  • 학문은 다양한 이론적 배경을 토대로 시대적 환경에 적응하여 발전한다. 즉, 서로의 영역을 공유하면서 새로운 이론을 창출하고 실제로 이를 응용하고 있는 것이다. 계량서지학, 계량과학학, 문헌과학학등으로 일컫고 있는 계량정보학은 문헌의 분석을 위해 수량학적 방법으로 적용하여 연구하는 학문으로, 활발히 연구되어 응용되고있는 분야는 텍스트검색시스템, OPACs, 비디오텍스시스템, 하이퍼텍스트시스템, CD-ROM, 온라인 정보서비스, 전자출판, 전자우편, 케이블 TV 등의 전자정보서비스 분야이다. 본 연구에서는 계량정보학의 사적변천과 연구영역, 그 응용과 실제를 고찰하였다.

Emerging Research Field Selection of Construction & Transportation Sectors using Scientometrics (과학계량학적 정보분석을 통한 건설교통분야의 유망연구영역도출)

  • With the development of methodologies, there are also the researches for the concrete item selection for selecting the future emerging researches and technologies. In this paper, we use scientometrics for that purpose in the sectors of construction and transportation. In our scientometric analysis, we use Scopus database, top 1% cited papers, bibliographic coupling, cosine coefficient, and hierarchical clustering and then carry additional experts verification on our results. We try to show the detailed process of scientometric analysis and its possibility as objective methodologies to select the future emerging researches and technologies.

  • This paper is done by studying two experimental cases which utilize the stochastic theory of Markov Chains, which is used for forecasting the future and by analyzing recent trend of studies. Since the study of Markov Chains is not applied to the Informetrics to a high degree in Korea. It is also proposed that there is a necessity for further study on Markov Chains and its activation.

  • 국가의 신성장 동력을 찾고 국가 연구개발과제를 기획 평가하는 것은 국가 경쟁력에 직결되는 것이라 할 수 있으며, 이것은 해당 기술에 대한 철저한 분석을 토대로 정확한 기술궤적 (technology trajectory)을 도출할 수 있을 때 효과적으로 수행될 수 있다. 기존에는 이러한 과정이 직관에 의한 판단이나 경험에 의존하는 경향이 높았으나, 최근에는 기술이 보유하고 있는 지식과 정보에 대한 정량적인 수치화, 즉 계량화를 기반으로 분석하려는 시도가 미국, 일본 등 선진국을 중심으로 이뤄지고 있으며, 계량정보분석은 과학기술정책 수립에 주요 방법론으로 자리잡고 있다. 그러나 계량정보분석에 대한 기존 연구들은 방법론 적용 및 활용 프로세스 등과 관련된 한계를 가지고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 이러한 한계를 극복하기 위하여 선진국의 계량정보분석방법론의 적용 사례를 바탕으로 방법론의 유형 및 활용영역을 분석함으로써 활용목적에 맞는 계량정보분석방법론 포트폴리오 구축하는 것을 목표로 한다. 이를 위해 과학기술정책 수립에 활용될 수 있는 계량정보분석방법론 적용 가이드라인을 제공하고 활용 목적에 맞는 적용 프로세스를 제시하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 유망 기술 영역과 핵심 기술을 탐색하고 모니터링하는 방향으로 계량정보분석방법론의 활용영역이 확장될 수 있는 토대가 되며, 기술 지능(technology intelligence)적인 정보를 창출하여 실질적인 업무 지원 역할을 할 수 있는 계기가 될 것이다.

Collaboration Networks and Document Networks in Informetrics Research from 2001 to 2011: Finding Influential Nations, Institutions, Documents (계량정보학분야의 협력연구 네트워크 및 문헌네트워크 분석 : 국가, 기관, 문헌단위 분석)

  • Since information scientists have begun trying to quantify significant research trends in scientific publications, '-metrics' research such as 'bibliometrics', 'scientometrics', 'informetrics', 'webometrics', and 'citation analysis' have been identified as crucial areas of information science. To illustrate the dynamic research activities in these areas, this study investigated the major contributors of '-metrics' research for the last decade at three levels: nations, institutions, and documents. '-metrics' literature of this study was obtained from the Science Citation Index for the years 2001-2011. In this analysis, we used Pathfinder network, PNNC algorithm, PageRank and several indicators based on h-index. In terms of international collaborations, USA and England were identified as major countries. At the institutional level, Katholieke University, Leuven and the University of Amsterdam in Europe and Indiana University and the Office of Naval Research in the USA have led co-research projects in informetrics areas. At the document level, Hirsch's h-index paper and Ingwersen's web impact factor paper were identified as the most influential work by two methods: PageRank and single paper h-index.

