Comparison of characteristics of MgO films deposited by vacuum arc method with other methods. (진공아크 증착법과 다른 공정에 의해 증착된 MgO 박막 특성 비교)

  • MgO films is widely used in plasma display panel (PDP) technology. In this work, structural and optical properties of the MgO films deposited by e-beam evaporation, reactive magnetron sputtering, which are commercially used, and arc deposition were compared. MgO thin films were deposited on glass substrates by vacuum arc deposition equipment using a magnesium metal target at various oxygen gas flows. In order to investigate the packing density by ellipsometer, to measure reasonable erosion-rates of the MgO protective layers, we introduced an acceleration test method, namely, Ar+ ion beam induced erosion test. Also, XPS and UV test were adopted to examine the effect of the moisture on the optical transmittance of the MgO protective layers, which showed that these of MgO films by arc deposition method sustained more 90% and were insensitive to effect of the moisture. XRD and AFM have been also used to study behaviors of the structure and surface morphology.

  • Zn-Sn-O (ZTO) 다성분계 산화물 박막은 일반적인 rf 스퍼터법으로 성막할 경우 비정질상으로 성장하여 결정질 산화물 박막에 비해 우수한 표면평탄도와 식각 단면을 제공한다. 비정질임에도 불구하고 넓은 자유전하 농도 범위에서 높은 Hall 이동도를 제공할 수 있는 것으로 보고되어 있어 비정질 산화물의 투명도전성 박막에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 투명 TFT에 적용되는 또 다른 비정질계 산화물 박막인 In-Zn-O (IZO) 박막에 비해 ZTO 박막은 상대적으로 제한된 연구가 이루어졌으나, In의 함유되지 않아 경제적으로 유리하고, 특히 SnO2의 우수한 기계적 및 화학적 특성과 ZnO의 내환원성 특성을 잠재하고 있는 유망한 투명도전성 박막재료이다. 본 연구에서는 Zn-Sn-O계 박막을 통상의 rf 스퍼터법으로 성막하여 조성, 증착 온도, 그리고 열처리 온도에 따른 ZTO 박막의 구조적인 특성 변화와 이에 따른 전기적 및 광학적 특성 변화에 대하여 고찰하였다. ZnO 타겟과 SnO2 타겟을 사용하여 co-sputtering하여 ZnO의 부피 분률을 13~59 mol%까지 변화되도록 조절하여 증착하였다. 증착 온도는 상온, 150 및 $300^{\circ}C$로, 그리고 성막가스 중의 산소분률은 0%, 0.5% 및 1% 로 변화시켰다. 40 mol% 이상의 ZnO를 함유한 ZTO 박막은 가시광 영역에서의 평균 광투과도는 좋으나 전기적인 특성이 열악하였으며, ZnO 분율이 낮은 ZTO 박막은 10-2~10-3 ohm-cm 정도의 비교적 낮은 비저항을 나타내었으나 광투과도 면에서 떨어지는 단점을 보였다. 평균 광투과도는 증착 온도가 증가할수록, 그리고 산소의 양이 증가할수록 향상 되었다. 자유전하농도가 1017~1020 cm-3 정도의 넓은 범위에서 10 cm2/Vs 을 넘는 홀 이동도를 가지는 ZTO 박막의 증착이 가능함을 확인하였으며, 이로부터 투명 TFT 소자로 적용이 가능성이 있음을 보였다. EPMA를 이용한 정량분석 및 XRD를 이용한 구조분석과 연계한 ZTO 박막의 물성 및 최적 조건에 대한 논의가 이루어질 것이다.

  • It is so hard to obtain optimal anterior esthetics in the implant prosthesis. This is not only because of hard and soft tissue problem such as alveolar bone resorption and interdental papilla loss but also because of prosthetic limitation related to marginal exposure of metal abutment and metal ceramics and low transillumination. In this case, guided soft tissue healing is obtained using a long term provisional restoration with soft and hard tissue augmentation or immediate implantation. Then, this healed tissue is transferred to final master model using a customized impression coping and the implant is restored with a customized zirconia abutment and a all ceramics. This case presents satisfying result esthetically and functionally.

