Prefrontal Activations and Picture Recognition of Same, Different, and Word-Studied Pictrues : a fMRI study (그림 재인에 관여하는 뇌 활성화 연구 : 동일 그림, 변형 그림, 및 단어 학습 그림의 인출 과정에 대한 fMRI연구)

  • 기억의 인출에 관여하는 전전두엽의 역할을 연구하기 위해 지각적 친숙성 정도가 다른 재인 조건을 비교하고, 이에 관여하는 뇌의 활성화 양상을 fMRI로 측정 분석하였다. 이를 위하여 동일조건; 그림으로 학습하고 동일한 내용의 다른 그림이 재인 단서로 주어지는 조건, 교차 조건; 단어로 학습하고 내용이 일치하는 그림이 재인 단서로 주어지는 조건이 비교되었다. 재인 수행(회상율, 정확도)은 동일 조건에서 가장 높앗으며 교차 조건에서 가장 저조하였다. 동일 조건 동안 양측 두정엽에서 가장 유의미한 활성화가 관찰되었으며, 상이 조건동안은 좌측 구조물들(Insular, 중 전전 두엽, hippocampal gyrus, 하두정엽 등)에서 활성화가 관찰되었다. 교차조건에서는 활성화가 좌우 시각 영역 및 두정엽의 연접부위 및 전두엽의 백질 부위(superior longitudinal fasciculus)에서 관찰되었다. 이는 그림의 인출과정에 우측 전두엽이 필수적인 것이 아니라, 인출에 수반되는 하위 정보처리 과정에 따라 다른 뇌 영역이 관여하고 있음을 시사한다. 예를 들어, 좌측 insular, 좌측 하 전전두엽에 의해 매개된 lexical processing이 상이한 그림의 재인과정에(상이조건), 시각피질과 좌측 전전두엽의 상호작용이 시각적으로 제시되었던 단어를 그림 단서로 인출하는 과정에(교차조건) 관여하고 있을 가능성을 시사하고 있다.

Crossmodal Perception of Mismatched Emotional Expressions by Embodied Agents (에이전트의 표정과 목소리 정서의 교차양상지각)

  • Today an embodied agent generates a large amount of interest because of its vital role for human-human interactions and human-computer interactions in virtual world. A number of researchers have found that we can recognize and distinguish between various emotions expressed by an embodied agent. In addition many studies found that we respond to simulated emotions in a similar way to human emotion. This study investigates interpretation of mismatched emotions expressed by an embodied agent (e.g. a happy face with a sad voice); whether audio-visual channel integration occurs or one channel dominates when participants judge the emotion. The study employed a 4 (visual: happy, sad, warm, cold) $\times$ 4 (audio: happy, sad, warm, cold) within-subjects repeated measure design. The results suggest that people perceive emotions not depending on just one channel but depending on both channels. Additionally facial expression (happy face vs. sad face) makes a difference in influence of two channels; Audio channel has more influence in interpretation of emotions when facial expression is happy. People were able to feel other emotion which was not expressed by face or voice from mismatched emotional expressions, so there is a possibility that we may express various and delicate emotions with embodied agent by using only several kinds of emotions.

Work·Family Compatibility Policy Usage and Parenting Stress : Focusing on Sex and Occupational Groups (일·가족 양립 정책 이용과 양육 스트레스 : 성별과 직업군을 중심으로)

  • Given the concern about the reduction in birth rate in Korea today, the objective of this study was to examine the association between Work·Family Compatibility policy and parenting stress, focusing on sex and occupational groups. Data from the 13th year Panel Study on Korean Children were analyzed by descriptive statistics, a one-way analysis of variance, and Duncan's post hoc test. The results of this study were as follows: First, the most commonly used aspect of the Work·Family Compatibility policy among both males and females was flextime, irrespective of occupational types. Also, flextime was the most used policy among professional workers. Second, regarding the use of related systems and parenting stress, it was found that all respondents perceived above average parenting stress. Specifically, the parenting stress scores of male users of flextime were higher than those of family care leave users. The parenting stress of military personnel were the lowest among males' occupational groups. Among females, the parenting stress scores of maternity leave users were higher than those of shorter workweek user. Diverse discussions and implications were suggested about promoting the usage of Work·Family Compatibility policy.
