Recycle of the Glass Fiber Obtained from the Roving Cloth of FRP I: Study for the Physical Properties of Fiber-reinforced Mortar (폐 FRP 선박의 로빙층에서 분리한 유리섬유의 재활용 I: 섬유강화 모르타르의 물성에 관한 연구)

  • While the effort has been made in recycling the FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) used for the medium-to-small size ships, researchers try to find out the methods more favorable for the environments and more value-added. In respect to the fact that the FRP consists of two types of layers, roving and mat, differentiated by the 2-dimensional structure, our group was able to separate the layers of FRP instead of grinding it. The roving cloth was cut to the long glass fibers (about 50 mm long; calling it 'F-fiber' afterwards). F-fiber showed increasing tensile strength and chemical-resistance possibly due to the remained resin (about 25% by weight). In this experiment fiber-reinforced mortars are made of the F-fiber as a recycling method of FRP. The mortar containing 2% (v/v) F-fiber results in 34.6% increment of bending strength from the standard after 28 day curing. The resulting strength is similar to that of the mortar with imported polyvinyl fiber P-54. These results imply that F-fiber can be applied to the 'fiber reinforced mortar' and furthermore may be a substitute for the imported fibers.

  • 직접 메탄올 연료전지 (DMFCs)는 친환경적이고 낮은 작동 온도로 인한 빠른 구동, 높은 에너지 밀도 등 다양한 장점을 가지고 있어 차세대 에너지 변환소자로 많은 관심을 받고 있다. 직접 메탄올 연료전지는 메탄올을 연료로 사용하며, 메탄올이 보유하고 있는 화학적 에너지를 전기 에너지로 변환하는 장치로써 음극에서는 백금 촉매로 인한 메탄올 산화반응, 양극에서는 환원 반응이 일어나며 전기화학적 구동을 하게 된다. 하지만 일산화탄소 피독으로 인한 촉매 활성 저하, 메탄올의 cross over, 백금 촉매 사용으로 인한 고비용 등의 문제점을 가지고 있다. 따라서 많은 연구자들이 백금 사용량을 줄이고 백금 촉매를 고르게 분포하기 위해 값이 저렴하고 넓은 비표면적을 갖는 탄소계 (graphite, graphene, carbon nanotube, carbon nanofiber 등) 지지체 재료를 도입하고 있다. 이 중 탄소나노섬유 (carbon nanofibers, CNFs)는 우수한 전기전도도와 열적/화학적 안정성을 가지고 있으며, 특히 넓은 비표면적을 가지고 있어 백금 촉매의 지지체로서 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다[1]. 따라서 우리는 전기방사법을 활용하여 넓은 비표면적을 보유하는 다공성 탄소나노섬유를 성공적으로 합성하였다. 또한, 이를 백금 촉매의 지지체로 도입하여 직접 메탄올 연료전지를 위한 다공성 탄소나노섬유에 담지된 고분산성 백금 촉매를 제조하였다. 제조한 다공성 탄소나노섬유의 형상 및 구조 분석은 주사전자 현미경 (field-emission scanning electron microscopy)와 투과전자 현미경 (transmission electron microscopy)를 이용하여 분석하였고, 결정구조와 화학적 결합상태는 X-선 회절분석 (X-ray diffraction) 및 X-선 광전자 분광법 (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy)를 이용하여 규명하였다. 전기화학적 특성은 순환 전압 전류법 (cyclic voltammetry)를 이용하였다. 이러한 실험 결과들을 바탕으로 다공성 탄소나노섬유에 담지된 고분산성 백금 촉매의 자세한 특성을 본 학회에서 다루도록 하겠다.

  • Carbon fiber has many potential applications in a wide array of fields of solar cell, fuel cell, batteries, and polymer matrix composites due to an exceptional mechanical properties and chemical stability. In this study, the effects of catalysts on the property of carbon nanostructures grown on the carbon fiber were systematically investigated. The surface treatment of carbon fiber and catalysts synthesis for carbon nanostructures growth were carried out by one-pot ELP method and thermal CVD, respectively. The surface morphology and crystal structure of carbon nanostructures were examined using a field emission scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscope. Depending on the type of catalysts and the molar ratio, various types of carbon nanostructures like carbon nanotube, carbon nanofilament, carbon nanospring and etc. were synthesized on the surface of carbon fibers surface.

Eccentric Axial Load Test for Concrete-Filled Tubular Columns Encased with Precast Concrete (프리캐스트 콘크리트에 의해 피복된 콘크리트충전 강관기둥의 편심압축실험)

  • In this paper, concrete-filled steel tubular columns encased with precast reinforced concrete were studied. Four eccentrically loaded columns and a concentrically loaded column were tested to investigate the axial load-carrying capacity. The test parameters were the use of fiber reinforcement for cover concrete, eccentricity, column length, and lateral reinforcement. The maximum axial loads of the specimens agreed with the nominal strengths predicted by KBC 2009. However, in some specimens, the load carrying capacity quickly decreased after the peak strength due to spalling of the cover concrete.