Optical Transmittance of Polybenzoxazole Precursor (폴리벤조옥사졸 전구체의 광투과도 연구)

  • Poly(ο-hydroxyamide)s as polybenzoxazoles precursors were synthesized by polycondensation from 2,2'-bis(3-amino-4-hydroxyphenyl) hexafluoropropane and various bis-acids. And the polymers were modified to acid-sensitive polyamides by introducing tetrahydropyran in order to impart photosensitivity. A study of optical transmittance at 365 nm, according to the chemical structure of bis-acid, revealed that the polymer derived from 4,4'-oxydibenzoic acid showed better optical transparency than those from other bis-acids. This tendency of optical transmittance could be explained by formation of charge transfer complex. In case of the polymer derived from 4,4'-oxydibenzoic acid, the electron accepting characteristic of bis-acid is reduced by introduction of electron donating group, -O-. Thus, optical transmittance increased due to the diminished formation of intramolecular charge transfer complex. In addition, the optical transmittance increased with increasing the THP content in the polymer. This is attributed to the reduced intermolecular interaction by the loosening of the packing density of the polymer chain.

  • Terpolymer syrups were photopolymerized from 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, 2-hydroxylethyl acrylate and isobornyl acrylate to prepare acrylic pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs). After polymerization, various crosslinkers as 1,6-hexanediol diacrylate (HDDA), poly (ethylene glycol) diacrylate (PEGDA, Mn = 250, 575, and 700) were added and then UV-irradiated to prepare the semi-IPN type PSAs. Their adhesion performance and storage modulus (G') were strongly dependent on their chemical structure and molecular weight of the crosslinkers. Optical properties such as transmittance (> 92.5 %), haze (< 1.0 %) and color-difference (< 0.3) of PSAs samples were not affected by crosslinker types used in this study.

Development of Modified Starch by Gamma Irradiation (감마선을 이용한 변성전분의 개발)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the production technology of modified starch. Corn starches were gamma irradiated at 0-110 kGy and the effect of irradiation dose levels on the physicochemical properties of corn starches were investigated. Blue value linearly decreased, while alkali number and solubility markedly increased as irradiation dose levels were increased. The optical transmittance increased as applied irradiation dose levels were increased in the temperature range of $65-95^{\circ}C.$ Water binding capacity and swelling power showed maximum value at 30 and 10 kGy, respectively and they tended to decrease thereafter. Gelatinization viscosity of the gamma irradiated starch considerably decreased as compared to that of the non-irradiated starch. Irradiation at 110kGy resulted in a marked reduction of peak viscosity and cooling viscosity at $30^{\circ}C$ by 100 and 300 times, respectively. The physicochemical properties of corn starch irradiated at 30 kGy were similar to those of commercial acid-modified starch, while those of corn starch irradiated at 100 kGy were similar to those if oxidized starch.

Physicochemical Properties of Physically Modified Rice Starch by Homogenizer (균질기를 이용한 물리적 변성 쌀 전분의 이화학적 특성)

  • The objectives of this research were to analyze physicochemical properties of physically modified rice starch which was prepared by hydro-shear homogenizer and ultrasonic homogenizer. The 5:1 of water to starch ratio, 20,500 rpm of hydro-shear homogenizer, and 5 sec of pulse and 40 kHz of frequency of ultrasonic homogenizer, which were operated for 10 min. The 1/3 of size reduction of raw rice starch and gelatinized rice starch, and reduced of particle size were achieved by above processing conditions. The homogenization of raw rice starch and gelatinized rice starch were higher values of specific area, transmittance, solubility and swelling power than control. While, these had lower value of apparent viscosity than control. In raw rice starch, the gelatinization characteristics of ultrasonic homogenizer treated rice starch had some higher values of gelatinization temperature, peak temperature and enthalpy than those of control. While, those of hydro-shear homogenizer treated rice starch had similar values to those of control.

