Comparative Evaluation of the Pollutant Load Estimation Method in the Water Quality Data Missing Intervals (수질자료 결측구간의 오염부하 추정기법 비교평가)

  • Direct estimation of the pollutant load(PL) should be carried out by the data filling in the missing intervals using an appropriate method because it is impossible in which the flow discharge(water quantity) or water quality(WQ) time-series data set have the missing intervals. In this study, the several methods estimating the water quality in the missing periods are suggested and the WQ and pollutants load change patterns are compared and evaluated based on the reproducible degree of the available data change patterns. The most appropriate method is finally suggested and the contribution factor deciding the influence degree and the PL characteristics of the river estuary is also suggested. Based on the PL estimation results using the several methods, the interpolation method considering the fluctuation of the available WQ data is shown to be most efficient. The PL patterns of the Han river estuary is classified as the discharge-dominated type. The data filling process is inevitable and the WQ estimation using the efficient and effective method should be carried out in order to estimate reasonable PL.

  • Travel Time is an important characteristic of traffic conditions in a road network. Currently, there are so many road users to get a unsatisfactory traffic information that is provided by existing collection systems such as, Detector, Probe car, CCTV and Anecdotal Report. This paper presents the results achieved with Data Fusion Model, Hybrid Neuro Fuzzy System for on - line estimation of travel times using RTMS(Remote Traffic Microwave Sensor) and Probe Data in the signalized arterial road. Data Fusion is the most important process to compose the various of data which can present real value for traffic situation and is also the one of the major process part in the TIC(Traffic Information Center) for analyzing and processing data. On-line travel time estimation methods(FALEM) on the basis of detector data has been evaluated by real value under KangNam Test Area.

  • 잠실 및 신곡 수중보의 영향을 모의할 수 있도록 개선된 FLDWAV 모형을 한강 하류부의 하천구간에 적용하여 모형의 보정을 수행하였다. FLDWAV 모형에 포함된 자동추정 기법을 적용하여 부분 선형함수 가변 조도계수 모형의 매개변수를 추정하였다 팔당대교부터 전류까지의 하천구간을 3개 구간으로 구분하고, 유량 등급별 조도계수의 초기 가정치를 변화시켜 가며 각 경우에 대하여 홍수사상별로 매개변수 추정을 수행하였다. 최소유량(영) 등급 및 최대유량 등급에 대한 조도계수 추정치들은 초기 가정 값에 민감하여 초기치가 최종 추정치로 종료되는 경우가 다수 발생하였다. 대부분의 홍수사상에 대하여 추정 매개변수를 사용한 계산수위와 관측수위의 편차 합은 영에 근접하나, RMS 오차는 다양한 값들을 나타내었다. 양의 오차들과 음의 오차들이 서로 상쇄됨으로써 편차가 영에 근접하게 되는 경우가 빈번히 발생하였으며, 이는 편차 합을 최소화하는 목적함수를 만족시키는 최적해가 유일하지 않음을 의미한다.

Parameter estimation for exponential distribution under progressive type I interval censoring (지수 분포를 따르는 점진 제1종 구간 중도절단표본에서 모수 추정)

  • In this paper, we introduce a method of parameter estimation of progressive Type I interval censored sample and progressive type II censored sample. We propose a new parameter estimation method, that is converting the data which obtained by progressive type I interval censored, those data be used to estimate of the parameter in progressive type II censored sample. We used exponential distribution with unknown scale parameter, the maximum likelihood estimator of the parameter calculates from the two methods. A simulation is conducted to compare two kinds of methods, it is found that the proposed method obtains a better estimate than progressive Type I interval censoring method in terms of mean square error.

