Competition and Coexistence of Visual Representations: Controversies about the Mechanism of Face Recognition in Neuroscience (시각화를 통한 재현의 경쟁과 공존: 신경과학의 얼굴 인식 메커니즘에 관한 논쟁을 중심으로)

  • Visualization techniques are transformed into reliable representations through socio-technological processes which include the agreement on the instrument and the embodiment of practices in relevant scientific communities. Visual representations thus produced are justified by realistic and epistemic virtues in science. This paper analyzes different visual images presented in the scientific papers of two research groups who argue different theories about the mechanism of face perception. These two scientific groups use the same fMRI technology; yet, different experimental paradigms and visual stimuli change their hypotheses into distinct testable theories, which in turn lead to different evidences to support their own theories. Visual evidences are intermediate representations which lie between fMRI brain images and scientific theories, and theoretical models obtain the scientific value based on the consistency in the chain of visual representations. This study shows that representations in science tend to be good representations within the context of scientific communities. It will provide a chance to think of the value and limit of the scientific knowledge

Study of Trend of Reporting on GMO as a Convergence Technology: Focused on analyzing Articles in Major Domestic Daily Newspapers from 1994 to 2015 (융복합기술로서 GMO에 관한 보도경향연구: 1994~2015년까지 국내 주요일간지 기사분석을 중심으로)

  • This study analyzed the contents of articles on GMO in Chosun Ilbo and Hankyoreh from 1994 through 2015 to check the trend of reporting on GMO as a science and technology risk issue. As a result, 'risk' and 'anxiety/concern' were continuously treated as important subjects, and there was a lack of depth and journalist's professionalism in all three periods: 'Introduction of GMO technology (1994-2000)', 'Development of GMO technology (2001-2010)' and 'Social acceptance of GMO (2011-2015).' In a comparison between the media with different ideological goals, the Chosun Ilbo had a stronger new-technological inclination to GMO than the Hankyoreh in reporting topics and tones of arguments. As a result of checking the relation of the tones in reporting with the 'risk-benefit' of GMO, reports in negative tones underlined 'risk' while those in positive tones, 'benefit.' This study could suggest improvements of subject bias and unprofessionalism in the domestic science journalism, the barometer of public awareness of disputes over science and technology risk.

The Method of Moral Education in the Age of Transhumanism (트랜스휴머니즘 시대의 도덕교육방안)

  • The purpose of this study is to elucidate on moral education's direction in the age of transhumanism. For transhumanism's moral education, I suggest a genetically modified plan, moral artificial intelligence method, and pharmacological method for moral bio-enhancement. I also suggest a plan for anti-transhumanism's moral education. Anti-transhumanism as a position in the ethical debate on human enhancement makes two main claims. One is a moral claim that human enhancement may disregard or violate something intrinsically valuable about human nature. The other is a political claim that human enhancement should be banned or severely restricted. In this article, I try to make a critical evaluation of transhumanism and anti-transhumanism. For this aim, I critically analyze the logic of both. Finally I argue that transhumanism's moral education has technological strengths and ethical weaknesses. But transhumanism's moral education can overcome the ethical weakness through human enhancement debate and real possibility. Anti-transhumanism's moral education needs to make significant influence through traditional education.

