A Study on the Optical Properties and Electrochromism of Amorphous $WO_3$ Thin Films (비정질 $WO_3$ 박막의 광특성 및 일렉트로크로미즘에 관한 연구)

  • The optical properties and electrochromism of amorphous $WO_3$ thin films were studied. $WO_3$ thin films with thickness of 3000$\AA$~6000$\AA$ were deposited by vacuum evaporat.ion. All these films were transparent and found to be amorphous in structure by X-ray diffraction analysis and the visible wave length refractive indices were found to be between 1.9 and 2.1 and the optical energey gap to be 3.25 eV. Electrochromic devices were made consisting of IT0 transparent electrode, $WO_3$ thin films, $LiCIO_4$- propylene carbonate and Pt counter electrode. In terms of their operation, the amorphous $WO_3$ films were colored blue by a double injection of electrons from the transparent electrode and lithium ions from the $LiCIO_4$-propylene carbonate organic electrolyte and made colorless by electrochemical oxidation reaction. The electrochromic properties of $WO_3$ thin films including coloration and bleaching, optical density and response time were all found to be strongly dependent on the film deposition condition, electrolyte concentration, sheet resistance of the transparent electrode and applied voltage.

청색과 녹색 GaN계 LED 및 LD소자를 이용한 자발 발광 시 효율 감소 현상에 대한 연구

  • III-N계 물질로 이루어진 GaN 기반의 광 반도체는 직접 천이형 넓은 밴드갭 구조를 갖고 있기 때문에 적외선부터 가시광선 및 자외선까지를 포함한 폭 넓은 발광파장 조절이 가능하여 조명 및 디스플레이 관련 차세대 광원으로 많은 관심을 받고 있다. 하지만, GaN기반의 발광 다이오드는 많은 연구기관들의 오랜 연구에도 불구하고 고출력을 내는데 있어 여전히 많은 문제들이 존재한다. 그 중, 주입전류 증가에 따른 효율감소 현상은 출력을 저해하는 대표적인 요소로 알려져 있는데, 이전의 연구 결과에서 알려진 효율감소 현상의 원인으로 결정결함에 의한 누설전류, Auger 재결합, 이송자 넘침 현상 그리고 p-n접합부의 온도 상승 등의 현상이 알려져 있다 [1-2]. 하지만 여전히 주입 전류 증가에 따른 효율 감소 현상의 원인에 대해 명확한 해답은 없으며 아직도 많은 논의가 이루어 지고 있다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 GaN기반의 청색 및 녹색 LD와 LED소자를 이용하여 주입전류 밀도의 변화에 따른 자발 발광 영역에서의 효율감소 현상의 원인을 규명하고 한다. 유기금속화학증착법(MOCVD)를 이용하여 c면 사파이어 위에 서로 다른 발광파장을 가지는 InGaN/GaN 다중양자우물구조의 질화물계 LED와 LD 박막을 제작하였으며 성장 구조에 의한 특성으로 인해 발생하는 효율 저하 현상을 방지하고자 InGaN/GaN으로 이루어진 다중양자우물층의 조성만 제어하여 청색과 녹색으로 발광하도록 하였다. 청색 및 녹색 LD 웨이퍼들을 이용하여 주입전류 증가에 따른 발광특성을 조사하기 위해 LD와 LED는 표준 팹 공정에 의해 제작되었다. 전계 발광 측정을 위해 상온에서 직류 전류를 주입하여 GaN계 청색 및 녹색 LED와 LD에 각 5 mA/cm2에서 50 mA/cm2까지 전류밀도를 증가시킴에 따라 LD 및 LED칩 형태에 상관없이 청색 LD와 LED의 파장은 약 465nm에서 약 458nm로 감소하였고 녹색 LD와 LED의 파장은 약 521nm에서 약 511~513 nm까지 단파장화가 발생했다. 이는 동일한 웨이퍼에 동일한 전류 밀도를 주입하였기 때문에 발생하는 것으로 판단된다. 그러나, 청색 LED의 효율은 50 mA/cm2에서 약 70%정도로 감소하고 반면 녹색 LED의 경우 동일한 전류밀도 하에 약 52%정도로 감소하였지만, 청색과 녹색 LD의 경우 동일한 전류 밀도의 범위 내에서 더욱 낮은 효율저하 현상을 나타내었다. 또한, 접합 온도를 측정한 바 청색소자가 녹색 소자에 비하여 낮은 접합 온도를 나타낼 뿐아니라, 청색 및 녹색 LD의 경우 LED 보다 낮은 접합 온도를 나타내고 있었다. 이는 InGaN 활성층의 In 조성이 증가할수록 비발광 센터에 의한 접합온도 상승 뿐 아니라, LD ridge 구조에서 더 많은 열이 방출되어 접합 온도가 감소될 수 있는 것으로 판단된다. 우리는 동일한 웨이퍼에 LED와 LD를 제작하였고, 동일한 전류 주입밀도를 인가하였기 때문에 LD와 LED의 효율 감소 현상의 차이는 이송자 넘침 현상, 결정 결함, 오제 재결합 등이 원인보다 활성층의 접합 온도 상승이 가장 큰 영향이 될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

