Orofacial movement disorders (OMD) are uncontrolled movement of the muscles involving the face, tongue, lip and mandible. Due to variable oral and lingual muscles affected, the patients with OMD are interfered with the appropriate performance such as chewing, swallowing and talking. In this study, there are 4 OMD cases with oral dryness that saliva flow rate is decreased or not. The symptoms are improved after oral administration of pilocarpine to 4 patients with OMD. Therefore, we suggest that objective or subjective oral dryness could be etiologic factor in OMD and pilocarpine could be regarded as medication for OMD.

One of the most important aspect of esthetic dentistry is shade selection. Alterations to perception of color can occur as a result of numerous factors, including light source, tooth surface texture, observer's ability, surrounding colors, the angle of observation, light and dark adaptation and others. During the clinical procedures, tooth might be in dry or semi-dry condition. The purpose of this study was to compare the shade changes in wet and dry conditions of natural tooth. Groups of measurement are an initial wet condition as control, dry in 10seconds, 1 minute, 5minutes and 30seconds air dry. Using Shadeeye, color difference(${\Delta}E$) between measurements were analyzed and there were significant differences between groups. But most of the differneces were <3.7 ${\Delta}E$ unit. Such differences are below the threshold for perceivable color mismathces in intraoral condition. Shade selection with an intraoral colorimeter could be changes in dry and wet condition but there might be no significant differences in visual color mathing.
This study was executed to provide the basic data that can be helpful for a program aiming at the enhancement of life quality or establishment of policy related to public health by analyzing the importance of health state among the middle-aged adults when it came to the decision of life quality. For 160 adults who were older than 40 years old, a survey was conducted and the results were derived by using t-test, one way ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis. Followings are the outcome of the study. According to such results, it was known that the level of general life quality and oral health related life quality were shown to be different depending on symptoms of depression and xerostomia. Therefore, it suggests that prevention and early intervention of depression and xerostomia will make a great contribution to improve the life quality among the middle-aged adults.
The purpose of this study was to examine the symptom of dry mouth of workers, their subjective oral symptoms and factors affecting their oral health-related quality of life (Oral Health Impact Profile, OHIP-14) in an effort to provide information on the development of oral health promotion programs geared toward workers. The subjects in this study were the workers in five different companies in North Jeolla Province. After a survey was conducted from August 1 to September 20, 2012, the collected data were analyzed. The findings of the study were as follows: The office workers got 2.59 in oral dryness, and the sales associates got 1.82. The oral dryness of the former was severer than that of the latter (p<0.001). The irregular workers got 2.05 in OHIP-14, and the regular workers got 1.82 (p<0.001). Symptom of dry mouth had a positive correlation to OHIP-14 (r=0.456). OHIP-14 was positively correlated with age (r=0.209) and negatively with academic credential (r=-0.136). OHIP-14 was more significantly affected when their symptom of dry mouth was severer (${\beta}=0.383$, p<0.001), when they were older (${\beta}=0.221$, p<0.001) and when they felt they had oral diseases (${\beta}=0.146$, p<0.01). In conclusion, quality programs should be developed to promote the oral health of industrial workers in consideration of the influential factors for the oral health-related quality of life of the workers, and the government should pay more attention to related policy setting to improve the oral health of industrial workers.

The subjects in this study were 200 elderly people who were selected by random sampling from senior centers in Seoul. An interview was conducted to gather data from June to September 2008, and the data collected were analyzed.: 1. The mean number of residual tooth was 13.71. 2. Concerning connections between gender and subjective oral symptoms, gender had a statistically significant relationship to temporomandibular joint dysfunction(p=0.000), dry mouth(p=0.001) and halitosis(p=0.006). The men underwent more oral symptoms than the women. 3. As for the relationship of mastication(p=0.000), oral pain(p=0.010), temporomandibular joint dysfunction(p=0.010) and dry mouth(p=0.001) to subjective oral health state, the elderly people who were not in a good oral health suffered more oral symptoms, and the gap between them and the others was statistically significant. 4. A larger number of tooth led to less mastication difficulties, less dry mouth and more gingival diseases, and the relationship between the factors was statistically significant. A better oral health state led to less mastication difficulties, less oral pain, less dry mouth and less bad breath, and the relationship between the factors was statistically significant. Through this study the oral health the elderly people perceive wss concerned with oral symptom, and the number of residual teeth also had links to subjective oral symptoms. Therefore, to maintain original teeth of the elderly people, the management system of oral health and the education program for oral health in order to prevent disease relateded with oral and enhance the perception standard of oral state are indispensably necessary to the elderly people.

The purpose of this study is to provide basic data on the negative factors of oral health in masks and the importance of oral health management according to the use of masks to prevent novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). From May 3 to 31, 2021, 232 adults aged 20 to 59 across the country were surveyed and statistically analyzed. As for the mask selection, 63.9% of men and 61.3% of women chose the KF_94 mask for both men and women, and it was found that the older they were, the more they chose the KF_94 mask. Self-recognition of dry mouth and bad breath due to wearing a mask showed that the group wearing a cotton mask felt high dry mouth, and there was a statistically significant difference. There was a significant positive correlation between mask type, dry mouth(r=.142, p<.05), and age(r=.234, p<.01). There was a significant positive correlation between mask wearing time and age(r=.158, p<.05), and it was found to be negatively correlated according to occupation, and was statistically significant(r=-.472, p< .01). Dry mouth had a statistically significant positive correlation with bad breath(r=3.04, p<.01) and age(r=.224, p<.01).
The study was conducted to identify the relationship between the degree of water intake and xerostomia, halitosis, and oral microorganisms in 50 elderly living in the community and to utilize them as basic data for the development of a water intake enhancing program. The relationship between the general characteristics of the subjects and the variables was found to be statistically significant in both S. mutans and P. intermedia. There were statistically significant differences in P. intermedia among three groups with different water intakes. Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to study the improvement of oral health after development and application of water intake enhancing program.