  • 20세기 말까지만 해도 경제발전은 자원고갈과 자연환경파괴를 통한 대량생산 및 대량소비를 전제로 하여 이루어 졌다고 평가할 수 있다. 그 결과 세계의 자연환경은 급속히 훼손되었으며, 환경오염은 이제 인류의 생존을 위협하는 단계에 이르렀다. 이 같은 위기상황에 대처하기 위하여 지난 1980년대부터 선진국을 중심으로 환경경영에 대한 인식이 확산되기 시작하였다. 무엇보다도 자연환경 의 보존을 요구하는 사회적 압력은 기업으로 하여금 환경경영 의 필요성을 깨닫게 하였다. 환경 경영이란 기업들이 새로운 비교 우위를 창출하기 위하여 경 영 방식의 혁신에 있어서 자연환경을 초점으로 삼는 것이다. 환경경영이란 환경보전을 요구하는 이해 관계자들로부터의 요구에 기업이 이에 적극적으로 대응함으로써 한경보호와 경영성과를 동시에 달성하는 종합적인 경영을 의미한다. 환경경영은 이업의 전 활동에 걸친 전사적인 전략적 차원의 활동으로 기업경영이 어느 한 기능분야에 국한된 개념이 아니다. 궁극적으로 환경보호와 성장의 조화라는 기업의 목표달성을 위해 기업의 생산, 재무, 인사조직, 마케팅, 회계정보시스템등의 활동이 모두 통합되어야 할 것이다. (김종대, 이의훈:2003) 최근 들어 환경경영이 기업의 가치에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구가 활발히 전개되고 있는 가운데 선진국의 경우 기업의 가치가 대체적으로 정확하게 주가에 반영되고 있는 가운데 선진국의 경우 기업의 가치가 대체적으로 정확하게 주가에 반영되고 있어 우리기업들이게 시사하는 바가 크다 하겠다. 환경경영과 기업가치와의 상관관계를 조사한 연구결과에 따르면 우수한 환경경영을 실천하고 있는 기업의 주식을 중심으로 포트폴리오를 구성한 펀드의 수익율이 상대적으로 높게 나타나고 있어 환경경영의 중요성을 뒷받침하고 있다. 이를 위하여 본 논문은 우선적으로 기업의 환경경영에 기본이 되는 중요한 환경경제 유인정 책과 규제들을 중심으로 살펴보고자 하였다.학적 합성이 아주 까다로운 약제물질 등을 천연상태에서 합성하고 있기 때문이다. 또 식물은 lipoxygenase 효소계가 있어서 마치 천연물 석유제조공장과 같은 제조공정 capacity를 가지고 있다. 그러면 식물/식품 GMO는 안전한 것인가? 아니, KBS의 한 사회자가 말했듯이, 그리고 많은 소비자들이 믿는 것처럼 GMO는 위험한가? GMO에 대한 일반 사람들의 공포감은 Green Peace 당원들뿐만 아니라 일부 과학자들에 의해서도 조장되고 있다. 이러한 분위기 속에서 GMO에 의한 제2 녹색혁명은 Africa 대륙에서의 제1 녹색혁명이 지금도 지연되는 것과 같다고도 볼 수 있다. GMO의 환경에 대한 악영향은 과대 선전되어있는 것이 아닌가? 마치 GMO가 화학비료, 농약제보다 더 위험하다고 믿는 사람들도 많다. 나는 이러한 GMO 공포증이 과학적으로 그리고 "Risk Assessment"의 견지에서 볼 때 그 근거가 희박하다고 보여주는 몇 몇 실험 및 경험 사실들을 인용하려 한다. 그리고 올바른 Risk Assessment야 말로 한국의 21세기 BT 산업을 경쟁력 있게 하고 국민 년 소득 2만불 달성에 중요한 기여를 하게 될 것이라고 생각한다. 한국은 농토가 적고 천연자원이 빈약하다. GMO는 21세기의 생존 경쟁 산업이다. 제2의 녹색혁명은 얼마든지 가능하며, 한국은 부족한 농토와 빈약한 자원에도 불구하고 능력 있는 인적자원이 풍부하여 GMO 개발 연구에 국제적 경쟁력을 키울 수 있다. 그러나 GMO에 대한 논쟁만 하고 있으면 이미 때가 늦는다. 미국은 이미 GMO-BT 시장을 거의 완전 독점했으며, 타국에서의 논쟁과 불합리적으로 엄격한 GMO 관련 규정을 조장하고 환영한다.이상의 결과와 같이 인삼 saponin 성분들은 arachidonic acid로부터 cyclooxygenase를 통해 일단 생성된 endoperoxide에서 각각의 prostagland

A Study on the Improvement of Patent Agent's Role in Patent Infringement Litigation (특허침해소송에서 변리사의 역할 개선 방안에 대한 연구)

  • Unlike other lawsuits, patent infringement litigation is a very difficult case to grasp without expert knowledge of the patented technology. The Patent Agent Act seems to recognize the legal representation of patent agent in Article 8, but the Constitutional Court and the Court have refused to recognize patent agent's legal representation right in the patent infringement suit. In this regard, constant controversy is taking place among patent agents and lawyers. This study examines the measures to enhance the effectiveness and professionalism of patent litigation in patent infringement litigation. This study analyzes the role of patent attorneys in patent infringement lawsuits in major countries and derive rational alternatives. As a result, it is inappropriate to restrict the attorneys' automatic acquisition of patent attorneys' qualifications or revise the patent attorneys' law in relation to the patent attorney's right of proxy. In the case of litigation parties, it is a desirable alternative to introduce a revised patent attorney system for the fundamental problem solving and to allow the litigants to reasonably choose the litigation agent.

