CCTV and Privacy - Tools for Security or Eyes of Surveillance? - (CCTV와 프라이버시 - 안전을 위한 도구인가, 감시의 눈인가? -)

  • It is said that we live in an age of technology. And indeed, science and technology do play key roles to our life of happiness, but they are equally central in all events that threaten it. Science and technology are the means we often turn to in seeking solutions to our problems, and in turn are often the apparent sources of new problems. Thus it is not surprising that they have two aspects at the same time. CCTV has been presented to us as a technical solution to security problems. With the help of CCTV, we can more effectively prevent, detect, and prosecute crimes. With the help of CCTV, both public and private spaces can be made more secure. But of course, CCTV also has a down side. The down side most prominently anticipated has been loss of privacy and proliferation of surveillance. It is largely this potential problem with CCTV that has been regulated against. It is said that one reason for imposing a limitation on individual privacy is the societal interest in the prevention of crime. Accordingly a balance between the need to prevent crime through the use of CCTV and the duty to respect the privacy interests of individual citizens is in need of redress. In other hand, two theories of socio-political philosophy may have provided useful ways of understanding the role of CCTV in contemporary society. Firstly, neo-Marxist frameworks, for instance, stress the use of CCTV to police existing unequal socioeconomic divisions within society and the dominance of particular forms of order based upon materialist agendas. Secondly, Foucauldian frameworks contend that Foucault's notion of panoptic surveillance underpinning (self) disciplinary society is an appropriate template for understanding CCTV in late-modern society. In order to find a new point of valance between security and privacy in the use of CCTV, the participation of each citizen in the discourse to make the new norm is necessary. And to prevent its political misuse, their surveillance, or check for the potential surveillance-power is required.

The Comment on Valuable and Significant Mozi's Theories Based on a military Thoughts (논(論)『묵자(墨子)』군사사상급기현대의의(軍事思想及其現代意義))

  • This research shows that Mozi setting forth a military thoughts will be discussed and lighted up in modern value. Mozi's theory on a military was formed in order to protect weak people from the strong in the basis of his philosophy of not attacking. It is different from the art of war for attack. There are some merits in Mozi's strategy of war that we have to take notice of. First of all, Mozi indicated that married women, the old and children was provided with specific roles in the war times. Especially, married women' parts will be equal to men. The old and children should usually be respected for the government to offer them important roles in the war time. Therefore, this paper will be showed in the respect of Mozi's thoughts that is considered as human being's fundamental rights in terms of ensuring the weak's rights. Furthermore, Mozi's theories on technology from loving the civil was applied to defensive fight and his advanced arms was arranged in the actual fight. However, his arms could be useful to the only defensive fight. This case was reflected as Mojia's theories that science is sincerely useful toward the civil. There will be some small or large wars in the future. Mozi's theories based on a military peaceful thoughts that everyone ought to be loved without discrimination should be highly valued when all wars will take place for the purpose of their own profits.

Thought Experiments: on the Working Imagination and its Limitation (사고실험 - 상상의 작용과 한도에 대해)

  • The use of thought experiments has a long history in many disciplines including science. In the field of philosophy, thought experiments have frequently appeared in the pre-existing literature on the contemporary Analytic Philosophy. A thought experiment refers to a synthetic environment where the designer of the experiment-with his or her intuition and imagination-tests common-sense knowledge. It can be understood as a conceptual tool for testing the validity of the common understanding of an issue or a phenomenon. However, we are not certain about the usefulness or efficacy of a thought experiment in knowledge production. The design of a thought experiment is meant to lure readers into believing as intended by the experiment itself. Thus, regardless of the purpose of a thought experiment, many readers who encounter the experiment could feel deceived. In this paper, to analyze the logic of thought experiments and to seek the source of uneasiness the readers and critics may feel about thought experiments, I draw lessons from three renowned thought-experiments: Thomson's 'ailing violinist', Putnam's 'brain in a vat', and Searle's 'Chinese room'. Imaginative thought experiments are usually constructed around a gap between the reality and the knowledge/information at hand. From the three experiments, several lessons can be learned. First, the evidence of the existence of a gap provided via thought experiments can serve as arguments for counterfactual situations. At the same time, the credibility and efficacy of the thought experiments can be damaged as soon as the thought-experiments are carried out with inappropriate and/or murky directions regarding the procedures of the experiment or the background of the study. According to D. R. Hofstadter and D. C. Dennett(1981), the 'knob setting' in a thought experiment can be altered in the middle of a simulation of the experimental condition, and then the implications of the thought experiment change altogether, indicating that an entirely different conclusion can be deduced from thought experiment. Lastly, some pre-suppositions and bias of the experiment designers play a considerable role in the validity and the chances of success of a thought experiment; thus, it is recommended that the experiment-designers refrain from exercising too much of their imagination in order to avoid contaminating the design of the experiment and/or wrongly accepting preconceived/misguided conclusions.

