The history of Mathematics Genealogy Project and its meaning in Korea (수학자 족보 프로젝트의 과거와 현재 그리고 한국)

  • In this paper, we introduce the history and the present status of the Mathematics Genealogy Project (MGP). The cases of David Hilbert and the first author were used to show how it works. As an example, we explain how to gain useful information such as the granting year of mathematics Ph. D degree holders, the title of dissertation, advisors and descendants from the MGP website. Through a survey of three different groups in MGP on 20~30 significant Korean mathematicians, we found that Korean records in the academic genealogy project are missing or poorly presented in the database of the MGP website. In conclusion, we found a way to improve the situation and provide instructions to submit our information to MGP. We expect our effort can help Korean mathematics and mathematicians to become better exposed to the world. It will help others to understand both the modern history and the future prospect of Korean mathematics.

Analysis of Trends in Domestic Learning Counseling Research Using Text Mining Methods (텍스트 마이닝 방법을 활용한 국내 학습상담 연구 동향 분석)

  • This study examined the results obtained using the text mining method for research trends related to learning counseling among adolescents and suggested subsequent research directions. The top 1 and 2 of Korean youth concerns are learning and career paths. Topic modeling analysis was conducted using text mining techniques that can minimize researcher's subjectivity and prejudice for 201 academic papers above KCI registration candidates through RISS with keywords such as Learning Counseling and Academic Counseling. Learning counseling topic results showed counseling experience [topic 1], group counseling research [topic 2], parent counseling [topic 3], and learning technology program development [topic 4]. Research related to learning counseling is developing counseling for emotional stability. Group counseling, parent counseling, and learning technology programs. Learning counseling to solve adolescents' concerns is expected to continue research on integrated support through psychological emotion, parent counseling, and collaboration with learning technology experts.

Analysis of Research Trends in Cooperation between Industry and Specialized High School (특성화 고등학교 산학협동 관련 연구 동향 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to review and synthesize the papers in cooperation between industries and specialized high schools. We also try to provide explicit directions and suggestions for future researches. A total of 196 studies, including master's and doctoral theses up to 2010, were collected through RISS(Research Information Sharing Service), KISS(Koreanstudies Information Service System), and DBPIA(special database for domestic research information). The results were as follows. The number of papers has been increasing steadily. In the area of research, the field research was the most popular area. The most common type of the research was survey research and library research was followed. Similarly, questionnaire was the most popular method. Technical high schools were the most popular object of studies in specialized high schools. GyeongGi province was the most popular region of studies and Seoul was followed. The most common type of cooperation between industries and specialized high schools were actual training. The students in specialized high school was the most popular object of surveys, and teachers and industry people were followed.

Effects of Knowledge of Evidence Based Practice and Organizational Culture on Innovation Behavior of University Librarians (대학도서관 사서의 근거기반실무 지식과 조직문화 인식이 혁신행동에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this descriptive correlational study was to explore the effect of knowledge of evidence-based practice (K-EBP) and organizational culture on the innovation behavior of university librarians in South Korea. The structured survey questionnaire consisted of four sections and 60 items. The four sections were concerned with K-EBP, organizational culture, innovation behavior, and EBP-related activities and demographic. The respondents were librarians working in 101 university libraries in South Korea. The results of this study were as follows. First, K-EBP indicated that the respondents had excellent practical skills, but their ability to appraise critically, apply knowledge and to conduct research was weak. Second, the questionnaire scores for K-EBP were significantly positively correlated with those for organizational culture and innovation behavior. Higher K-EBP scores corresponded to higher scores for relation-, innovation-, and task-oriented organizational culture. Third, K-EBP outcomes differed significantly by age group, education level, employment type, job title/seniority, reading of academic journal articles, and attendance at conferences. Organizational culture differed significantly with age. Innovation differed significantly with both age and conference attendance. Fourth, in the hierarchical multiple regression analysis, factors predicting K-EBP scores were education level and reading academic journals. Fifth, the multiple regression analysis identifying factors predicting innovation revealed statistically significant regression coefficients for overall K-EBP and for innovation- and hierarchy-oriented organizational culture. The regression coefficient for perception of a hierarchy-oriented organizational culture was negative. To promote innovation behavior of librarians, we need to foster an innovative organizational culture characterized by communication and cooperation, and improve the ability of librarians to engage in EBP. Educational programs that promote librarian engagement in research-related activities are needed.

Cost Benefit Analysis of Foreign Research Information Centers (외국학술지지원센터 운영 사업의 비용편익분석)

  • This article analyzes the costs and benefits of the seven individuals centers of Foreign Research Information Center. Results of the investment feasibility analysis based on 30 years time span show that 0.99 of BCR (Benefit-Cost Ratio), 5.49% of IRR (Internal Rate of Return), and -507 million Won of NPV (Net Present Value). Sensibility analysis suggests that BCR can be influenced by the journal usage, social rate of discount, and elimination of the duplicate journal among individual centers.