Characteristics and Stability of the Color of the Cranberry Solution (크랜베리 수용액 색상의 특성 및 안정성)

  • Effects of pH, temperature, light, sugars, organic acids, metal ions, ascorbic acid, thiamine nicotinic acid and pyridoxine on the stability of the color of the cranberry solution were investigated. The pH had marked influences on the color of the cranberry solution: i.e., the color of the cranberry solution was more intense at low pH. It showed characteristic bathochromic shift as the pH of the solution increased. The half-lives of olor value were 34 days at 37$^{\circ}C$, 91 mins at 9$0^{\circ}C$ and 29 mins at 12$0^{\circ}C$. Light gave an adverse effect to the stability of the color. The color degradation can be minimized by shielding the light from the cranberry solution. Among the sugars tested, fructose was the most deleterious followed by sucrose, galactose, maltose and glucose. Fumaric acid was found to be the most effective in stabilizing the color followed by citric acid, malic acid, acetic acid, while tartaric acid was found to be deleterious. Among the metal ions tested N $a^{+}$ and $Mg^{2+}$ were found to be effective in stabilizing the color, while M $n^{2+}$ was found to be the most deleterious followed by F $e^{2+}$, $K^{+}$ and $Ca^{2+}$. Ascorbic acid was found to be deleterious considerably followed by thiamine, while nicotinic acid and pyridoxine were found to be effective in stabilizing the color feebly.or feebly.

Study on the Stability of Anthocyanin Pigment Extracted from Purple Sweet Potato (자색고구마 색소의 안정성에 관한 연구)

  • Stabilities of purple sweet potato (PSP) anthocyanin pigment on pH, sugars, organic acids, metal ions, ascorbic acid and light were investigated to provide the basic information for utilization of PSP as a potential source of anthocyanin pigment. pH has a marked influences on the color of the PSP anthocyanin solution; i.e., at low pH the color of PSP was more intense and stable. It showed characteristic bathochromic shift as the pH of the solution increased. Among the sugars tested, glucose showed a protective effect on the color of PSP pigment to raise the color intensity and stability, while sucrose and fructose showed an adverse effect. Addition of organic acids greatly increased the stability of PSP anthocyanin pigment. Citric acid was found to be the most effective followed by malic. tartaric, and succinic acids. Most metal ions except $Al^{3+}$ and $Cd^{2+} were found to be detrimental effect on the stability of PSP pigment. Ascorbic acid degraded PSP pigment considerably, and had a synergistic effect with oxygen on the pigment degradation. The effect of light on PSP pigment was found to be very deleterious. The pigment degradation can be minimized by shielding the light from the pigment solution.