A Study Concerning the Background of Formation in Deleuze's System (들뢰즈 체계의 형성 배경에 대한 연구 - 칸트 선험철학 체계 그 심연으로부터의 역류 -)

  • The objective of this paper is to reveal that the formation of Deleuze's system is a result of a back flow of the 'ideal of pure reason' in Kant's system. I will try to seize upon the keyword in his main book, Difference and Repetition, and examine the aspect of mutual transformation between Deleuze's transcendental empiricism and Kant's transcendentalism. When analyzing Deleuze's system, most researchers tend to focus on anti-Hegelianism, but it is proper that Kant be adopted as the start when tracing the way of deployment directly. Fundamentally, Deleuze is different from Hegel in his approach to observing entire ground of thought. Even if Deleuze surely has the capability of becoming in the dialectical context, his systemic environment wherein dialectics is applied is different even at the onset. While Hegel follows the way of origin and copy or a system that begins from a preceding point of origin, Deleuze follows a way of copy and recopy or a system that begins without a point of origin. This characteristic of Deleuze's system originates directly from idealistic play. In fact, we can anticipate and identify in his book that he refers to Kant who accepted the tradition of empiricism. Therefore, the main contents of this paper is to present an overview of Kant's influence on Deleuze's system. While tracing ideas back to Kant's system, the cohabitation of empiricism and rationalism, which Kant felicitously revoiced, there emerges a definitude of world recognition. This occurs through cohabitation, and this is both deconstructed and integrated by Deleuze, and therein definitude is turned into a vision of prosperity. To the vision of prosperity that spans definitude to recognition, a philosopher has the right to select a philosophical system because selection methodology in philosophy is not a problem of legitimacy so much as the needs of the times. Deleuze's choice resulted in the opening of pandora's box in an abyss and secret contents have in turn risen sharply.

Rediscovering the Interest of Science Education: Focus on the Meaning and Value of Interest (과학교육의 재미에 대한 재발견 -재미의 의미와 가치를 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to shed light on the meaning and value of interest (in Korean 'Jae-mi') in science education through literature analysis. Literature analyses were conducted on literature related to interest in various fields such as Korean language, psychology, philosophy, and education. Specifically, this study discussed the meaning of interest, the characteristics of the context of experiencing interest, the educational value of interest in science education, and the direction of science education to realize the value of interest. First, it was found that interest is an experience of emotional activation that can be felt through interaction with a specific object, and it is an emotional experience caused by the complex combination of various psychological factors, which is oriented sense, relationship, self, and object. Second, to understand the context of experience of interest, we conducted a topic modeling analysis with 1173 research articles related to interest. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the context of interest is closely related with playfulness. And we addressed that this kind of playfulness is also found in science. Third, the educational values of interest in science education were discussed. In science education, fun is not only an instrumental value to induce science learning behavior, it is also one of the universal experiences that learners feel lively in science teaching-learning, and driving force of individual students' emotional development related to science. The students' active attitude to feel interest lead to creative thinking and action. Finally, we argued that the interest that should be aimed in science education should be active interest and experienced at trial and error, not passive interest induced by external stimuli. And science education culture should be encouraged to respect those who enjoy science. In particular, this study discussed the importance of each student's unique interest experience based on the philosophy of philosopher Deleuze (1976).

A Study on Aesthetic Cognition of Space in Modern Architecture (근대건축공간의 미학적 인식에 관한 연구)

  • In early 20th century a tendency of composite art -the aesthetical historian's struggle to unify various genres including paintings with architecture -appered which was created on the basis of spacial thoughts. On aesthetic interpretation of arts the object of aesthetic cognition is formed not just by itself but by aesthetic consciousness systems and this means the object can be classified with basic type that has various figures within its aesthetic categories. Here this study is purposed to prescribe space as an object of aesthetic cognition and define its conceptional characteristics stylistic expressions then to play a role as basic study of aesthetics of architectural space forming aesthetic cognition and analysis of architecture.

