  • The dynamic characteristics of industrial processes frequently cause an abnormal situation which is undesirable in terms of the productivity and the safety of workers. The goal of fault-tolerance is to continue performing certain activities even after the failure of some system cononents. A fault-tolerant intelligent monitoring and control system which is robust under disturbances is proposed in this paper. Specifically, the fault-tolerant monitoring scheme proposed consists of two process models and the inference module to preserve such a robustness. The results of turning experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the fault-tolerant scheme in the presence of built-up edge.

  • In this paper, the high speed milling characteristics of Al6061 was studied. A gantry type milling & tapping center was developed for this study. The cutting force and the resulting surface roughness were measured at various cutting conditions. The experimental results indicate that the surface roughness is relative to the cutting conditions.

  • Built-up edge affects the surface integrity of the machined surface and tool wear. Tool geometry and cutting conditions are very important factors to remove BUE. In this paper, we optimized the geometry of the metal slitting saw .1nd cutting conditions to remove BUE by the experiment. In general, the metal slitting saw is plain milling cutter with thickness less of a 3/16 inch. This is used for cutting workpiece where high dimensional accuracy and surface finish are necessary. The experiment was planned with Taguchi method that is based on the orthogonal array of design factors(coating, rake angle, number of tooth, cutting speed, feed rate). Response table was made by the value of the surface roughness, the optimized tool geometry and cutting conditions through response table could be determined. In addition. the relative effect of factors were identified by the variance analysis. filially. coating and cutting speed turned out important factors.

  • The behavior of the work materials in the chip-tool interface in extremely high strain rates and temperatures is more that of viscous liquids than that of normal solid metals. In these circumstances the principles of fluid mechanics can be invoked to describe the metal flow in the neighborhood of the cutting edge. In the present paper an Eulerian finite element model is presented that simulates metal flow in the vicinity of the cutting edge when machining a low carbon steel with carbide cutting tool. The work material is assumed to obey visco-plastic (Bingham solid) constitutive law and Von Mises criterion. Heat generation is included in the model, assuming adiabatic conditions within each element. the mechanical and thermal properties of the work material are accepted to vary with the temperature. The model is based on the virtual work-stream function formulation, emphasis is given on analyzing the formation of the stagnant metal zone ahead of the cutting edge. The model predicts flow field characteristics such as material velocity effective stress and strain-rate distributions as well as built-up layer configuration

SCM440 경화 처리강의 선삭저항에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Turning of SCM440 Hardened Steel)

  • In this paper hardened SCM440 material and annealed SCM440 material are for cutting experiments by the cutting con-dition which is chosen respectively by tool three components of cutting force are recorded using multicorder, Then the surface roughness for various force are measured by Roughness Tester. The results of the experiment are summarized as follow. The hardened material cut by ceramic tool(BX20) gives the highest radial component values among the cutting resistance radial components is increased higher for the higher cutting speed even though vertical component and axial component tend to decrease. But when the annealed material was cut increase in cutting speed results in the increase of three component forces. Since ceramic insert tip used the experiment hardly affect Built-up Edge and heat the cutting resistance decrease slightly regardless of the increased of cutting speed. The hardened material has higher three compo-nent force value than the annealed material because the material of high hardness is increased cutting resistance. The low-est cutting forces for hardened material and annealed material are shown in the cutting speed of 60m/min and 180m/min. respectively.

음향방출을 이용한 가공중의 엔드밀 파손 검출에 관한 연구 (A Study on the In-process Detection of Fracture of Endmill by Acoustic Emission Measurement)

  • Automatic monitoring of the cutting conditions is one of the most improtant technologies in machining. In this study, the feasibility in applying acoustic emission(AE) signals for the in-process detection of endmill wear and fracture has been investigated by performing experimental test on the NC vertical milling machine with SM45C for specimen. As the results of detecting and analyzing AE signals on various cutting conditions, the followings have confirmed. (1) The RMS value of acoustic emission is related sensitively to the cutting velocity, but is not affected largely by feed rate. (2) The burst type AE signals of high level have been observed when removing chips distorderly and discontinuously. (3) When the RMS value grows up rapidly due to the increase of wear the endmill are generally broken or fractured, but when the endmills fracture at the conditions of smooth chip-flow or built-up-edge(BUE) occurred frequently, the rapid change of the RMS arenot found. And it is expected that this technigue will be quite useful for in-process sensing of tool wear and fracture.

  • In this paper we have compared three materials which are used for background in virtual studio. Each material reflects the illumination in different ways. In our experimental comparison, the 'chromatte' have the best quality in making good background image. Without predetermined light condition, chromatte provides wide range of adaptability.

  • 본 논문에서는 $2\~6$ Hz의 광대역에서 -3 dB 결합 특성과 $90^{\circ}$ 위상차를 제공하는 마이크로스트립 하이브리드를 설계하였다. 3-단 결합기 구조를 가지며, 양 측면 단은 대칭 가장자리 결합 선로로 구현되는 반면에, 가운데 단은 수직으로 장착된 평면 회로로 구성된다. 특히 수직 장착된 평면 회로는 밀 결합 특성을 얻기 위해 일부 접지면이 제거된 형태를 갖는다. 본 하이브리드는 마이크로스트립 구조이기 때문에 제작이 용이하고, 수직 장착 기판을 특성 적정화의 조정점으로 이용함으로써 양호한 튜닝 유연성을 갖는다. 무엇보다도 제안한 하이브리드는 구조와 제작의 단순성에 비해 만족할만한 성능을 제공한다.

  • 주동체, 쌍동 부스터 및 핀으로 구성된 로켓의 기본적 공력 특성을 파악하기 위한 고속 풍동시험을 국방과학연구소의 삼중음속풍동에서 마하수 0.4~4.0에 대해 수행하였다. 시험 형상은 3단형 과학로켓 초기 설계 형상의 6 % 축소 모형으로 주동체 단독, 주동체/핀, 주동체/부스터 및 주동체/부스터/핀 등의 형상과 주동체 길이, 부스터 간격 및 뱅크각 효과에 대해 시험하였다.

균일한 삽입손실을 갖는 광대역 빔 조향용 대칭형 초고주파 렌즈 (Symmetric Microwave Lens with Uniform Insertion Loss for Broad-band and Wide Beam Steering Coverage)

  • 본 논문에서는 광대역에서 광각을 조양할 수 있는 대칭형 구조의 선형 우상배열 송신기용 초고주파 렌즈를 설계하였다. 선형 위상 배열 송신기의 정확한 빔 조향 특성을 얻기 위해 렌즈의 균일한 진폭 전달 특성을 얻는데 중점을 두었다. 빔 포트 8개, 배열 포트 8개로 구성된 초고주파렌즈의 입.출력 포트간 삽입손실의 편차는 $\pm$3.1㏈로써 6~18㎓ 대역에 대해 매우 균일한 특성을 얻었다. 8개로 선형 배열된 안테나를 이용해 방위각 $\pm$60$^{\circ}$의 조향 특성을 얻을 수 있음을 확인하였으며, 측정한 렌즈 특성과 다중빔 조향 패턴을 제시하였다.