  • Recently, research on the development of a composite slab system for shorting the construction period by simplifying the process by omitting the form work and the reinforcement placing is underway. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the long-term behavior of a simplified slab system that replaces the form work and tensile reinforcement using structural deck-plate and replaces the temperature reinforcement using steel fiber reinforced concrete. In the conventional composite deck-plate slab method, w.w.f is generally used for crack control by drying shrinkage. But previous research results by various researchers were pointed out it is not effective to control the shrinkage and temperature cracking. In this study, the long-term cracking and structural behavior of steel fiber reinforced deck plate slab specimen with two continuous spans constructed under typical load conditions were evaluated. Experimental results showed that the number and width of long-term cracks decreased remarkably in the simplified slab specimen, and the deflection was also decreased compared with conventional RC slab specimen. However, in the continuous end of the slab where the negative moment is applied, it is analyzed that reinforced details are necessary to control the crack width in the service load and to recover deflection at load removal.

An Experimental Study on the Performance Evaluation of Structural Synthetic Fiber-Reinforced Shotcrete (구조용 합성섬유보강 숏크리트의 성능평가에 관한 실험연구)

  • The cement-based composites have relatively low tensile strength and toughness. The fiber addition is one of the most important ways of increasing the toughness of concrete. The steel fibers have been used conventionally in the shotcrete of tunnel lining. Recently, the structural synthetic fibers were developed and used frequently in some actual tunnel shotcreting in foreign countries. Now types of synthetic fibers have been developed in this study. The purpose of this study is to explore the strength and toughness characteristic of the concrete reinforced with synthetic fibers developed in this study. The result were compared with those of steel fiber reinforced concrete. It is seen that the performance of synthetic fiber reinforced concrete is good as much as that of steel fiber reinforced concrete, while the synthetic fibers have advantages in corrsion resistance and economy.

Flexural Performance and Fire Resistance of Polyolefin Based Structural Synthetic Fiber Reinforced Concrete (폴리올레핀계 구조용 합성섬유보강 콘크리트의 휨성능 및 화재 저항성)

  • This study evaluated the flexural properties and fire resistance of polyolefm based structural synthetic fiber reinforced concrete. The effects of differing fiber length, dimension and fiber volume fraction were studied. Flexural and fire resistance test were conducted in accordance with the JCI SF-4 and RABT time heating temperature curve, respectively. The Flexural test results indicated that the polyolefln based structural fiber reinforcement showed an ability to increase the flexural toughness and good fire resistance significantly(as compared to steel fiber reinforcement).

  • 직물은 경사와 위사가 직각으로 교차하여 만들어진 것으로 여기에 사용하는 경사와 위사를 준 비하는 것을 제직 준비라 한다. 사이징(sizing)은 원사에 풀을 먹이는 제직 준비 공정의 한 가 지로서 제직시에 발생하는 마찰, 긴자으로부터 사(사)를 보호하여 제직 효율을 향상시키는 데 목적이 있다. 이러한 작업에서 호재가 균일하게 접착되고 양호한 품질로 대량생산을하여 경제 적인 합리화를 이루기 위하여 기계 사이징을 한다. 그림 1은 일반적인 합성 섬유용 사이징기의 구조이다. 호재는 용액상태로 준비되며, 원사는 호재용액을 가로질러 이동하여 연결되는 다음 공정에서 용이하게 취급되도록 건조되어 권추된다. 표면에 점성이 높은 호재가 부착된 원사를 단시간에 효과적으로 건조시키는 것이 사이징기 건조부의 역할이며, 가공되는 원사의 종류가 다양해짐에 따라 각 원사의 특성에 적합한 건조방법이 발전되어 왔다. 이 글에서는 건조시스템의 이론적인 고찰과 신합섬용 사이징기 SUPER-500에 대한 건조 시스템의 구조 및 동작 원리를 소개하고 향후 발전 방향을 제시코자 한다.

  • 고분자 복합재 구조물의 경우 일반적으로 여러 층의 단층(laminar)이 적층된 구조로 이루어져 있으며, 모재균열, 층간분리 및 섬유파단과 같은 손상이 발생되어 파단에 이르게 된다. 자가손상 복구기법은 복합소재의 열경화성 수지 내에 손상복구액을 포함하고 있는 마이크로캡슐과 촉매를 투입하여 외부의 도움 없이 손상을 치료할 수 있는 방법으로, 소재의 디자인에 있어서 새로운 페러다임을 제공할 수 있는 것으로 현재 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 ENB(5-ethylidene-2-norbornene)와 DCPD(dicyclopentadiene)에 대하여 DMA(dynamic mechanical analysis)와 DSC(differential scanning calorimetry)를 이용하여 특성을 분석하였다. 또한 그들의 ROMP(ring-opening metathesis polymerization)반응과의 관계를 조사하였으며, ENB와 DCPD 블렌드에 대한 복구액으로서의 특성도 조사하였다. 본 연구실에서 합성된 두 가지 다른 종류의 ROMP 경화제에 대한 실제 자가손상복구에으로서의 적용상 특성도 연구하였다.

A Study of Property F.R.P Structure Strength According to the Direction of Lay-up in the Small Ship (적층 방향에 따른 F.R.P 구조강도특성에 관한 연구)

  • FRP(Fiber glass reinforced plastics) is compound with materials, which are created to combine each other materials, of which nature of mechanical and chemical are different. Even though the weight and the thickness are identic, its physical figure of characteristic changes with consisting of lay-up and work situation. It is also a method of creating after manufacturing of mould. It has feature that manufacturing of FRP runs parallel design of material with design of structure simultaneously. The rule of FRP structure is distinguished from the length of a ship and it is hard to catch the feature of structure mechanics due to identical formula and figure used for it regardless of the shape of a ship or the speed. This studying, basing on a small FRP ship, will show te fundamental data needed to design of structure analysing the feature of intensity with direction, the method of Lay-up, and the characteristic of materials of FRP.
