Method: The participants were 162 elderly women aged 65 and older who lived in D city. Descriptive statistics, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients and stepwise multiple regression were used with SPSS/PC windows program to analyze the data. Results: The major findings of this study are as follows: 1) there were statistical differences in OHQoL for spouse presence, educational level, monthly income, self-rated health, number of teeth and chronic disease, and types of denture. 2) OHQoL was positively related to age, number of chronic disease and nutrition. Also, OHQoL was negatively related to educational level, monthly income, number of teeth, and diet habit. 3) Significant factors influencing OHQoL were self-rated health and nutritional status. Conclusion: Based on these results, it is necessary to do further study on oral health of those who have 20 or more teeth. Oral health promotion programs focusing on prevention are necessary for elderly women in the high risk group.
In this study, disabled people's life quality according to their use of dental healthcare services were examined, and the factors that influence their life quality were examined. The subjects in this study were 198 domestic disabled people in Jeollabuk-do, on whom a survey was conducted from May 1 to June 1, 2008. After the collected data were analyzed with SPSS WIN 12.0 program, the following findings were acquired: 1. 68.2% of the subjects had an experience of using dental service institutes. Over 80.0% of the physically disabled, the mentally handicapped, and the sensory-disturbance sufferers each used dental service institutes in their locations. Regarding the reason for visiting dental service institutes, 43.4% of the physically disabled visited for regular examination (the largest group for that reason), followed by the mentally handicapped with 37.9%. 43.5% of the sensory-disturbance sufferers visited for pain and fracture. 2. The subjects' life quality level relating to oral health was found to be an average 3.39 point score. There was a statistically significant difference in their life quality levels in terms of demographic features, such as age, religion, marriage/non-marriage, education, and subjective health status variables. Those experienced in using dental service institutes enjoyed higher levels of life quality (p=.011). And, with regard to disability characteristics, the degree of disability and the period of disability influenced the quality of life with a statistical significance. 3. Regarding variables influencing the life quality of subjects, in terms of general characteristic variables, subjective health status were influential variables, and in terms of characteristic variables relating to the use of dental clinics and disability, the experience of using dental service institutes influenced the quality of life. In conclusion, nationwide efforts to nurture separate dental personnels responsible for the disabled, to expand relevant facilities and to improve the health care insurance are required to promote the oral health of domestic disabled people's.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the subjective oral health awareness, oral health knowledge, oral health behavior and OHIP-14 in industrial workers. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 243 workers in Jeonbuk May 7 to June 10, 2014. Except incomplete answers, 230 data were analyzed. The questionnaire consisted of general characteristics of the subjects(sex, age, career, marital status, abd family), oral health recognition characteristics(oral health attention, subjective oral health status, and oral health concern), oral health knowledge, oral health behavior, and oral health related quality of life. The instrument was 14 questions od OHIP-14 including functional restriction(2 questions), physical pain(2 questions), psychological discomfort(2 questions), physical ability decease(2 questions), psychological function decease(2 questions), social activity decrease (2 questions), and social discomfort(2 questions). Cronbach's alpha was 0.949 in this study and it was reliable. Results: Oral health interests showed that 57.8% of the workers had concern for oral health interests and 50.4% perceived that their subjective oral health was moderate status. 55.6% of the workers answered that their oral health status was very worried. Women had more knowledge about the oral health. Those who were in fifties tended to have more knowledge of oral health than the other age groups. Those who had more concern for oral health included female workers, married workers, and workers above 21 years. The concern for oral health made the workers keep good oral health. Higher score of OHIP-14 means good oral health. Conclusions: Good oral health-related quality of life is proportional to continuous management of oral health and subjective oral health status. It is necessary to develop the tailored oral health education program for the workers.

This purpose of study is to develop basic data in improving quality of life along with the enhancement in oral health by evaluate the correlation between perceived oral health status and oral health related symptoms among the Korean soldiers. Questionnaire survey was carried out targeting 263 soldiers. The collected data was performed frequency & percentage, chi-square test and multiple regression analysis. 29.6% of Korean soldiers rated their oral health as poor, 52.9% as fair, and 17.5% as good. According to the regression analysis result of the Symptoms to Perceived Oral Health Status there was statistical significance in 'tooth pain(${\beta}=0.262$)', 'gingival bleeding(${\beta}=0.170$)'. Accordingly, the purpose is to offer an opportunity of motivation that soldiers will have interest in oral health, by carrying out continuously oral health education, and is also to increase knowledge and awareness level on oral health by allowing them to have positive attitude toward oral health.