  • The field of bibliometrics and its applications are extensive. This paper deals with firstly the origin and development as well as definition of bibliometrics, secondly the research areas and basic laws in the field, thirdly the various techniques used in bibliometric analyses according to the fundamental bibliometric data : publications. references and citations, and producers of scientific publications, and finally the applications of bibliometric techniques, including those in librarianship and information management, and those in the study of science and scientists.

  • In this study, trends for five research areas of LED(Light Emitting Diode), OLED(Organic Light Emitting Diode), LCD(Liquid Crystal Display), PDP(Plasma Display Panel) and CRT(Cathode Ray Tube) are investigated using bibliometric analysis. The papers and patents citation data were extracted from Scopus and USPTO databases, respectively. We could figure out the research trends by the number of publications and citation information. We prospect the current interests and future trends by investigating the development process of the 5 research areas as function of time.

  • In todays environment in which scientific technologies are changing very fast than ever, companies have to monitor and search emerging technologies to gain competitiveness. Actually many nations try to do that. Most of them use Dephi approach based on experts review as a searching method. But experts review has been criticised for probability of inclination and its derivative problems in the sense that it is accomplished only by expert's subjectivity. To overcome such problems, we used Scientometric Method for identifying emerging technology that had been done by Delphi as a rule. We made three particular efforts in order to improve the Quality of the result. Firstly, we selected one alternative database between SCI and Scopus hoping to see evenly-distributing results in wide fields on the front burner. Secondly we used Fractional citation counting in counting citation number in the stage of linear regression analysis. Lastly, we verified Scientometric result with experts opinions to minimize probable errors in a Scientometric research. As a result, we derived 290 emerging technologies from Scientometric analysis with Scopus Database, and visualized them on 2-dimension map with data mining system named KnowledgeMatrix which was developed by KISTI.

  • 이 연구는 문헌정보학 학술지에 나타난 전문도서관의 연구동향과 특성을 계량적으로 분석하기 위하여, 관련된 연구논문 79편을 전수 조사하고 저자특성, 연구주제, 연구방법에 대해 정량분석하였다. 전문도서관 연구는 2000년 이후에 활발해지고 있으며, 주로 정보학, 도서관 운영, 참고정보서비스에 대한 연구가 많았다. 저자의 소속기관은 정부출연기관 직원과 대학 교수가 다수를 차지하며 공동연구가 늘어나고 있다. 또한 설문조사, 통계조사 등의 양적연구가 가장 많고 도서관 사례분석 및 사서 인터뷰를 통한 질적연구, 그리고 문헌연구의 순으로 나타난다.

  • Scientometrics means the metrics of science, and it plays a role in the measurement of scientists' activities by using research results like papers. Objective numerical values or indicators obtained by scientometric analysis may make a significant contribution to correct evaluation by excluding political or relationship bias or revealing significant researchers or their research fields that have been assessed relatively lower for their performance. In the period when the scale of technology was relatively large, such as for the development of heavy chemistry, it was possible to make a not-bad selection by an assessment made only with the intuition of the assessor. However, it is nearly impossible for experts with a narrow knowledge in a field to judge the direction of change correctly as the current science technology changes rapidly and tremendously. Even in an assessment of research performance of researchers or research institutions, only some notable researchers are able to attract attention owing to the Metthew effect, and the majority who have accumulated research results in depth are not able to receive reasonable research funding. Therefore, it might be natural that there is a growing need for assessment using scientometrics. The purpose of this research is to suggest some applicable scientometric techniques for an assessment of research performance to science and technology researchers and policy planners. In order to accomplish this, we used a frequency analysis of papers and its citations to assess the research performance of researchers, institutions, and countries for OLED technology as a case study. Furthermore, we position detailed technologies for OLED technology as arriving, growing, maturing, and declining technology by utilizing several network analysis techniques, make groups with researchers and institutions of same research interest. And we review the current international joint research of Korea, China, and Japan, who are in a competitive relationship. Also, at the end of each analysis result, we describe what kind of assessment should be available to Korean policy planners and research managers for such scientometric analysis results.
