Improvement of Seismic Performance of Existing Bridges using Isolation (지진격리장치를 이용한 기존 교량의 내진성능 향상)

  • The seismic performance evaluation and retrofit process are very important in old existing bridges. If the result is not appropriate. then a retrofit process are required. Among various retrofit methods, the seismic isolation is a very useful method. because it can be applied by replacing old bridge bearings. In this study, the effectiveness of seismic isolation is rationally verified. For this purpose, two seismic isolations used widely are selected and non-linear static and dynamic analyses are performed. The responses of existing bridges are compared with those of retrofited bridges by seismic isolation bridge for earthquake of target level. and seismic performances are evaluated.

  • The present study proposed three inspection reliability indices which compared inspection results evaluated at in-depth(routine) inspection and in-depth safety inspection; Nominal inspection reliability index, Real inspection reliability index, and DS nominal inspection reliability index. The methods to improve the inspection reliability were also proposed. Since bridge inspection process is critical to ensuring the safety of bridges and identifying repair and maintenance needs, the quality of the inspection data produced from the inspection process is very important. Consequently, the inspection reliability indices were suggested to evaluate quality of current inspection practices. Specifically, approximately 85% of inspection errors evaluated by the DS nominal inspection reliability index are within 1 rating grade(equal to or less than damage score ${\pm}0.1$). In order to improve the inspection reliability, transportation agency should implement QC(Quality Control) practices and develop professional expertises of inspectors by higher requirements for inspectors, on-off line inspection training and etc.

  • 본 논문에서는 지진 발생 시 교량 구조물의 내진 안전성 평가를 진행 하였다. 내진 안전성 평가는 KBC2009을 기준으로 대상 구조물이 위치한 지역에 맞는 설계 스펙트럼을 구축하여 해석을 진행 하였으며, 교량 모델은 상용 구조 해석 프로그램인 ABAQUS를 이용하여 간단한 선형 탄성 3D Beam 유한요소 모델링을 하였다.

Highway Bridge Inspection Period Based on Risk Assessment (위험도평가에 의한 고속도로 교량의 점검주기)

  • Risk Based Inspection (RBI) Period was proposed for highway bridges in Korea. Hazard factors affecting bridge condition deterioration were found by analyzing condition data from Highway Bridge Management System (HBMS). Certain level of correlations between those factors and condition deterioration were found. They are used to evaluate hazard score. Summarizing several hazard factors, final hazard is classified as three level;high, moderate, low. Vulnerability is assessed only by the current state of bridge. Then, risk matrix is suggested for inspection periods. Inspection periods of the bridges with grade C, D, and E are maintained the same as before. But, those of grade A and B with moderate and high hazard score are elongated to maximum 6 years while the maximum inspection period is three years at present. By adjusting inspection period according to risk assessment, it was shown that 27% of average inspection manpower can be saved.

  • 우리나라에서는 최근 인천대교를 비롯하여 북항대교, 광양대교, 울산대교 등과 같이 항행로 상에 해상교량을 건설 중이거나 계획하고 있다. 그러나 이러한 해상교량 건설시에 정형화된 기준 및 법령이 미흡하여 해상교량 건설을 위한 사전 평가에 이해 관계자들이 합의를 하지 못하는 중 많은 시간과 경비를 낭비하고 있는 실정이다. 이 연구는 해운선진국 증 해상교량을 많이 건설하였고 건설 전 평가를 해 본 경험이 있는 일본의 관련 기준과 법령을 조사 분석하여 우리나라에 적절한 해상교량 건설 관련 기준 및 법령 작성에 도움을 주고자 한다.

  • In order to rate current bridge load carrying capacity, typically two methods are used. These are Allowable Stress Rating (ASR) and Load Factor Rating (LFR). Using the rating factors, there are many attempts to make a connection between rating factors and probability concept. The main purpose of the paper is computing the probability of overload using rating factors and probability concept. In this paper, the load rating methods are briefly explained, and the probability concept is connected to rating factors by using live load from Weigh-in-Motion (WIM). Based on the live load model and rati ng factor, the computation procedure of the probability of overload is explained.

  • 이태리를 비롯한 대부분의 유럽 국가들에 건설된 많은 기존 도로 및 철도 교량들 중에는 현재의 구조설계기준이나 교통시스템, 유지관리비용 절감 등을 고려한 요구조건과 비교했을 때 구조적 안전성과 기능성을 만족시키지 못하는 경우가 종종 있다. 따라서 어떤 형식의 교량이든 특정 취약성을 평가할 수 있는 신속하고 신뢰성 있는 방법론이 필요하다. 이 논문의 앞부분은 이태리 내 도로 및 철도 구조물에 대해 그런 형태의 방법론의 적용에 대해 기술하였으며, 그 결과를 보면, 한 예로 조적조 아치 교량이 일반적으로 상당히 건전한 구조 시스템으로 나타났으며 RC 교량은 일반적으로 내구성 문제를 드러내며 지진하중에 대해서도 취약한 것으로 나타났다. 강교량은 내구성 문제 외에 피로에 특히 취약한 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 이 논문에서 고려한 전형적인 보강기법들에 대해 간략히 소개하였다. 뒷부분에서는 네 개의 기존 RC교량을 중심으로 주요 교량보강 사례연구들에 대해 좀 더 자세히 기술하였다. 이 교량들은 2차 세계대전 이후에 가장 일반적으로 채택되던 형식들 중의 한 예로 보강기법의 일반적 성질을 고찰하는데 있어 적합하다. 교량의 성능개선에 대해서는 방법론적 접근에 대해 개략적으로 나타내었으며, 여기에는 구조물의 유형적 특성, 유지관리 현황, 기능적 요구조건 및 보수 보강 시스템과 연계된 환경적인 면을 고려하고 있다.

  • Recently, the various studies has been focused on evaluating the damage and stability of long span bridge through measuring and monitoring to ensure the stability and usability. But, even if various studies are performed, it is hard to predict and evaluate the real motion of structure. The aim of this study is check the application of GPS to the motion monitoring of long span bridge by comparing data acquired form RTK-GPS and laser displacement meter.

  • For efficient maintenance management of bridges, an establishment of asset management system is necessary which helps prediction of maintenance cost and strategic allocation of budget in consideration of top priority. The main purpose of this study is to suggest asset valuation method, which is practical in conformity with domestic situations, through researches on asset valuation method of bridges. This study has researched asset valuation method of bridge, which is appropriate for domestic situations by finding out advantages and disadvantages through investigating domestic and foreign application examples of asset valuation method for bridge facilities. In this study, asset valuation method by historical cost and replacement cost were suggested and a valuation model for bridges was established. In addition, two suggested valuation methods were applied to actual bridges which is used in Korea. As the result, it was analyzed that bridge asset valuation method in consideration of historical cost is desirable for the accounting purpose. And, it was analyzed that valuation method utilizing depreciated replacement cost(DRC), which could consider various factors, is desirable for the maintenance decision supporting purpose.