The DC magnetron sputtering vacuum deposition of indium tin oxide thin film (ITO 박막의 DC 마그네트론 스퍼터링 진공 증착)

  • Indium-tin-oxide (ITO) films show a low electrical resistance and high transmittance in the visible range of an optical spectrum. The transparent electrodes have to get resistivity and sheet resistance less than $1{\times}10^{-3}{\Omega}/cm$ and $10^3{\Omega}/sq$ respectively and transmittance over 80% at wavelength of 380nm~780nm. This study establishes DC magnetron sputtering process condition on ITO thin film by measuring electrical and optical properties of the thin film. As results, we obtained $300\;{\mu}{\Omega}cm$ resistivity of ITO films with good transmittance (above 90 %) under 90:10 wt% composition rate of $In_2O_3:SnO_2$. Also, we understood that the ITO thin film by DC magnetron sputtering depends on the deposition condition, especially substrate temperature, and the composition rate of $In_2O_3:SnO_2$ that is one of the most critical parameters was successfully optimized for high qualified transparent electrodes.

Properties of Amaranth Flour Processed by Various Methods (다양한 방법으로 가공처리한 아마란스 가루의 특성)

  • Processed foods were developed using amaranth starch and flours. Amaranth seeds were untreated (UT), defatted (DF), germinated (GM), roasted (RT), popped (POP), and extruded (EX1 and EX2). Amaranth flours showed A-type pattern on X-ray diffractograms, while crystallinity was not observed in POP, EX1, and EX2. POP and EX1 showed highest (740.3%) and lowest (38.5%) water-binding capacities, respectively. Transmittances of RT, POP, EX1, and EX2 flour suspensions were higher than those of others. Transmittance of amaranth starch and flours differed with processing methods. RT, POP, EX1, and EX2 showed higher transmittance at $60^{\circ}C$. Initial pasting temperature of amaranth flours by RVA were $68.1-73.0^{\circ}C$, and peak viscosities of GM and RT were 31.6 and 401.1 RVU, respectively. Melting endotherms of POP, EX1, and EX2 were not observed in DSC thermograms.

RF magnetron sputtering에 의해 제작된 $SnO_2$ 투명전극의 구조적 및 광학적 특성

  • 투명 전극(transparent conducting oxide, TCO)은 높은 전기전도도 및 낮은 비저항 ($10^{-4}{\sim}10^{-3}\;{\Omega}cm$)과 가시광영역에서의 우수한 광투과도(> 80%) 특성을 가지며, 주로 디스플레이, 태양전지, 가스 센서 소자 등에 쓰인다. 투명전극으로 쓰이는 대표적인 물질로서는 ITO, ZnO, $SnO_2$ 등이 있으며, ITO는 전기적 특성이 우수하여 널리 사용되고 있으나 가격이 비싸고 화학적으로 불안정하고, ZnO는 ITO에 비해 가격이 저렴하지만 고온에서 불안정한 특성을 가지고 있다. 반면, $SnO_2$는 ITO와 ZnO에 비해 전기적 특성은 떨어지지만, 우수한 열적, 화학적 안정성 및 높은 내마모성을 가지고 제조단가가 저렴하여 TCO 재료로 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. TCO 박막을 증착시키는 방법으로 CVD, ion plating, sputtering, spray pyrolysis 등이 있으며, 이 중 sputtering 방법은 균일한 입자로 균질의 박막을 입힐 수 있고 우수한 재현성과 낮은 온도에서도 증착이 가능하여 박막 제조 방법으로 널리 이용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 $SnO_2$ 박막을 실리콘 (100) 및 글라스 (Eagle 2000) 기판 위에 RF magnetron sputtering 방법을 사용하여 제작하였다. 박막 증착을 위해 99.99%의 2 인치 un-doped $SnO_2$ 타겟을 사용하였고, 기판은 20 rpm 으로 회전시켜 균일한 박막이 형성될 수 있도록 하였으며, 초기 진공도는 $1{\times}10^{-6}\;Torr$가 되도록 하였다. 증착 변수로 기판-타겟간 거리, RF 파워, $O_2/(Ar+O_2)$ 비, 공정압력, 기판 온도 등을 각각 변화 시키며 $SnO_2$ 박막을 증착하였다. 증착된 박막의 구조적 및 광학적 특성을 분석하기위해 FE-SEM, AFM, XRD, UV/VIS spectrophotometer, Photoluminescence 등을 사용하였다.