원유의 세균학적 질:법적요구와 지불제도 - EU와 IDF 회원국 현황 -

  • 유질은 성분과 위생상태로 결정되어 진다. 질/위생은 사람건강 보호와 적정소비에 대한 관점에서 보면 장점인 영양적 중요성에서 오는 욕망을 이르키는 성질과 일정범위의 좋은점 사이에 원유변화와 만나게되는 것이 필요하다. 높은 질/위생적 원유에 대한 가치의 주요 평가는 : - 부패미 생물의 낮은 수 - 유방염 병원성균이 포함된 병원성군이 없거나 대단히 낮은 수 - 가능한 한 멀리 피할 것은 잔류와 오염 그리고 또는 최고잔류한계(Maximum Residue linits. )이하를 지킬 것. 우유내 부패세균은 다음 군에서 주요 우유성분에 대한 공격의 그들 주요점에 의하여 세분할 수 있다. - 당분해(Glycolytes) - Streptococci, lactobacill; - 단백질 분해(Proteolytes) - Pseudomonads, Enterobacteriaceae, Aerobic sporeformer - 지방분해(Lipolytes) - Pseudomonads, Micncocci, Aeromonads, Coryneb acteria 원유내 부패세균의 존재와 분열은 우유성분 변화와 생산품의 질에 영향을 줄 것이다. 더구나 원유의 맛은 역의 영향이 될 것이며 열 안정성 세균성 효소는 생산품에서 계속적으로 작용된다. 특히 오랜 저장시에 그러하다. 그리고 안정성, cream의 맛과 UHT 우유에 나쁜 영향을 준다. 이 병원성 세균을 고전적 미생물과 최근 발견된 미생물이 포함된다. 현재는 Salmonella, 병원성 E. Coli 균주, Listeria monocytogenes, Campylobacter Jejuni, Yersinia enterocolitica, Staphylococcm aureu는 대단히 중요하다. 원유의 세균학적 질과 지불제도에 대한 법적요구는 우유위생지침 92/94 EEC와 IDF설문 2893/A(전문가모임 A8군)의 결과를 기준으로 설명되었다. IDF Nr. 305/1995는 농장 지불제도에 관한 정보가92/93년 동안 IDF국가들 사이 차이나는 실제적 위치가 실려있다. 지불제도의 차이나는 현상은 보고의 초점과 연관 유질, 위생적 질, 우유시료채취, 수집방법론 그리고 여러가지 지불공식과 관계된 조사는 논쟁이 있었다. 현재 있는 자료를 제시한 몇 나라는 1992년에 응용한 것이고, 기타는 그후 응답으로 1993년과 1994년에 있던 것이 제시되었다. 식품위생에서 법적인 요구는 HACCP제도가 더욱더 추가로 포함된다. 더우기 위험분석은 위생과 질에 관련시켜 모든 연결결정에 대하여는 과학적 근거가 있어야 한다.

Meta-Analysis on Social Games Addiction (소셜 게임 중독에 대한 메타분석)

  • Previous literature reviews have provided important insights into social game addictions, but the issue still needs to be examined from other directions such as the distribution of research purposes. For this purpose, 61 papers from selected journals were analyzed by a meta-analysis method. Specifically, this study poses the following three research questions: (1) What are the major of research purposes and methodologies? (2) What are the highly cited articles in studies of social game addictions? Results showed five new findings: (1) the research purpose of most social game addictions studies focuses on investigating the effect, followed by evaluating the influence of social game addictions. (2) Surveys and experimental methods were the preferred research methods, regardless of whether the research purpose focused on investigating or evaluation. (3) Social game addictions studies are most prevalent at the game users, higher education institutions, followed by schools. (4) Social game addictions studies most frequently supports researcher in the professions and applied sciences, followed by humanities, formal sciences and social sciences. (5) The most highly cited articles fall into the categories of investigating the effects and followed by evaluating the influence, designing a model and evaluating the effects of social game addictions. In this regard, this study of issues in social game addictions presents findings that can help supplement linkages with previous studies and forms an important reference base to pursue deeper academic discussions in the current research fields. These results and findings not only to supplement understanding of social game addictions based on different and important viewpoints, but also to provide useful insights for researchers and educators into issues related to social game addictions studies in future.