  • In speech signal processing, speech signal corrupted by noise should be enhanced to improve quality. Usually noise estimation methods need flexibility for variable environment. Noise profile is renewed on silence region to avoid effects of speech properties. So we have to preprocess finding voice region before noise estimation. However, if received signal does not have silence region, we cannot apply that method. In this paper, we proposed SNR estimation method for continuous speech signal. A Speech signal consists of Voice and Unvoiced Band in The MBE excitation model. And the energy of speech signal is mostly distributed on voiced region, so we can estimate SNR by the ratio of voiced region energy to unvoiced. We use the IMBE vocoder for the Voice or Unvoice band of segmented speech signal. Continuously we calculate the segmented SNR using that information and the energy of each band. And we estimate the SNR of continuous speech signal.

  • 안정상태 시뮬레이션의 출력 분석에서 백분율의 추정은 시스템 설계와 성능분석에 매우 유용하다. 그러나 지금까지 지속적으로 발전된 대부분의 안정상태 시뮬레이션 연구는 그 대상이 주로 시스템의 평균값에 치중되어 왔다. 본 논문에서는 시뮬레이션 출력 과정의 안정상태 백분율에 대하여 Bonferroni 동시 신뢰구간 추정 방법과 붓스트랩을 이용하는 신 뢰구간 추정 방법을 제시한다. 이 방법들은 전통적인 방법보다 적은 수의 관찰 값을 가지고 상대적으로 좁은 신뢰구간을 얻으며, 시뮬레이션 출력 분석에 있어 널리 사용되는 배치 평 균 방법을 응용하므로 적용하기도 쉽다. 새로운 두 가지 추정 방법의 타당성을 검증하기 위 하여 이들을 전통적인 배치 백분율 방법과 서로 비교, 평가한다. 대기 행렬 모델(MIMI)과 시계열 모델(AR(1))에 적용한 결과, 새로운 방법들은 전통적인 방법에 비하여 상당히 적은 수의 관찰 값만으로 신뢰성 있는 추정치를 얻을 수 있었다.

A Study on Placement of Point Detectors Based on Homogeneous Section for Travel Time Estimation in National Highway (일반국도 통행시간 추정을 위한 동질구간 기반 지점검지기 배치에 관한 연구)

  • This study was carried out to set up the logic to determine lengths of the homogeneous sections effectively in order to provide dynamic travel time on real time base for the application of the model. First, considering real time traffic pattern fluctuation, lengths of the homogeneous sections for each time period and the final homogeneous sections were determined. In order to determine lengths of the homogeneous sections according to traffic condition, the cluster analysis was used based on real time data. In order to verify the homogeneous section the case with detectors in all links and the case with detectors in homogeneous section for each time period are used. As the results of verification, each cases showed similar estimation results. The results of this study are expected to be used for National Highway traffic management and the system to Provide a traffic information in the future. According to this study, when the homogeneous section decision model are used to the ITS project for National Highway, operation cost is expected to be cut by effectively establishing point detectors.

Interval Estimation of Population Proportion in a Double Sampling Scheme (이중표본에서 모비율의 구간추정)

  • The double sampling scheme is effective in reducing the sampling cost. However, the doubly sampled data is contaminated by two types of error, namely false-positive and false-negative errors. These would make the statistical analysis more difficult, and it would require more sophisticate analysis tools. For instance, the Wald method for the interval estimation of a proportion would not work well. In fact, it is well known that the Wald confidence interval behaves very poorly in many sampling schemes. In this note, the property of the Wald interval is investigated in terms of the coverage probability and the expected width. An alternative confidence interval based on the Agresti-Coull's approach is recommended.

  • Travel speed is an important parameter for measuring road traffic. UTIS(Urban Traffic Information System) was developed as a mobile detector for measuring link travel speeds in South Korea. After investigation, we founded that UTIS includes some missing data caused by the lack of probe vehicles on road segments, system failures and etc. Imputation is the practice of filling in missing data with estimated values. In this paper, we suggests a new model for imputing missing data to provide accurate link travel speeds to the public. In the field test, new model showed the travel speed measuring accuracy of 93.6%. Therefore, it can be concluded that the proposed model significantly improves travel speed measuring accuracy.
