Effect of Experimental Layout on Model Selection under Variance Components Models: A Simulation Study (분산성분모형에서 요인의 배치구조가 모형선택법에 미치는 영향에 대한 실험연구)

  • Variance components models incorporate various random factors in the form of linear models. There are two experimental Layouts for the classification of factors under variance components models: nested classification and crossed classification. We consider two-way variance components models and investigate the effect of experimental Layout on the performance of model selection criteria AIC and BIC. The effect of experimental Layout is studied through a simulation study with various combinations of parameters in a systematic fashion. The simulation study shows differences in performance of model selection methods between the two classification. There is a particular tendency to prefer the smaller model than the true model when the variance component of a nested factor becomes relatively larger than a nesting factor that is persistent even when the sample size is not small.

  • 도시지역내로 유입되는 홍수는 건물과 도로의 배치에 의해 크게 영향을 받으며, 매우 복잡한 흐름특성을 나타내는 것으로 알려져 있다. 도시지역 내에 다양한 형태와 크기를 가지는 건물 및 도시 기반 구조로 되어있으며, 홍수의 강도가 강하고 도시지역이 조밀한 건물군으로 구성되어 있을 경우 홍수의 대부분은 도로와 교차점을 통해 흐른다. 도시지역내 홍수피해를 저감하기 위해서는 도로 교차로에서 홍수파의 전파특성을 분석하는 것이 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 도시지역 내 도로 교차점에서 유입량에 따른 홍수흐름 특성을 Case 1(Qex : 147.23L/min, Qey : 149.52L/min)과 Case 2(Qex : 150.42L/min, Qey : 298.53L/min) 두 가지 경우에 대해 수리모형실험결과와 수치모의결과와 비교하였다. 출구지점에서 총 유출량의 절대오차가 Case 1에서는 0.84L/min, Case 2에서는 0.45L/min으로 잘 일치하였고, 수심분포 양상은 잘 일치하는 것을 볼 수 있었다. Case 3에서는 다양한 유입량의 변화에 따라 도로 교차점에서 변화하는 홍수흐름 특성과 경향을 분석하였다.

  • 최근 기상이변으로 인하여 예측이 어려운 게릴라성 집중호우 등의 증가로 재해 및 재난이 빈번하게 발생하고 있으며, 특히 도시지역에서의 홍수피해로 막대한 인명과 재산피해가 발생하고 있다. 도시지역내로 유입되는 홍수는 다양한 형태와 크기를 가지는 건물과 도로의 배치에 의해 크게 영향을 받으며, 매우 복잡한 흐름특성을 나타내는 것으로 알려져 있다. 도시지역이 조밀한 건물군으로 구성되어 있을 경우 홍수의 대부분은 도로와 교차점을 통해 흐르므로 도시지역 내에서 홍수로 인한 피해를 저감하기 위해서는 도로 교차로에서의 홍수파의 전파특성을 분석하는 것이 중요하다. 교차로는 세 개 또는 네 개의 도로가 대칭 또는 비대칭으로 연결되어 있으며, 일반적으로 교차로에서의 흐름은 유입되는 유량이 상대적으로 적고 도로의 경사가 비교적 완만한 경우 상류 특성을 나타내나 이와 반대일 경우에는 상류 및 사류가 공존하는 복잡한 수면형을 나타낸다. 본 연구에서는 도지지역 내 도로 교차점에서 유입경사 변화에 따른 도로 교차부에서의 흐름특성을 수치모의 결과와 수리실험 결과와 비교하였다. Case 1은 수로의 유입경사가 3%일 경우 도로 교차로에서 수위 및 흐름특성을 수치모의결과와 비교한 결과 조도계수가 0.0086일 경우 RMSE 값은 X축에서는 0.0023, Y축에서는 0.0042로 수로중심에서의 수심분포가 잘 일치 하였으며, 흐름특성 또한 수치모의결과와 잘 일치하는 경향을 보였다. Case 2에서는 검증결과를 바탕으로 유입경사가 3%와 5%일 경우 도로와 교차점에서의 흐름특성을 수치적 방법을 통해 분석하였으며, 유입경사가 변화함에 따른 수면흐름특성을 모의하였다.

The Guidelines for Station Layouts and Their Assessments in Railroad Transfer Centers (철도 환승센터의 시설배치기준 및 평가방안)

  • The mass transit networks in Korea, such as buses, metro and subway, are co-related and the number of transfer points, in which a lot of pedestrian movement is generated, are rising. The functions of the transfer centers, in which several travel modes cross at a point, have to include convenience and comfort for pedestrians using the transfer centers, and such functions can make transit a more attractive travel option and thus eventually contribute to increases in ridership. However, the guidelines for station layouts and their assessments in transfer stations are not suggested so far. So the pedestrian pattern data (pedestrian walking distances and times, pedestrian approaching distances and times, pedestrian walking paths in the inside of stations) was collected and analyzed. Based on the results of the analysis, the ways to measure the quality of comfort for those who using transfer facilities were suggested using the times that pedestrians consume to transfer from a travel mode to another. The walking time of pedestrians at the inside of stations was also measured by pre-selected pedestrian pathways as the guidelines for station layout assessment in transfer facilities.

