Analysis on Teacher's Height and Authority in Robot-assisted Learning (원격로봇교사의 키와 초등 수업 통제력의 영향 분석)

  • Telepresence in robot assisted learning has preferred low-height, shorter than life-size robotic platforms for reasons such as operational stability, user convenience and psychological comfort in human robot interaction. If, however, the reason for using a telepresence robot is to display the authority of a social superior to a social inferior, one can hypothesize that a robotic platform which reflects real-life height advantage would be better suited for the stated purpose than conventional low-height platforms. In order to test the hypothesis, we examined whether the height of the robot had an effect on an instructor connected to a telepresence robot in robot-assisted learning with regard to controlling a large number of elementary school students. The pre-and post experiment demonstrates that the use of a life-size telepresence robot, compared to a child-size telepresence robot, failed to make a meaningful difference in the instructors' authority being accepted by the students. However, behavioral measures shows that a taller robot has more merits in controlling students.

  • The present study explored a relationship between mathematical understandings of teachers and ways in which their knowledge transferred in designing lessons for hypothetical students from Gess-Newsome (1999)'s transformative perspective of pedagogical content knowledge. To this end, we conducted clinical interviews with four secondary mathematics teachers of their solving and teaching of equation writing. After analyzing the teacher participants' attention to Key Developmental Understandings (Simon, 2007) in solving equation writing, we sought to understand the relationship between their mathematical knowledge of the problems and mathematical knowledge in teaching the problems to hypothetical students. Two of the four teachers who attended the key developmental understandings solved the problems more successfully than those who did not. The other two teachers had trouble representing and explaining the problems, which involved reasoning with improper fractions or reciprocal relationships between quantities. The key developmental understandings of all four teachers were reflected in their pedagogical actions for teaching the equation writing problems. The findings contribute to teacher education by providing empirical data on the relationship between teachers' mathematical knowledge and their knowledge for teaching particular mathematics.

  • 통합학문을 구성해야 한다는 시대적 요구가 점차 많아지고 있다. 이러한 요구는 둘 이상의 학문이 융합하여 시너지의 효과를 발생하거나 창의적인 문제해결 혹은 그 이상의 새로운 결과물을 창출하는 목적을 가지고 있다. 이는 궁극적으로 합침을 통하여 전혀 다른 새로운 것을 지향하는 통섭을 목적으로 하고 있다고 볼 수 있다. 교수 학습은 교수자와 학습자의 커뮤니케이션 과정이며 교사와 학생간의 원활한 커뮤니케이션이 이루어지지 않고는 교육의 본질적 목표를 달성하기 어렵다. 교수 학습의 연결은 커뮤니케이션이며, 이를 효율적으로 실행 가능하게 해 주는 것이 매체라 할 수 있다. 교수자와 학습자의 관계를 이어주는 커뮤니케이션, 매체와 인간이 하나로 통섭되는 매체의 인간화, 매체를 통한 커뮤니케이션의 확장을 통하여 사용자와 매체, 사용자와 사용자, 매체와 매체의 상호작용이 이루어지게 된다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 측면에서 인간 매체 간 통섭적 커뮤니케이션에 근거한 유러닝을 전망해 봄으로써 학습자 중심의 교육을 실현하는 관점을 제시하고자 한다.

  • The primary school library make high using convenience of teachers and students and support work of teachers efficiently because of transmission education and information fundamentally. Generally, the main purpose of space composition is economic Lay-out of space and furniture to connect faculty of between space and space. Therefore, to convenient for users and high effect of education, Lay-out of space and furniture, we survey and analyze Lay-out type of faculty space in primary school library. To this aspects, the purpose of this study is to understand state and analyze the occupancy character of space for students that user of primary school library then when we plan primary school library, accomplish more efficient space plan that specialization, pluralistic, individuality of primary school library and cope with environment of education and change of society actively.

