Application of Geophysical Techniques for Observing the Void Ratio Changes of Dredged Soils (준설토의 간극비 변화 관찰을 위한 물리탐사기법의 적용)

  • It is necessary to understand the behavior of the soils for the dredging constructions. The objective of this study is to estimate void ratio and density changes of the dredged soils by using the geophysical testing methods. A series of laboratory tests is performed to obtain geotechnical index properties of the specimen, retrieved from the west coastal of Korea. The sedimentation and self-weight consolidation tests are carried out with observing changes of the interfacial height and the elastic wave velocities. The same amounts of the soils are poured into the testing column at intervals of 12 hours until the interheight reaches to a certain level. After the completion of the sedimentatation and self-weight consolidation tests, downward permeability test is performed to assess a tidal influence in the nearshore. The mini resistance cone is penetrated into the specimen to measure the electrical resistivity with depth. All tests are completely finished, the weight of specimens are measured to calculate the void ratio with the depth. Experimental results show that the aspects of the self-weight consolidation are invisible during dredging process because of rapid sedimentation characteristics of ML. However, the elastic wave velocities increase with increasing in the effective stresses. During permeability test, measured permeability and the elastic wave velocities maintain almost identical values. Void ratio based on the elastic wave velocities changes linearly with time during the step dumpings. Void ratio estimated by the electrical resistivity represents the repeatedly layered depositions according to the step-by-step dumpings. Void ratio determined by soil sampling is similar to those of elastic waves and electrical resistivity profiles. This experimental study demonstrates that the geophysical testing methods may be an effective method for evaluating the behavior of dredged soils.

A Network Coding Based Green Cognitive Radio Network (네트워크 코딩 기반 저탄소·친환경 인지 라디오 네트워크)

  • With the rapid increase of energy consumption and environmental problems, the need for green techniques is increasing. Network coding can provide a solution by reducing unnecessary data transmission and by estimating traffic patterns. In addition, it can amplify the synergy with the cognitive radio network (CR) since the CR has recognition and optimal decision functionalities. In this paper, we propose a network coding based green cognitive radio network. With the simulations, we show that the proposed scheme is up to 25% better than the previous work.

  • In many tunnels, falling or sliding of rock blocks often occur, which cannot be predicted because of the complexity of rock discontinuities and it has brought an exponential increase in costs and time to manage. It is difficult to estimate the properties of rock masses before the tunnel excavation. The observational design and construction method in tunnels has been becoming important recently. In this study, a new hybrid stochastic-deterministic rock block analysis method for the prediction of the unstable rock blocks before the tunnel excavation is proposed, and then applied to the tunnel construction based on actual rock discontinuity information observed in the field. The comparisons and investigations with the analytical results in the tunnel construction have confirmed the validity and applicability of this new hybrid stochastic-deterministic rock block analysis method in tunnels.

3D surface Reconstruction of Moving Object Using Multi-Laser Stripes Irradiation (멀티 레이저 라인 조사를 이용한 비등속 이동물체의 3차원 형상 복원)

  • We propose a 3D modeling method for surface inspection of non-linear moving object. The laser lines reflect the surface curvature. We can acquire 3D surface information by analyzing projected laser lines on object. ill this paper, we use multi-line laser to make use of robust of single stripe method and high speed of single frame. Binarization and channel edge extraction method were used for robust laser line extraction. A new labeling method was used for laser line labeling. We acquired sink information between each 3D reconstructed frame by feature point matching, and registered each frame to one whole image. We verified the superiority of proposed method by applying it to container damage inspection system.

  • Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) method for Photovoltaic (PV) system is implemented in PV inveter and it generate the maximum electric power from PV cell. MPPT method has been studied to have high efficiency and high tracking speed. However, these studies are basically focused on the performance under fixed irradiance condition. Based on the typical Perturbation and Observation (P&O) method, this paper presents the research results on modified P&O method to have a better performance under varying irradiance condition. The modified P&O method can have a better performance under varying irradiance condition because the additional measurements during the MPPT control period are conducted. The proposed MPPT method is verified by using 250kW PV inverter under linearly varying irradiance condition according to EN 50530.

Observation of Fatigue Crack Growth Behavior in 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V Steel Using Image Processing Technology (영상처리기법을 이용한 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V 강의 피로균열 성장거동 관찰)

  • The development of a new experimental method is required to easily observe the growth behavior of fatigue cracks. To satisfy the requirement, an image processing technique was introduced to fatigue testing. The length of surface fatigue crack could be successfully measured by the image processing system. At first, the image data of cracks were stored into the computer while the cyclic loading was interrupted. After testing, crack length was determined using an image processing software which was developed by authors. Various image processing techniques like a block matching method was applied tc the detection of surface fatigue cracks. By comparing the data measured by the image processing system with those by the manual measurement with a microscope, the effectiveness of the image processing system was established. If the proposed method is used to monitor and observe the crack growth behavior automatically, the time and efforts for fatigue test could be dramatically reduced.

THE RECOVERY TECHNIQUE OF ERRONEOUS BLOCKS BASED ON THE SPATIAL INTERPOLATION (영상의 공간적 보간을 응용한 손상된 영상 구획의 복원 기법)

  • 본 논문에서는 공간적 보간을 응용하여 손상된 영상 구획의 데이터를 복원하는 기법을 제시한다. 이러한 기법은 손상된 영상을 부가 정보 없이 복원하는 오류 은폐의 핵심으로 Park[3], Wang[4], Sun[9], Lee[7], Hemami[8] 등에 의해서 여러 가지 기법들이 제안되었다. 그러나 이러한 기법들은 단순히 주변 구획과의 경계면에서의 연속성만을 고려하여 복원하므로 구획 내부의 데이터를 복원하는데 한계가 있으며 계산량도 많은 단점이 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이러한 기존의 기법들의 단점을 극복하기 위하여 Non-Unform Rational B-Spline(NURBS)을 응용한 복원 기법을 제안한다. 제시된 주변 구획의 오류 유무와 윤곽선의 방향에 따라 주변 구획의 화소 정보에 할당되는 가중치를 적절히 변경하여 NURBS를 적용한다. 따라서 윤곽선의 방향을 더욱 견실하게 복원함으로써 주관적, 객관적 관점에서 기존의 기법보다 우수한 영상 구획 복원 성능을 얻을 수 있다. 정지 영상에 대한 컴퓨터 모의 실험 결과 제안하는 알고리듬을 기존의 기법보다 30% 구획 손실율에서 0.5 dB이상 성능 향상을 얻을 수 있음을 관찰하였다.

Fractal을 이용한 인간공학적 응용에 관한 논고

  • 본 연구는 기존의 연구 방법과는 상이한 방법을 이용하여 인체의 특정 부위를 측정하거나 측정치의 산출을 위한 기법을 Fractal의 기법을 이용하여 고찰하고자 함에 있다. 인간공학적인 측면에서 볼 때 인체 구성의 관찰 및 측정은 실험기기를 이용하거나 기타 방법으로 행하는 것이 일반적이다. 여기서는 이러한 결과치가 도출되기 까지의 방법들을 Fractal 기법으로 접근하여 인체의 특정 부위의 측정치를 구하고자 하는데 목적을 둔다. 따라서 Chaos 이론과 Fractal 이론을 먼저 이해하고 이에 접근할 수 있는 최적의 방법들을 선정 하여 인간공학적인 측면에서 제시되는 해에 부합되는 결과치를 도출하고자 하는데 있다.