The Effect of Interleaved-practice by the Discriminative-contrast hypothesis in Mathematics (수학학습에서 구분-대조 가설에 의한 교차연습의 효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out whether there is a difference in achievement between blocked practice and interleaved practice according to the difference in domain and type of learning content in mathematics subject, and through this result, it is to confirm whether the effect of interleaved practice in mathematics learning is due to the 'Discriminative-contrast Hypothesis' or the 'Distributed-practice Hypothesis'. Although interleaved practice is more effective than blocked practice, previous studies have not shown consistent results regarding the cause. Therefore, in this study, 103 first-year middle school students were randomly assigned to blocked practice, interleaved practice, remote blocked practice, and remote interleaved practice groups had learning activities over 4 times. The results reveals that the effect of interleaved practice appeared in similar types in the same domain, but the effect of interleaved practice did not appear in different types in different domain. In addition, through this result, it was confirmed that the effect of interleaved practice was due to the 'Discriminative-contrast hypothesis' rather than the 'Distributed-practice hypothesis'. Further research topics were suggested after the issues on the research method and the findings were discussed.

Design of Ultra Small Dual Cross-Dipole Antenna for Mobile Devices (모바일 기기를 위한 초소형 이중 교차 다이폴 안테나 설계)

  • In this paper, we design and fabricate an ultra small dual crossed dipole antenna operating at 2.4 GHz frequency. In order to miniaturize the size of the antenna so that it can be applied to a mobile device, a cross dipole is disposed on the upper two layers and a reflection plane, a horizontal matching circuit and a ground plane are arranged on each layer. The circuit was connected by a vertical through-hole. The size of the fabricated antenna is $21.61mm{\times}16.88mm{\times}1.27mm$, the measured reflection coefficient is -31.5 dB, and the bandwidth below -10 dB is 112 MHz. In addition, since the gain of the antenna is -4 dBi, it has the omnidirectional radiation characteristic, so it can be applied to various fields as an antenna for mobile devices.

Development of 3D Terrain Tools which Improves a Picking Speed using Cross Detection (교차검출을 이용하여 Picking 속도를 향상시킨 3D 지형 툴의 개발)

  • This paper proposes an efficient algorithm to develop a 3D terrain tools which is essential in the development of 3D computer games. In particular, this paper proposes a cross detection technique to improve picking speed. In other words, this paper proposes a more efficient cross detection technique consisting of a ray and a parallelogram than a cross detection technique consisting of a ray and a triangle. So, we can confirm the faster picking speed. This paper uses a picking example among DirectX SDK samples to test it. In addition, this paper compares the number of function calls for cross detection using the existing techniques and the proposed technique. As a result, in this paper the proposed technique has fallen off to about a 50 percent than the existing techniques. And if it is calculated by times, in this paper the proposed technique was reduced to 1 to 2 seconds than the existing techniques. Additionally, in this paper 3D terrain tools are provide more improved algorithms for features such as texture splatting, height map control, object arrangement and realistic water effect. So, 3D terrain tools is available efficient in the development of real 3d computer games.

Constant Time RMESH Algorithms for Polygon Intersection Problems (다각형 교차 문제를 위한 상수 시간 재구성메쉬 알고리즘)

  • 본 논문에서는 두 단순 다각형의 교차 영역을 구하는 문제를 재구성메쉬(RMESH) 상에서 상수 시간에 해결하는 두 개의 알고리즘을 제시한다. 먼저, 두 다각형이 모두 볼록 다각형일 때, N$\times$N RMESH에서 상수 시간에 교차 영역을 구하는 알고리즘을 제시한다, 여기서 N은 두 다각형의 정점의 개수의 합이다. 그리고, 두 일반적인 단순 다각형의 교차 영역을 구하는 문제에 대해서 (N+T)$\times$(N+T)2 RMESH에서 수행되는 상수 시간 알고리즘을 제시한다, 여기서 T는 최악의 경우 두 다각형의 경계선 상의 교차점의 개수로서 두 다각형의 정점의 개수가 각각 n과 m일 때 n.m에 해당한다. 두 다각형 중 하나가 볼록 다각형인 경우는 T = 2.max{n, m}이다. 이 알고리즘은 두 다각형의 모든 교차 영역 조각들을 구한 후 RMESH의 0번째 열에 차례로 배치해 준다. Abstract In this paper, we consider two constant time algorithms for polygon intersection problems on a reconfigurable mesh(in short, RMESH). First, we present a constant time algorithm for computing the intersection of two convex polygons on an N$\times$N RMESH, where N is the total number of vertices in both polygons. Second, we present a constant time algorithm for computing the intersection of two simple polygons on an (N+T)$\times$(N+T)2 RMESH, where T is the worstcase number of intersection points between the boundaries of them. T = n m, where n and m are the numbers of vertices of two polygons respectively. If either of them is convex, then T = 2 max{n,m}. The algorithm computes the intersection of them, and then arranges each intersection component onto the 0-th column of the mesh.

Application of Time-series Cross Validation in Hyperparameter Tuning of a Predictive Model for 2,3-BDO Distillation Process (시계열 교차검증을 적용한 2,3-BDO 분리공정 온도예측 모델의 초매개변수 최적화)

  • Recently, research on the application of artificial intelligence in the chemical process has been increasing rapidly. However, overfitting is a significant problem that prevents the model from being generalized well to predict unseen data on test data, as well as observed training data. Cross validation is one of the ways to solve the overfitting problem. In this study, the time-series cross validation method was applied to optimize the number of batch and epoch in the hyperparameters of the prediction model for the 2,3-BDO distillation process, and it compared with K-fold cross validation generally used. As a result, the RMSE of the model with time-series cross validation was lower by 9.06%, and the MAPE was higher by 0.61% than the model with K-fold cross validation. Also, the calculation time was 198.29 sec less than the K-fold cross validation method.
