  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of task-oriented approach based on upper limb coordinated movement on the ability of the Korean handwriting in children with developmental coordination disorder(DCD). Methods/Design : This randomized controlled trial designed as a pre-/post- test will compare the effectiveness of task-oriented approach and process-oriented approach on handwriting performance for children with DCD aged 5 to 10. These interventions consist of 10 training sessions and 4 assessment sessions over 7weeks. Children will be measured regard to handwriting legibility, speed and pre-handwriting skills including upper limb movement skills, visual perception and visual motor coordination. Conclusion : This is the first attempt to investigate effects of a task-oriented approach in children with DCD. The significance of this study is to provide the clinical evidences to apply the task-oriented approach improves the children's handwriting performance. Furthermore it will also present a more effective intervention for handwriting by figuring out each approach's impact on the improvement of pre-handwriting skills.

The Effects of Learning Methods on the Capability of Information Retrieval and Synthesis in Web (웹 환경에서의 학습 방법이 정보검색 및 정보종합 능력에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of learning methods on students' information retrieval and information synthesis capability in web. This is an experimental study comparing the two different learning methods as task-based learning and technic-based learning. The findings of this study were as follows: 1. The task-based learning was more effective than the technic-based learning in information achievements as information retrieval capability (t= 3.59, p〈.05). 2. In the 1st retrieval (recall ratio t=1.81 precision ratio t=.61) of Naver Korean Web Retrieval, there was no significant difference (p〉.05). In the 2nd retrieval (recall ratio t=2.93 precision ratio t=2.45) and 3rd retrieval (recall ratio t=3.48 precision ratio t= 2.50), the task-based group was more effective than the technic-based group (p〈.05). 3. There was no significant difference in students' information synthesis capability between the task-based learning and technic-based learning (t= 1.95, p〉.05). The findings of this study suggest that the task-based learning approach is more effective to improve students' information literacy, and that professionals should consider better instructional principles for the improvement of instructional quality.

  • In this study, the satisfaction level of the class between 'Content utilization and task performance class' and 'real-time interactive class' was compared and analyzed among the types of online classes conducted in elementary schools. The researchers conducted a study to compare and analyze the satisfaction level of classes in 'Content utilization and task performance class' and 'Real-time interactive class', and the research group selected 98 elementary school students in Hwaseong. As a result of the analysis, the satisfaction level of classes for "real-time interactive classes" was high. The satisfaction level of students' characteristics was analyzed, students who were not good at performing their task and those who were not good at concentrating on their classes were more satisfied with 'content utilization and task performance classes.'

  • We have investigated the effect of student-generated rubrics on learning motivation and achievement in performance evaluation of computer class. We studied the related previous researches and developed the procedure for performance evaluation using student-generated rubrics. According to thc developed procedure, the performance evaluation has been carried. Students have more clear understanding of their assignments and rubrics during the negotiation process. Student generated rubric has a positive effect on learning motivation and achievement.

Exploring Key Strategy Areas for Academic Library Development Planning in Korea (국내 대학도서관 진흥을 위한 주요 정책과제 개발 연구)

  • The aim of this study is to explore key strategy areas for academic library development planning in Korea. This study started with components of an academic library development plan that were identified in a literature review; those components included among others the major roles, functions, resources, and teaching and research support services of academic libraries. Upon interviewing library staff from 14 academic libraries, this study initially categorized those components into 4 overarching strategy areas and further subdivided them into 12 key components and 24 sub-components. That initial categorization was then reviewed by 6 scholars and practitioners, applying the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), by which this study analyzed the level of importance and priority of the strategy areas and various components. Based on the results, this study ultimately outlines 11 key components and 23 sub-components under the 4 strategy areas for academic libraries in Korea to take into consideration in their development planning.