Development of an accreditation system for dietary and nutrition related education resources (영양.식생활 교육자료의 인증 시스템 개발 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to establish accreditation systems of reliable educational materials for nutrition and dietary life which could be used in schools, workplace, and health promotion. Methods: The study was conducted from April 2011 to October 2011. Literature reviews, institutional visits, and telephone interviews were conducted. Expert meetings and advisory councils were held in order to receive feedback on development of the accreditation systems. A survey was conducted for the accreditation procedures on 143 professionals, including professors, researchers, health and medical experts, teachers, nutrition teachers, dietitians, and clinical nutritionists. Results: The final procedure of the developed accreditation system was finalized as follows: 1) receiving application twice per year 2) complete desk review (written evaluation) by three reviewers within two months, 3) board review (all board members) and decision, and 4) notification of results. The accreditation system is set for printed materials, web-site, and materials for activities. The certificate and accreditation mark is issued to the final certified educational materials. Expiration date is established only for the web-site form. The accreditation length lasts for two years, and can be extended by renewal application. Conclusion: The dietary and nutrition related materials, which are certificated by this accreditation system, could impart reliable information and knowledge to both learners and educators, and help them in effective selection of educational materials. Therefore, this accreditation system might be expected to increase satisfaction for teaching and learning about nutrition and healthy dietary life.

  • 건축디자인 초기단계에서 다이어그램은 아이디어 및 디자인 해결방안을 도출하기 위한 분석 도구로써 중요한 의미를 지닌다(Wang, 1999; Do, 1997). 이러한 다이어그램은 시각적 디자인 피드백을 가능하게 함으로써 건축디자인 실무 및 교육에서 필수적인 디자인 도구라고 할 수 있다 (Schon and Wiggins, 1992; Gross, 1996; Kurmann, 1998). 최근에 IT 기술이 건축분야에 적용됨에 따라, 건축가들의 전통적으로 고려되어 왔던 인간의 행동, 자연현상, 건축재료, 건축부재, 대지조건 외에 다양한 IT 기술과 관련된 정보를 분석하고 고려할 필요성을 가지게 되었다. 그러나 이러한 다양한 IT 기술은 건축적인 요소들과 접목되어 적용되기 때문에 건축가들은 디자인 초기단계부터 IT 기술의 접목이 가능한 디자인 도구를 필요로 하게 되었다. 즉, 이는 IT 정보와 공간정보와의 관계 및 적용을 건축가가 빠르게 이해하고 분석하고 이를 디자인에 반영할 수 있도록 도와주는 시각적 다이어그램 표출이 가능한 디자인 도구가 필요하게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 다양한 IT 기술과 공간 정보의 다양한 형태의 관계를 나타내는 3 차원 버블 다이어그램을 이용한 계략 디자인 방법을 제안하고, 이를 기반으로 3 차원 버블 다이어그램을 지원하면서 건축 디자인 초기단계에 이용 가능한 디자인 도구를 개발한다. 본 연구에서 개발된 디자인 도구는 정보의 유형에 따라 다양하게 형태를 변화시킬 수 있는 노드(node)와 연결선(edge)로 구성되고, 저장된 특정 건축정보는 다이어그램으로 생성된 디자인 대안을 평가하는데 사용된다. 일종의 DSS(Decision Support System)인 본 시스템은 디자인 초기단계에서 3 차원 디자인 아이디어를 제공할 뿐만 아니라 다양한 디자인 대안을 빠르게 생성하고 이를 실시간으로 평가함으로써 디자인 효율성을 증가시킬 것이다. 본 시스템은 유비쿼터스 기술이 적용된 신도시에 생성될 통관관제센터 디자인에 실험적으로 적용되었다.

A Study on the Practical Methodology of Engineering Education through Multi-account Service Composition with Enhanced User Security (사용자 보안을 강화한 다중 계정 서비스 구성을 통해 이루어진 공학 교육 실천 방법론에 관한 연구)

  • The dual security system that manages user's account information and uses NFC and OTP has been proposed. It also enhances the security of the user authentication phase by using the features that recognize within the range of less than 1m of NFC and the high security of NFC itself. During the graduation work design process which was carried out for one year and six months in a group of two in the electronics engineering major of the four-year undergraduate system was conducted. In the interim results, we participated in the conferences and thesis contest at the Institute of related to major for three times. Finally passed the examination process for three times judged by 6 professors in the major. The results were published in a graduation thesis together with other people who passed and composed in thesis form. Through the experience gained through these stages of design and production, it has gained the confidence to gain employment opportunities and actively pursue the growth stage, and presented a methodology to practice engineering education through employment.

An Analysis of the Current State and Changes in the Interlibrary Loan Service Focused on KERIS Data From 2004 to 2014 (학술정보 상호대차 서비스 현황 및 변화 분석: 2004년-2014년 KERIS 데이터를 중심으로)

  • This study aims to illustrate the current status and changes of interlibrary loan service in Korea. Transaction data of KERIS Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Service from 2004 to 2014 were analyzed and key findings include the following: 1) In case 4 year college libraries, there is a close correlation between requests and responses in the interlibrary loan, but there is none for other type of libraries. 2) Social science and literature were the most responded subject area of interlibrary loan materials. In the aspect of language, responses for English materials occupied almost half of all responses. 3) 60 percent of libraries, the number of outgoing requests exceeded the number of their responses to incoming requests. 4) After 2012, KERIS ILL service showed a steady progress in all aspects.

  • The purpose of this study is to summarize the trends and trends of the researchin on flipped learning (FL) in Korea. To accomplish this, a total of 680 papers were selected by using the RISS academic paper search function, and the content analysis was conducted based on the basic bibliographic information provided by RISS and the coding schemes derived from the process of analysis. The data were classified according to the nature of the thesis, method of research, subject of study, academic field of study, topic of research. As a result, the first academic article related to FL appeared in 2013. After the year, FL research has been increased rapidly in various fields. In terms of purpose of study, introduction of FL, basic discussion, exploratory application, and deepening and expansion of the discussion have gradually developed. Now that the challenge of quantitative growth has been fully achieved, it is proposed to examine and consolidate the theoretical foundations of FL research.
