스월러를 이용한 가스터빈 엔진의 유동 및 분무 특성에 관한 수치적 연구

  • 각국의 공해 물질 배출량 규제가 엄격해지면서 저공해 가스터빈 엔진 개발의 필요성이 점점 대두되고 있다. 공해 물질 중 NOx는 고온에서 생성량이 급격히 증가하므로 배출량을 줄이기 위해서는 엔진 작동 온도를 낮추어야만 하고 이는 엔진 효율의 감소로 이어진다. 따라서 NOx를 줄이기 위해서는 작동 온도는 낮추지 않으면서 국부적인 고온 지역을 줄이고 연료가 고온 지역에 머무르는 시간을 감소하는 것이 가장 효과적이다. 이러한 방법으로 스월러를 장착하여 유입되는 공기에 스월을 주는 방법이 많이 연구되어 왔다.

Studies on Livestock Pollution Treatment and Energy Production (축산공해의 해결방안과 에너지 생산에 관한 연구)

  • Experiments on methane gas digestion were conducted to prevent livestock pollution and develop substitute energy. When about 30(w/w)% of sludge was added to cow feces, pig feces, and poultry feces and digested at 37$^{\circ}C$ for 20 days, methane gas produced per Kg of organic matter for cow feces, pig feces, poultry feces was 131, 248 and 235 l, respectively. pH decreased slightly at first but increased gradually afterwards during digestion period. When 20, 30, and 40(w/w)% of sludge were added to the mixture of cow feces (300g) and water (200g), the volumes of gas produced were 6.1, 14.5 and 13.4 l, respectively. Volume of methane gas produced from the mixture of cow feces and saw dust was much more than that from the mixture of cow feces and rice polishings. The contents of N, K, P for digestion residues were sufficient to be utilized as a fertilizer. When methane gas digestion was carried out with cow feces in a submersible pump digester the volume of methane gas produced per Kg of organic matter was 188 l. The price of total methane gas produced at this digestion was similar to that of the electric power consumed.

  • 현재 사용중인 내연기관, 가스터어빈, 로켓엔진과 발전소 및 주거용 난방에 이용되는 중 .소형 연소기에서는 고가의 액체연료들을 사용하고 있다. 이 액체연료를 고급동력으로 바꿀 때는 필연 적으로 연소라는 과정을 거치게 되는데 연소과정을 단계적으로 나누어 보면 첫째, 액체연료의 표면적을 크게 하여 연소를 촉진시키기 위한 연료의 미립화(atomization) 과정, 둘째, 미립화된 액적들의 증발 및 기체화한 연료와 공기와의 혼합으로 생성되는 가연성 혼합기 생성과정과 셋째, 가연성 혼합기의 점화, 연소 및 화학반응으로 인한 공해물질의 생성과정들로 대별된다.

  • 수소 연료는 공해물질을 전혀 배출하지 않고 수송용 및 연료전지 등에 널리 사용되므로 21세기의 궁극에너지로 인식되고 있다. 수소가 미래의 궁극적인 대체에너지원 또는 에너지 매체로 꼽히고 있는 것은 현재의 화석연료나 원자력 등이 따를 수 없는 장점을 갖고 있기 때문이다. 또한 수소는 연소시 극소량의 질소가 생성되는 것을 제외하고는 공해물질이 배출되지 않으며, 직접 연소를 위한 연료 또는 연료전지 등의 연료로 사용이 간편하다. 그러나, 기존의 수소제조 기술은 화석연료 중의 탄소 성분을 물과 반응시켜 수소로 만들기 때문에 상당량의 에너지가 필요하고 이 반응은 흡열반응이기 때문에 탄소 성분을 가스화 시키기 위해서는 1300K 이상의 고온과 상당한 반응기 용량이 요구된다.(중략)

  • The combustion characteristics of DI Diesel engine using turbocharging and EGR are numerically studied. Computations are carried out for the wide range of trubochyarged pressures, EGR ratios, and Ar/He dilution. Numerical results indicate that the Ar/He dilution in the intake gas significantly influence the engine performance, the spray combustion process, and the pollutant formation.

  • The present study is mainly aiming at numerically analyzing the combustion and emission characteristics of the diesel spray in a high-pressure environment. Computations are peformed for the peak chamber pressure with range from 4.08 MPa to 162 MPa. Numerical results indicate that the pressure increase in combustion chamber significantly influences the mechanism for droplet dynamics and mixing characteristics, spray penetration autoignition, flame lift-on height and the propagation or fuel vapor and flame. By increasing the ratio or the ambient density to injected liquid density, the fuel-air mixing rates and the burning rates increase and the $NO_x/soot$ emission level decreases.

  • Coal is the most abundant energy source and deposited in every area of world. Combustion process with lower efficiency has been mainly used. Therefore, implementation of more efficient technologies, involving gasification, combined cycles and fuel cells, would be a key issue in the plans for more efficient power generation. In these technologies, gasification has been studied for decades. However, coal gasification to high value combustible gas such as hydrogen and carbon monoxide is focused again due to high oil price. The gaseous product, called syngas, can be effectively utilized in a variety of ways ranging from electricity production to chemical industry (as feedstock). In this study, coal gasification with ultra high temperature steam has been performed. The effect of steam/carbon ratio on the produced gas concentrations, gasification rate and additional products like tar, ammonia and cyan compounds has been determined.

The Product properties of Bituminous Coal in Two-Stage Pyrolysis (유연탄의 이단 열분해에 따른 생성물의 특성)

  • Pyrolysis of bituminous coal has been carried out in a two-stage fixed bed reactor to produce high heating value gas(7000 kcal/N㎥) for industrial or town gas usage. The effects of coke catalyst, pyrolysis temperature (468∼565$^{\circ}C$), and catalytic cracking temperature (700∼850$^{\circ}C$) on the product gas properties from pyrolysis of bituminous coal have been determined. From pyrolysis of Dong Jin coal with coke, the carbon deposition on catalyst is found to be less than 5% of product tar and approximately 15% of total energy iii the parent coal can be recovered as high heating value gas. Oil composition in the product tar from the two-stage pyrolysis is higher than that from low-temperature pyrolysis. The tar produced from pyrolysis below 516$^{\circ}C$ can be easily catalytically cracked but, the tar produced above 565$^{\circ}C$ cannot be cracked easily with catalyst. From the product gas analysis, the catalytic cracking temperature should be maintained below 800$^{\circ}C$ since cracking speed of ethylene increases remarkably with the cracking temperature above 800$^{\circ}C$.

  • An investigation of the effects of the size of mixing region determined by changing the position of fuel injection has been carried out. Measurements were made: the distribution of temperature and concentration profiles of the stable gas species, nitrogen oxide and total hydrocarbon in the flames. The results of this investigation show that variations of the size of mixing region produce major changes to the three type flow fields which significantly influence pollutant (NO, CO and THC) formation and energy release.

  • Several methods that have been used to manage a degasing process in recent years, such as an injection method that uses aluminum molten metal powder and chemicals, and the input method that supplies argon and nitrogen, or chlorine gas using a gas blow-tube. On the other hand, these methods have some problems, and it is a difficult process to handle pollution due to the production of considerable toxic gases, such as chlorine and fluoride gas, irregular effects, and lowering work efficiency due to the excessive processing time. The problems that are most fatal are the production of considerable sludge due to a reaction of aluminum molten metal with chemicals, loss of metals, and the decreasing life of refractory materials. To solve these problems, this study developed a technology that is related to continuous casting of molten aluminum metal and monolithic degasing apparatus.