Exploring Collaborative Learning Dynamics in Science Classes Using Google Docs: An Epistemic Network Analysis of Student Discourse (공유 문서를 활용한 과학 수업에서 나타난 학생 담화의 특징 -인식 네트워크 분석(ENA)의 활용-)

  • This study analyzed students' discourse and learning to investigate the impact of using Google Docs in science classes. The researcher, who is also a science teacher, conducted classes for 49 second-year middle school students. The classes included one using Google Docs and another using traditional paper worksheets covering identical content. Students' discourse collected from each class was compared and analyzed using Epistemic Network Analysis (ENA). The findings indicated that in the class using Google Docs, the proportion of discourse related to task was higher compared to the traditional class. More specifically, discourse regarding taking and uploading photos was prominent. However, such discourse did not lead to peer learning as intended by the teacher. An analysis based on achievement levels revealed that the class utilizing Google Docs had a relatively higher proportion of discourse from lower-achieving students. Additionally, differences were observed in the types of utterances and connection structures between the higher and lower-achieving students. The higher-achieving students took a leading role in providing suggestions and explanations, while the lower-achieving students played a role in transcribing them, with this tendency being more pronounced in the class using Google Docs. Lastly, students' changes in perception regarding the cause of static electricity were visualized using ENA. Based on the research findings, this study proposes strategies to enhance collaborative learning using Google Docs, including the use of open-ended problems to allow diverse opinions and outputs, and exploring the potential use of ENA to assess the learning effects of conceptual learning.

  • The purpose of the study is to analyze the phenomenon of private education and to get the countermeasures of it. To do this, we approached the phenomenon of private education from the game theory, which is famous in economics. As result, we could make the mathematical model. One is a model consisted of two-person. This is a mathematical model simplifying the competition within the school. The problem of private education can be solved by the disconnection with private education and exam of school in this model. The other is a model consisted of three-person. This is a mathematical model simplifying the interscholastic competition. The problem of private education can not only be solved by the disconnection with private education and exam of school, but can be also solved by the specificity of school education in this model. We will hope that our study can give an aid in deciding an educational policy.

  • The purpose of the study is to enhance the figure analysis ability for pre-service elementary teacher by using GSP. To do this, we limited to teaching competence divide into ability various problem-solving, extract key elements, predict the difficulty of student and investigated the initial of them, the reality of GSP construction. As results, pre-service elementary teachers made errors, proposed teaching focused on the character using in the problem solving, and found that in one particular difficulties to find the students. The reality of GSP construction activity was possible to explore through the partially constructed a number of various properties, but we found to have difficulty in the connection between concepts. and integrated view of the problem analysis. After visual identification and exploration through the GSP construction, problem-solving ability became a little more variety and changed their direction in order to focus the student's anticipated difficulties. From these results, we could extract some pedagogical implications helping pre-service teachers to reinforce teaching competence by GSP construction.

  • The purposes of this study are: (1) to develop educational program designed to improve high school students' knowledge integration and their system thinking skills about global warming and (2) to identify the change of students' system thinking level. The developed program was implemented to twenty seven high school students, and six students grouped into three highs and three lows in their performance were selected to analyze their level of system thinking. The word association, casual map and drawing were used to measure and identify any significant change. As a result, the low level system thinking group improved their system thinking skills for global warming and the earth and sub-systems after the intervention. However, participants' misconception remained the same. And the high level systems thinking group showed more organize system thinking skills about a global warming topic. It is suggested that more educational programs be developed on various topics in order for high school students to improve their systems thinking skills as well as knowledge integration of earth systems and earth environment in school curriculum.

An Improvement of Mathematics Course Using MathML in ICT Environment (MathML을 이용한 수학교과 ICT활용 교육 개선방안)

  • Although many mathematical teaching/learning materials are already developed in the web, diverse utilization of this materials such as calculation, searching, or reusing of expressions are limited since the expression is actually a figure. To cope with this, MathML which describing mathematical notation was developed. In the paper, we proposed the methods of developing teaching materials using MathML, making learning assistance tools which utilize MathML, and applying MathML to information exchange community for Mathematics courses in ICT environment. Using MathML to develop a teaching material makes easy to correct and reuse the mathematical notations conveniently. Furthermore, learning assistance tools made by placing MathML help teachers reorganize and utilize these materials in the classroom as well as enhancing the connection between mathematical notations and concepts. The web-board that can make a use the mathematical notations using MathML enables the teachers and students to exchange information actively. It also helps to fulfill different types of teaching using ICT such as "discussion on the web".