This study was conducted to identify the oral health status and management behavior and dental use behavior according to the level of education and income of the elderly, and to present the supporting data to prepare policies and systems for the promotion of elderly oral health. The data survey was conducted on 224 elderly people living in the Daejeon area from August 19, 2019 to October 25, 2019, and the collected data were analyzed by chi-square test and logistic regression analysis. As a result, oral health status and management behavior showed significant differences according to education and income level in denture use, implant use, oral hygiene product use, oral health education experience, and oral health management method. There was a significant difference in dental use behavior according to education and income level, and age, education level, implant use, and the main reasons for dental use were found to be factors affecting dental use. Therefore, it is expected that the quality of life of the elderly's oral health can be improved by preparing an institutional plan at the national that considers education and income level based on this study.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of oral and mental health status on temporomandibular joint disorders (TMDs) and the effects of TMD symptoms on quality of life using data from the 5th 2012 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Methods: A total of 1,154 people were selected as subjects for the study. Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) sounds (672 persons), TMJ pain (227 persons), and TMJ dislocation (255 persons) were the factors studied. The complex sample chi-square test was performed to compare demographic characteristics according to the three groups of TMD symptoms. Complex sample logistic regression analysis was performed to confirm the effect of oral and mental health status on TMDs, and complex sample linear regression analysis was performed to check the effect of TMDs on the quality of life (EQ-5D). Results: After adjusting for demographic characteristics, those without TMJ sound symptoms had lower pain/discomfort (OR: 0.055, CI: -0.095 to -0.016) and anxiety/depression (OR: 0.053, CI: -0.092 to -0.014). Those without TMJ pain had lower pain/discomfort (OR: 0.119, CI: -0.192 to -0.046) and anxiety/depression (OR: 0.071, CI: -0.137 to -0.004). Pain/discomfort (OR: 0.063, CI: -0.125 to -0.001) was lower in those without TMJ dislocation symptoms. After adjusting for mental health status, pain/discomfort (OR: 0.088, CI: -0.161 to -0.014) was found to be lower in those without TMJ pain symptoms (p<0.05). Conclusions: Based on the results of this study, the treatment of TMDs, oral health, and also mental health, is needed to improve the quality of life.
Objectives : This study looked at the relationship between occupational stress and the Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP), to evaluate the effect of occupational stress-related factors. Methods : Data was obtained from a cross-sectional survey of 260 local officials in Gangwondo. The research comprised three questions relating to subjective oral symptoms, an occupational stress measurement tool and an oral health impact factor which was composed of questions. The data was analysed using t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation and path analysis in Amos. Results : Occupational stress had a positive correlation to drinking frequency, Oral symptoms had a negative correlation. And drinking frequency, smoking amount and occupational stress had a positive correlation to oral symptoms. It denoted that drinking frequency, occupational stress and oral symptoms had a negative correlation to OHIP. The path model had an excellent goodness of fit (p=0.07, namely p>0.05). Five 'goodness-of-fit indices' of the model were all above 0.9: GFI=0.987, AGFI=0.952, NFI=0.902, IFI=0.939, CFI=0.934), and its RMSEA was 0.045. Occupational stress and oral symptoms had a firsthand impact on OHIP. In addition, it affected OHIP through the parameters of oral symptoms. Occupational stress exercised a firsthand influence on drinking frequency, drinking frequency exercised a firsthand influence on smoking amount. Smoking amount had a firsthand impact on oral symptoms. Conclusions: Oral health education programs for the development of an improved oral hygiene environment through reduction in drinking and smoking also need to focus on relieving stress by improving workplace culture. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of public preventive dental healthcare services named the "Dental Preventive Health Services for Children" (DPHSC) on oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) in Korean children. Of the total 20,802 beneficiaries in 2018, 110 10-year-old elementary school students were randomly selected and were requested to complete a survey using the Korean version of Child Oral Health Impact Profile (COHIP) questionnaire before and after participating in DPHSC. Overall, 107 participants completed the pre- and post-survey. COHIP scores and clinical results such as numbers of decayed and missing teeth, malocclusion, and oral hygiene status from dental examination were statistically analyzed and the reliability and the validity of the responses were verified. There was a significant clinical increase in mean overall COHIP scores following DPHSC (p < 0.001, effect size 1.05). Children with decayed and missing teeth demonstrated poor OHRQoL. In conclusion, DPHSC can improve the OHRQoL of 10-year-old children.

The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of life according to the level of subjective perception as well as to analyze the influencing factors and improve the subjective perception to improve the quality of life. The results of the survey for adult patients in hospitals and neighborhood clinics in the region of Busan for nine months from December 2015 were as follows. Regarding the total symptoms, the women had a score of 1.41, and the younger respondents felt they suffered from no symptoms. An analysis of the quality of life by the general characteristics showed that the respondents who were better educated and had no systemic diseases had a higher score of 54.71 on the OHIP-14. The respondents who were better educated and had no systemic diseases had a higher score of 6.48 when a single item was used to determine their happiness index, and the respondents who were better educated and had no systemic diseases had a higher score of 3.82 when five items were used to rate their happiness index. The factor with the greatest influence on their scores on the OHIP-14 was the total symptoms, followed in order by the happiness index and self-rated oral health status. The variable that exerted the largest influence on the happiness index was the OHIP-14, followed by the self-rated health status, high-school or lower education, and the presence or absence of one or more chronic disease. Therefore, an improvement in the subjective awareness level is required to boost the quality of life, and a variety of health education programs should be prepared to raise the awareness level. In addition, there should be a chance to convey accurate information.