  • 컴퓨터가 인간의 자연언어를 처리하고 이해하도록 하기 위한 많은 연구가 진행되어 왔다. 그러나 컴퓨터에 의해 자동으로 구축한 정보의 신뢰성 문제로 인해 그 효용성이 낮다. 따라서 최근에는 웹 2.0 환경에서의 집단지성을 통한 오픈지식의 구축과 지식 간의 링크 정보의 활용이 주목을 받고 있다. 그러나 양질의 지식을 구축하기 위해서는 인간의 개입이 불가피하며 대부분의 오픈지식도 사용자들의 노력에 의존하여 구축되고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 자연언어로 작성된 문장의 용어에 대한 태깅 작업을 지원하는 태깅지원 시스템을 개발한다. 개발한 시스템에서는 사용자가 문장을 작성하는 과정에서 자동으로 태깅 가능한 용어를 추천하고, 시스템이 추천한 용어에 대해 사용자는 태그셋(tagset) 에 등록된 태그 및 링크로 태깅을 수행한다. 이 시스템을 이용하여 경제, 과학, 문학, 철학의 4개 분야에 대해 5인의 실험자가 한글문서의 태깅 실험을 수행함으로써 개발한 시스템의 효용성을 확인한다.

  • 교육학의 질적 연구는 문헌 연구, 면담 연구, 비참여 관찰 연구, 참여 관찰 연구로 분류한다. 문헌연구에는 내용분석, 철학적 연구, 역사학적 연구, 문학적 비평이 들어가고, 면담연구에는 구술사, 전기, 탐문(探問) 저널리즘 등이 포함되고, 비참여 관찰연구에는 전문적 감정(鑑定), 인간의 종적 특성 연구, 관찰자 연구, 비개입적 행동 연구 등이 포함된다. 마지막으로 참여 관찰연구는 일반적 현장연구, 문화 기술적 연구가 포함된다. 질적 연구는 사람, 사물, 현상의 범주화나 수량화가 가해지기 이전의 상태, 즉 '있는 그대로'의 상태에 최대한 접근하는 방법으로써, 고정관념을 깨고 기존의 이론을 최대한 유보한 채 연구에 임하는 것으로 최근에 발달한 인문사회과학적 연구방법이다. 질적 인식이 자연언어에 주로 의존하는 데 비해 양적 인식은 인공언어에 많이 의존한다. 수식과 도형, 부호등은 대표적인 인공언어이다. 모든 사물이 질과 양의 속성을 다 가지고 있듯이 모든 연구는 질적 과정과 양적 과정을 다 포함하고 있다. 질적이냐, 양적이냐 하는 구분은 연구방법론의 문제인데 연구방법론은 연구논리와 연구기법을 포함한다. 본 연구는 인공언어인 수와 식에만 익숙한 수학교육에서, 질적 연구가 왜 필요한지, 어떤 특성이 있는지 논의함으로써 수학교육의 새로운 방법론을 제시하고자 한다.

The mind have functional reaction of sensation, rational thinking, and emotional faculty for objective world.3. In Confuncianism, the mind express the Sung (性) which is based on the Heaven (天), and it control sensation, rational thinking, and emotional faculty.4. To the understanding ground of universal reality, the mind was explained Qi (氣) or Li (理), and come to an end about the sung (性).

교육기관의 마케팅 패러다임 변화에 대한 고찰

  • 본 연구는 비영리기관인 교육기관에 있어서 마케팅 패러다임이 어떻게 변화되고 있는지에 대한 포괄적인 내용을 검토해 보는데 주안점을 두고 있다. 마케팅개념이 주로 영리기관을 중심으로 소비자의 욕구만족이라는 개념으로 받아들여져 기업은 내적으로 효율적인 생산과 제품에 초점을 두는 경영철학을 견지하면서 기존의 마케팅 패러다임인 마케팅믹스 사고로 접근해 왔다. 그러나 최근 기업이 성장 발전하기 위해서는 고객의 현재적 욕구뿐만 아니라 잠재적 욕구까지도 미리 찾아내어 충족시킴으로 고객을 창조하고 더 나아가 고객을 감동시키고 지속적 관계유지를 위한 마케팅 패러다임으로 이동하고 있다. 비영리기관인 교육기관에 있어서도 마케팅개념의 도입과 전개과정은 영리기관의 마케팅패러다임의 변화와 일치하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 교육기관에 있어서 기존의 마케팅믹스 사고로 접근한 비영리 마케팅과 서비스마케팅을 재음미 해보고 새로운 통찰력을 제시해 주고 있는 마케팅패러다임의 변화와 새롭게 등장한 관계마케팅을 비영리기관인 교육기관에의 적용에 대해서 향후 구체적 연구에 대하여 문제제기를 하고 있다는 점에서 큰 의의를 찾을 수 있다.