Efficient Triplet-triplet Annihilation-based Upconversion in Vegetable Oils (식물성 오일에서 구현되는 삼중항-삼중항 소멸법에 의한 Upconversion 분석)

  • We herein report efficient triplet-triplet annihilation upconversion (TTA-UC) achieved in various non-toxic and non-volatile vegetable oils as a UC media using platinum-octaethylporphyrin (PtOEP) and 9,10-diphenylanthracene (DPA) as a sensitizer and acceptor, respectively. Green-to-blue UC was readily achieved from PtOEP/DPA solution in vegetable oils with the quantum yield of 8% without any deoxygenation process. The UC efficiency was found to be significantly dependent on the contents of unsaturated hydrocarbon in vegetable oils and viscosity of the solution, as well. Though the Stern-volmer constant and quantum yield in vegetable oils were measured to be lower than those measured in the deaerated organic solvent, the quenching efficiency was still high enough to be 93%. In the sunflower oil, the UC threshold intensity ($I_{th}$) was approx. $100mW/cm^2$, which is far larger than the sunlight intensity, but we believe that the UC achieved in non-toxic and air-saturated media was still highly applicable to nontraditional visualization techniques such as bioimaging.

몰리브덴 산화물이 도핑한 NPB 층과 플러렌/리튬 플루오라이드 층을 이용한 유기발광소자의 발광특성

  • 유기발광소자(organic light-emitting diodes, OLEDs)는 저공정비용, 경량화, 가용성 및 대면적화 등의 장점으로 조명 분야와 디스플레이 분야로의 응용 가능성으로 인해 크게 주목을 받아 왔다. 이러한 OLED 소자의 고효율, 고휘도 및 저소비전력 등을 구현하기 위해서는 전극으로부터 전하 주입 층으로 효율적인 전하 주입이 요구된다. 즉, 각 전극의 폐르미 준위로부터 전하 전도준위대로의 전하주입 장벽이 없어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 홀 주입장벽이 없는 정공주입 층으로 $MoO_x$(molybdenum oxide)가 도핑된 NPB(N, N'-diphenyl-N, N'-bis(1-naphthyl)-1,1'-biphenyl-4,4'-diamine) 층을 사용하여 hole-only 소자를 제작하고 전류-전압 특성을 통해 양극으로부터 홀주입 층으로의 hole-ohmic 특성을 고찰했다. 또한, 전자 주입장벽이 없는 전자주입 층으로 $C_{60}$(fullerene)/LiF(lithum fluoride)의 이종 층을 사용하여 electron-only 소자를 제작하고 음극으로부터 전자주입 층으로의 전자 ohmic 특성을 조사했다. 또한, 전극으로부터 전하주입 층으로 ohmic 특성을 더 자세히 이해하기 위하여 전하주입 층의 자외선 광방출 스펙트럼(ultraviolet photoemission spectra)을 조사했다. 한편, glass/ITO/$MoO_x$-doped NPB (x%: x=0,25, 50 및 75; 5nm)/NPB (63nm)/$Alq_3$ (37nm)/$C_{60}$ (5nm)/LiF (1nm)/Al (100nm)로 구성된 all-ohmic OLED 소자의 발광특성은 $MoO_x$의 도핑 농도가 25%이상일 때 최적의 특성을 보여줬다. 이러한 현상은 정공주입 층에서 p형 도핑 농도의 증가에 따른 정공 농도의 증가에 기인한다. 또한 $MoO_x$의 도핑 농도의 증가에 따라 정공주입 층의 new gap state와 전극의 페르미 준위의 pinning에 기인한다. 25%의 $MoO_x$을 가진 OLED소자는 7.2V의 낮은 전압에서 $58300 cd/m^2$의 높은 휘도를 보여줬다.

Impedance Properties of Electroluminescent Device Containing Blended Polymer Single-Layer (고분자 블렌드를 이용한 EL 소자의 임피던스 특성)

  • We fabricated organic electroluminescent (EL) devices with single layer of poly(3-dodeoylthiophene) (P3DoDT) hlended with different amounts of poly(N-vinylcarbazole) (PVK) as a emitting layer. The molar ratio between P3DoDT and PVK changed with 1:0, 2:1 and 1:1. To improve the external quantum efficiency of EL devices, we applied insulating layer, LiF layer, between polymer emitting layer and Al electrode. All of the devices emit orange-red light and it's can be explained that the energy transfer occurs from PVK to P3DoDT. In the voltage-current and voltage-brightness characteristics of devices applied LiF layer, current and brightness increased with increasing applied voltage. The brightness of the device have a molar ratio 1:1 with LiF layer was about 10 times larger than that of the device without PVK at 6V. Electrical impedance properties of ITO/emitting layer/LiF/Al devices were investigated. In the Cole-Cole plots of impedance data, one semicircle was observed. Therefore, the equivalent circuit for the devices can be designed as a single parallel resistor and capacitor network with series resistor.

