  • The present study compared the self report and parental report on the behavior problems of adolescents as a way to explore similarities and differences in the ways that adolescents and their parents conceptualize behavior problems of adolescents. Specifically, K-CBCL and YSR data from 3271 adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17 were subjected to factor analyses. Five factors;Depression/Anxiety/Withdrawal, Aggressiveness, Somatic Symptom, Disruptiveness, Attention Getting were obtained from the YSR data with the first factor, Depression/Anxiety/Withdrawal explaining 14.23% of the total variance. K-CBCL data yielded somewhat different factor structure with Aggression/Delinquency as the first factor explaining 14.08% of the total variance, followed by Somatic Symptoms, Social Withdrawal, Disruptiveness, and Depression/Anxiety. Total K-CBCL and YSR score showed a moderate correlation(r=.51), and correlation between pairs of comparable K-CBCL and YSR factor scores were also moderate. Regression analyses of the variables contributing to the total problem score of the K-CBCL and YSR suggested that social competence and academic achievement are two important sources of influence on the evaluation of behavior problems both in self-report and parental report. However, externalizing problems such as aggressiveness/delinquency appeared to be more salient for parents, while adolescents themselves appeared to be more concerned with internalizing problems such as depression/anxiety. Implications of these subtle differences for assessment of adolescent behavior problems were discussed.

  • This study was a comparative analysis by youth's internet addiction types. Distribution of internet addiction types, relative influence of risk and protective factors in each addiction type, and common and different risk and protective factors among the internet addiction types were investigated. And, the level of youth's mental health and the effect of internet to youth's mental health were identified. A total of 1,830 youth were surveyed, and the findings were as below: Firstly, 62.3% of the surveyed youth were addicted to internet. In detail, 15.9% had internet game addiction and 10.9% had internet sex addiction. Secondly, in all types of internet addiction, the risk factors gave severer influence than the protective factors did, and the protective factors gave compensation effect to each type of addiction. Thirdly, among the internet addiction types, the common risk factors were depression, aggression, parents' control, and friends' influence, while the protective factor was self control. Among the internet addiction types, a different risk factor was PC access, and the different protective factors included self-efficacy, teacher's support, friend's support, and parents' relationship. Fourthly, in all the three addiction pattern, the addicted adolescents had experienced more psychological symptoms than general internet users had. Finally, in the aspects of psychiatric symptoms, sex addiction gave the worst negative effect, and then game addiction, and internet addiction came in order. And the adolescents who had the higher degree of addiction were more likely to experience psychiatric symptoms.

  • In an attempt to study sex differences in child behavior disorders, 834 clinic-refered children(582 boys and 252 girls) between the ages of 6 to 11 were assessed using CBCL parental form and the data were factor analysed to form empirically derived syndromes for each sex. The analyses yielded eight behavior disorder syndromes for boys and ten, for girls. Six syndromes(aggressive, hyperactive, delinquent, social withdrawal, emotional lability, physical complaints) were found in both sexes while obsessive, depressive and psychotic syndromes were organized differently in boys and girls. There were also considerable differences in item composition of the six syndromes common to box sexes, suggesting that clinical features of common behavior disorders such as aggression and hyperactiveity might be different for boys and girls despite their apparent similarity. The results were discussed in terms of culturally shared attitudes and beliefs concerning sex differences in behaviors.

  • The objectives of this study were to analyze change in life satisfaction of Korean elderly, to find determinants of it in an aging society, and to suggest ways of improving their life satisfaction. Data used in this study were from 1994, 2004, 2008 national survey results on the elderly life conditions and welfare need conducted by the Korea Institute for Health Social Affairs and Keimyung University, which were collected from 1,371, 3,278, 3,009 elderly people aged 65 and over who answered regarding their life satisfaction each year. Data were analyzed by multiple regression method. The results of analysis showed that the general life satisfaction of Koreans elderly is higher than average and is decreasing year after year. Determinants of life satisfaction for Korean elderly can be divided in two factors: common factors(i.e. subjective economic and health conditions) and flexible factors(i.e. marital status, employment status, perceptions of aging). Implications for designing services and service systems for elderly families were discussed.

  • Recently the importance of operational risk is gradually increasing in risk management of financial institute. Especially the service interruption caused by system failure can lead to customer complaints, decrease of profit and customer secession. Thus, financial industry makes diverse effort to minimize the impact caused by the system failure of IT application. Common modules are used in IT system in financial industry to exclude redundant development and to use the system efficiently. However, when a failure in common module is occurred, the risk that affects all the tasks using the common module exists. In this study, the damage affected by a failure in application program is prevented separating common module which has a large risk by task in the perspective of IT operational risk. In order to cope with damage, the research on the factors related to common module is conducted and proposes the separating common module standard for decrease of operational risk of the financial IT.

  • This paper analyzes determinants of tourist consumption in the case of 2013 Gangneung Dano Festival, based on the multiple regression model. We set 12 determinants of consumption such as income as explanatory variables and consumption expenditure as a dependent variable. Also Five kinds of categorical consumptions are estimated. Main results are the followings. First, income is the most important factor and shows positive effect in tourist consumption. Second, age and metropolitan area influence consumption positively. Third number of participating day and length of stay also influence consumption positively. Fourth, number of accompanying person shows negative effect on consumption. Fifth, male, married person, and lodge with own expense influence consumption positively. Finally, categorical consumption has its specific determinants distinct from common factors This paper can be applied to invent and implement efficient strategies for development in regional economies and tour industries.
