  • The purpose of this paper is to explore ways to prepare for the high school credit system in the home economics educational community through the case of high school credit system research school operation. To this end, the operation process of H high school in Gangwon-do, which operated a high school credit system in 2019, was monitored for 5 months, and surveys and interviews were conducted with students, parents, and teachers to determine the operation of the curriculum. Suggestions based on the case of H high school's operation of the high school credit system for home economics educational community are as follows. Home economics teachers should make active efforts to provide attractive and meaningful home economics lessons to their students by improving instruction and assessment, and implementing a variety of elective courses within the subject of home economics, including collaborative online curricula. Home economics teacher communities and related associations should build a solid network that connects local home economics subject research groups, share information related to curriculum operation, and use it as a channel for disseminating class research results. Home economics teacher training institutions should innovate the curriculum to help prospective teachers develop the ability to guide multiple classes in line with the changing teacher training policy, and develop and provide high-quality online and offline programs for field teacher re-education.

  • This study explores the characteristics of within-school and across-school science teacher professional learning communities (hereafter, PLC) qualitatively. In-depth focus group interviews were conducted with science teachers belonging to seven PLCs within the science core school and three PLCs across schools. Interview questions include identity and motivation, major activities, and outcomes of PLC, as well as shortcomings and support plans for PLC. The results include both within-school and across-school science teacher PLCs formed for professional development related to science teaching and learning. Both science PLCs participated in the study showed the characteristics of a 'practice community' that developed a cooperative relationship through reciprocal participation, focusing on shared issues among members. Regarding issues, within-school PLCs focused on microscopic problems such as curriculum reconstruction of subject-matter, while across-school PLCs focused on macro problems such as teacher professional development. Regarding activities and roles as PLC, within-school and across-school science PLCs shared such features as collaborative professional development, and interpersonal education such as mentoring for novice teachers. In terms of PLC's influence and outcomes, science teacher PLCs has a positive effect not only on the teachers themselves, but also on the students and the teacher culture in the school. In addition, science teacher PLCs need improvement of the physical conditions for community operation, and software support such as protocol provision for PLC operation and joint research or re-education with universities. In particular, joint research between universities and science teacher PLCs shows the future orientation of the PLC as an 'inquiry community'. Based on the results, the necessity of active support for science PLC, the necessity of developing a cooperative system between science teacher PLC and universities, and ways to spread the PLC of science core schools to that of general schools were proposed.

  • Online education is a new domain of learning that combines distance learning with the practice of face-to-face instruction utilizing computer-mediated communication. As technology continues to develop and the needs of teachers require better access to higher learning, online graduate degree programs can be a valid alternative. Some institutions in the United States have already offered graduate degrees in music education through the online distance learning. In this study, 8 accredited online graduate degree programs in music education were identified in terms of curriculum requirement, program requirement, and admission requirement. Online programs offer considerable benefits of convenience, while their drawbacks relates to the quality of learning, feelings of weaker interpersonal interaction. More researches need in order for online music programmers to achieve higher standards of instruction and to inform other disciplines in the fields of arts education and the performing arts.

However. the needs on teaming object needs of emancipatory system of action was higher as the family value was modern. • Oceanic current and circulation have played an important role as regulators of the earth's energy distribution. The science and earth science textbooks for secondary schools based on the 2015 revised curriculum included a misconception of the seasonal variation of the North Korea Cold Current (NKCC) among the currents around the Korean Peninsula. To analyze this, the contents related to the NKCC were collected in the textbooks of five middle and six high schools, and a questionnaire survey was conducted on 30 middle school science teachers. The survey consisted of questions about whether the textbook mentions the NKCC and whether there is an error in the concept of the temporal variation of the NKCC, and the teachers' free opinions related to the NKCC were collected. The textbooks suggest that the NKCC is strongest in winter, which is not consistent with scientific findings so far. In fact, there is scientific evidence that the NKCC is the strongest in the summer. In this study, the causes and processes of misconceptions were investigated. According to an analysis of the survey, most teachers had an knowledge that the NKCC is stronger in winter. These errors began with a misconception of the terms, which teachers had imprinted on their memory as firm knowledge. These misconceptions originated from the knowledge that teachers themselves acquired from their secondary school years and have long been transferred back to teachers and students without revising the misconceptions of textbooks. This situation is expected to have a seriously recurrent structure that produces students' serious misconceptions in the future. Therefore, this study summarizes existing results on the seasonal variability of the NKCC and suggests the necessity for re-education to improve teachers' professionalism and to eliminate the misconceptions of teachers and students.

  • The purpose of this paper was to suggest effective management of clothing department in vocational high schools. Bibliographic research on ten vocational high schools' clothing departments was done. Also a survey was done to figure out what students and teachers think of clothing department education. The results were as follows. There are ten clothing departments in vocational high schools countrywide. 1493 students are enrolled in the department and they are taught by 51 teachers. Each school has two to seven laboratories. Professional subject time assignment of clothing department varies from 82 to 112 hours. Students chose clothing department in order to enter the university and their satisfaction on the department was "fair." Students' satisfaction level of professional education courses was "fair" and they felt difficulties both in theory and practice. Students answered that Embroidery/Knitting courses should be closed and Fashion Coordination be opened. Students were "fairly" satisfied with facilities for practice and felt job training was necessary. Most of them wanted to enter university after high school graduation. Teachers answered professional education curriculum was "fair." They found it necessary to improve the textbooks and felt both theory and practice difficult. They wanted Embroidery/Knitting courses to be closed and Fashion CAD course to be installed. From the teachers' view, students' prospect was better to enter university than to get a job. Teachers suffered from too much teaching-unrelated workload and wanted the number of teachers to be increased. Considering the above results, vocational high schools should concentrate their efforts on making students continue to study by extending the way to enter the same department of university as department of vocational high schools. In addition, they should develop various practice programs through field practice and educational-industrial relationship to help students get jobs. Both teachers and students think that the clothing department curriculum is difficult now. Therefore, the level of the curriculum should be adjusted. Finally, it was necessary to increase the number of teachers and to carry out teachers' training to raise quality in education.