적록청의 기본색을 이용한 백색 Organic Light-Emitting Devices(OLEDs)의 발광 특성

  • 적록청(Red, Green, Blue : RGB)의 세 기본 염료(primary dyes)를 사용하여 백색 유기전계발광소자(White Organic Light Emitting Devices : WOLEDs)을 유기물 분자선 증착(Organic Molecular Beam Deposition)방법에 의해서 제작하였다. 소자의 구조는 $ITO/{\alpha}-NPD(40nm)/DPVBi(6nm)/Alq_3(12nm)/Alq_3:DCJTB(7nm,3%)\;or\;DPVBi:DCJTB(7nm,3%)/Alq_3(35nm)/MgAg(150nm)$으로, red 발광층의 host 물질을 $Alq_3$ 또는 DPVBi의 두 종류를 사용하여 소자를 제작하였다. 이들 소자들은 전류밀도가 증가함에 따라 스펙트럼 곡선의 변화가 거의 보이지 않았으며, 색좌표는 전류밀도 $20mA/cm^2$에서 (0.34,0.34)이고 $100mA/cm^2$에서(0.32,0.33)으로 비교적 안정적이였다. $Alq_3$을 red 발광층의 host로 사용한 소자는 $10mA/cm^2({\sim}6V)$에서 luminance yield가 1.87cd/A 또는 $100cd/m^2({\sim}5.5V)$에서는 발광효율 1.21m/w으로, DPVBi을 red 발광층의 host로 사용한 소자보다 약 20%의 효율향상을 보였다. 그러나 전류밀도 $30mA/cm^2$ 이상에서는 발광효율이 반전되어 나타났다. 이런 현상은 DPVBi을 red 발광층의 host로 사용한 소자가 $Alq_3$을 red 발광층의 host로 사용한 소자보다 발광 소광 현상이 적게 일어난 것에 기인하였다고 생각된다. 두 소자 모두 $40mA/cm^2$ 에서 이상적인 화이트 발란스와 같은(0.33,0.33)의 색좌표를 보였다.

The pH had marked influences on the color of the potato anthocyanin pigment: i.e., the lower the pH of the anthocyanin solution was, the more stable and intenser of the pigment was. It showed characteristic bathochromic shift as the pH of the solution increased. Generally, the addition of sugars into the purple-fleshed potato anthocyanin solution caused decrease in color stability of the pigment. Among the sugars tested, maltose was the most deleterious followed by sucrose, galactose, fructose and glucose. The addition of organic acids greatly increased the stability of the pigment. Malic acid was found to be the most effective in stabilizing the pigment followed by tartaric, citric and succinic acids, while malonic acid was found to be deteriorative to the stability of the pigment. Most metal ions except $Cu^{2+}$ increased stability of the pigment-especially, $Cd^{2+}\;and\;Al^{3+}$ were more effective than the others. Ascorbic acid degraded the pigment considerably, but the adverse effect was diminished by adding thiourea. Light gave an adverse effect to the stability of the purple-fleshed potato anthocyanin pigment, which could be minimized by shielding the light from the pigment.

  • Transition from mass tourism to post tourism is closely related with developing various types of cultural tourism. This study attempts to construct a conceptual framework of the development of cultural tourism through identifying the existing development stages of cultural tourism sites from birth to full development. This study clarifies that there exists an organic system among tourism, cultural activities and the production of cultural artifacts. It also found that development of cultural tourism sites goes through the following three stages: positioning and building place image, hard branding, and constructing local system. This study analyzes several key elements for respective of stages, which proved helpful in understanding the development mechanism of cultural tourism sites. It also tries to analyze tourism from an integrated, geographical perspective. The analysis gives us an understanding to the relations between tourism and various aspects of regional society and economy, thus contributing to the development of a system that will lead to active interchanges among those factors. Most of the theoretical background of this study: place identity, place image, activity space, local system and network are based on the concepts and ideas of human geography.
