하기 때문이다. 따라서 인과의 주관적 개념, 행위자 개념이 유형 유물론을 배제하지 않는다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze concentrically loaded reinforced concrete columns with the restrained effect having rectangular cross-section and general boundary conditions. Accordingly, this investigation is to construct a typical analytical model of the reinforced concrete columns with general boundary conditions. The mechanical components of the analytical model are to be rationally defined so as to model the actual behavior as closely as possible, and the ultimate strength of the reinforced concrete columns are investigated by end restrained effect.

This paper explains what Japanese progressive liberalism was in postwar Japan by clarifying Maruyama Masao's "Cold War Liberalism," focusing especially on his realism and nationalism searching for "democracy" and "peace" in the context of the early Cold War Japan. Maruyama's Cold War liberalism can be grasped from two perspectives: how the Cold War defined his liberalism and how Maruyama interpreted the Cold War as a liberalist in postwar Japan. The liberal interpretation of the Cold War captures the spatial manifestations of liberalism in the Cold War while Cold War liberalism was to grasp the temporal succession of modern Japan. Maruyama revealed his liberal thinking by combining it to his idea of nationalism and realism. He was concerned about the reshaping of the fascist atmosphere provoked by anti-communism emerging from 186 | 동북아역사논총 59호the Cold War confrontation structure. He sought "neutrality" and "peace" to overcome the so-called "two worlds" of the Cold War. And he stressed the importance of "fair judgment" and "autonomous association" to restrain the fascistic atmosphere in postwar Japan. For Maruyama, subjectivity aimed at the concept of "nation" rather than "citizen," and nationalism was a condition for "democracy" and "peace" in postwar Japan. Maruyama's critical liberalism worked through nationalism and realism.

The purpose of this study is to interpret Korean traditional space as text on the basis of Structuralism. The process of this study is illustrated as follows: At first, this research contains basic concepts and theories of Structuralism and discusses the possibilities of typological approaches in Korean traditional space interpretation. Secondly, As typological structure of traditional space, spacial and visual expressive characteristics in traditional residential space based on traditional thoughts of Koreans formed with inherent consciousness are considered with Hjelmslev's Structuralism and Wonhyo's Whajaeng theory. Finally, This study tries conceptual analysis based on Lacan's Metaphor and Metonymy emerged from unconscious mechanisms about interpretation and induction of the traditional spacial structure for contemporary Application. Structure is a group of elements forming a covariant ensemble. From this point of view, this study validates that texts are understood when methods that bring back to the creative processes and intentions are found by Text Hermeneutics.

This paper aims to theoretically discuss the re-conceptualization of the school geography curriculum towards global citizenship education. To achieve this goal, post-structural global citizenship is introduced as an alternative notion of global citizenship by revealing some limits of the existing postcolonial global citizenship studies for global justice. Based upon Carr's(1996) idea of curriculum typology, three major curriculum perspectives are theoretically evaluated to see if they implicitly or explicitly undermine the citizenship of global 'others' ethically and politically. Post-structuralist ideas are then suggested as an alternative approach. With reference to this standpoint, this paper concludes by providing practical implications for a more just school geography curriculum towards global citizenship.