Research Trends in Science Gifted Education from 2011 to 2015: Literature Analysis vs Social Network Analysis (2010년부터 2015년까지 국내 과학영재교육의 연구동향 분석 : 문헌분석 대 사회네트워크분석)

  • The study aimed to investigate a research trend in science gifted education of six years from 2010 to 2015 by utilizing literature analysis and Social Network Analysis (SNA) methods. In this study, 275 papers published in eight major academic journals of science education and gifted education were selected as research subjects. First, through the literature analysis, it was found that the most frequent research topics were cognitive characteristics (25.8%), curriculum/programs (22.6%), and social and emotional characteristics (20.2%). For the research method employed in research papers, the survey research (46.5%) was appeared as the most frequently employed method, and followed by experimental (18.8%), program development (10.6%), correlation (10.3%), and qualitative (6.4%) research methods. The most frequent research subject was appeared as middle school students (33.7%) and followed by elementary school (30.6%), and high school (12.7%) students. Second, the SNA method was utilized for producing keyword frequency, degree centrality and network analyses. It was appeared that the most common keywords over six years included 'science gifted', 'gifted education', and 'creativity' and frequent keywords were science gifted, gifted education, gifted, creativity, science inquiry, perception, (creative) problem solving, science high school, scientific attitude, and STEAM. Third, through 2-mode network analysis, it was found that the research papers about cognitive characteristics were mainly related to perceptions, thinking ability, scientific argumentation, science inquiry and so on. It was also found that the research papers about social and emotional characteristics were related to correlation, motivation, creativity-character, self-efficiency and so on. It was concluded that the SNA method can be performed with literature analysis together for better understandings and interpretations of the research trend of science gifted education in-depth.

Merits and Demerits of Analytical Marxism Searching for Solutions to the Political Economy of Media/Communication Industry (분석적 마르크시즘의 공과(功過) ‘마르크스주의 경제학’과 ‘신고전파 경제학’의 방법론 논쟁을 통한 미디어/커뮤니케이션 정치경제학의 방향 찾기)

  • The recent crises of Marxism do not mean Marx’s crisis. Marx said that he was not a Marxist. The purposes of this essay explore (1) the modern identity of the political economy; (2) the possibilities of mutual understanding between neoclassical economics and Marxist economics; (3) problems of the political economy in media and communication industry. I have begged for analytical Marxists, because of their good fruits. They accepted the methods of modern social science and they constituted a tremendous advance in the application of the scientific methods to the study of society. In insisting on micro-foundations(methodological individualism), analytical Marxism distinguished itself from structuralism and functionalism. I appreciate that analytical Marxism has reduced a theory to practice. But the works didn’t listen to everyone(from Marxists to un-Marxists), and explain everything. Making theory with production/consumption, macro/micro, and structure/behavior is a road to the political economy in the long run. It also applies to media and communication industry. The realm of media/communication is broad, which in philosophy, humanities, politics, economics, sociology, and engineering. And media policy is more complicated by politicians who look at the same situation from different angles. By the aid of interdisciplinary research, the political economy of media/communication shall explain at full length.

Effects of SSI Argumentation Program based on SEL for Preservice Biology Teachers (예비 생물교사를 위한 사회정서학습에 기반한 SSI 논증 프로그램 적용 효과 탐색)

  • This study examined the effect of the SSI argumentation program based on social and emotional learning(SEL). The program consisted of 3 stages: (1) express their own feelings about SSI, identify the issues of SSI, and define a goal; (2) think of many possible solutions and envision results through argumentation; (3) select the best solution and make a decision based on warrants, data, and rebuttals. In each stage, the social-emotional strategies of self-awareness, self-management, social-awareness, relationship-management, and responsible decision making were used. Seventeen preservice biology teachers participated in this study during one semester dealing with four socioscientific issues. The results indicated that the preservice teachers, as time went on, became accustomed to expressing identifiable rebuttals, dispute talk, and asking questions. At the first SSI argumentation, argumentation mainly consisted of cumulative talk with no rebuttals, representing level 2 argumentation. Level 3 argumentation represented rebuttals that were implicit and weak, with cumulative talk. In level 2 and 3 argumentation, the preservice teachers represented understanding of others and compassion for self and others. Level 4 argumentation had rebuttals that were explicit, asking critical questions of the opposite sides. In addition, level 5 argumentation represented more than two controversial points with several instances of dispute talk. In levels 4 and 5, the preservice teachers became actively engaged in communication, inquiry self with others, managing vulnerability and negotiation.
