  • The aim of this study is to establish a new QC method that can simultaneously evaluate the resolution of the x/y plane and the z-axis by producing a phantom that can reflect exposure and reconstruction parameter of MDCT system. It was used with Aquilion ONE(Cannon Medical System, Otawara, Japan), and the examination was scanned using of 120 kV, 260 mA, and the D-FOV of 300 mm2. It produced new SSP phantom modules in which two aluminum plates inclined at 45° to a vertical axis and a transverse axis to evaluate high contrast resolution of x/y plane and z axis. And it changed factors such as the algorithm, distance from gantry iso-center. All images were reconstructed in five steps from 0.6 mm to 10.0 mm slice thickness to measure resolution of x/y plane and z-axis. The image data measured FWHM and FWTM using Profile tool of Aquarius iNtusion Edition ver. 4.4.13 P6 software(Terarecon, California, USA), and analysed SPQI and signal intensity by ImageJ program(v1.53n, National Institutes of Health, USA). It decreased by 4.09~11.99%, 4.12~35.52%, and 4.70~37.64% in slice thickness of 2.5 mm, 5.0 mm, and 10.0 mm for evaluating the high contrast resolution of x/y plane according to distance from gantry iso-center. Therefore, the high contrast resolution of the x/y plane decreased when the distance from the iso-center increased or the slice thickness increased. Additionally, the slice thicknesses of 2.5 mm, 5.0 mm, and 10.0 mm with a high algorithm increased 74.83, 15.18 and 81.25%. The FWHM was almost constant on the measured SSP graph for evaluating the accuracy of slice thickness which represents the resolution of x/y plane and z-axis, but it was measured to be higher than the nominal slice thickness set by user. The FWHM and FWTM of z-axis with axial scan mode tended to increase significantly as the distance increased from gantry iso-center than the helical mode. Particularly, the thinner slice thickness that increased error range compare with the nominal slice thickness. The SPQI increased with thick slice thickness, and that was closer to 90% in the helical scan than the axial scan. In conclusion, by producing a phantom suitable for MDCT detectors and capable of quantitative resolution evaluation, it can be used as a specific method in the management of research quality and management of outdated equipment. Thus, it is expected to contribute greatly to the discrimination of lesions in the field of CT imaging.

  • In this study, inelastic buckling strength of HSA800 steel columns were tested to investigate the applicability of current column curve (KBC2009, 2010 AISC-LRFD) to HSA800 steel. Key test variables included width-thickness ratio, plate-edge restraints, and column slenderness ratio. Specimens made of ordinary steel (SM490) were also tested for comparison purposes. All the concentrically loaded HSA800 specimens exhibited sufficient buckling strength compared to the current column curve, but some of SM490 specimens showed understrength. This difference can be explained by the lower residual stress present in HSA800 specimens.

  • The sectional dimensions and initial crookedness of the RHS(rectangular hollow section, ${\boxe}-75{\times}75{\times}3.2,\;{\boxe}-100{\times}100{\times}4.2,\;{\boxe}-125{\times}125{\times}6.0$) were measured. The axial compressive strength tests for columns with slenderness $46{\sim}84$ were performed as well as stub tests and tensile tests. FEM analysis was also used. The measurement shows that the errors of sectional dimensions are negligible. For the column length corresponding to ${\lambda}=100$, the initial crookedness with the 2.5% probability estimated from the measured results is 1/490, 1/1121 1/1395 for each section respectively. The yield strengths obtained from tensile test are higher than the specified minimum value by more than 30%. The column test shows that the maximum axial resistances are almost same as, or a little higher than the FEM results and the specified strength curves of AISC Specification and Eurocode, when the maximum strengths from the stub tests are used as the yield strength of the steel. But the test results show much higher column strength than those specified in the Standard and Code, when the specified minimum yield strength of the steel is used.

  • This paper presents experimental and analytical research results to predict nonlinear flexural behavior of corroded reinforced concrete beams. For this purpose, a series of test and an analytical simulation using the Maaddawy's model were carried. Test specimens of total 12 RC beams were placed in accelerated corrosion status using salt water spray test chamber for 5 months and 10 months, after they were preloaded up to 30% and 60% of the maximum load corresponding to nominal flexural strength. The test results showed that flexural strength and ductility decreased to 5.4% and 43% at the most respectively due to breakdown of bond at the steel-concrete interface. Comparative study between the analytical predictions and the experimental results showed that the Maaddawy's model can be applied to predict a real corroded RC flexural members.

  • In this study, finite element analysis was carried out through the finite element analysis program (ANSYS) to investigate the fire resistance of composite columns in fire. Transient heat transfer analysis and static structural analysis were performed according to ASTM E 119 heating curve and axial force ratio 0.7, 0.6, 0.5 by applying stress-strain curves according to temperature, and loading heating experiments were carried out under the same conditions. In addition, the nominal compressive strength of the composite column according to the heating time according to the standard(Eurocode 4) was calculated and expressed as the axial force ratio and compared with the analytical and experimental values. Through the analysis, As a result of finite element analysis, the fire resistance time was 180 minutes and similar value to the experimental value was obtained, whereas the fire resistance time 150 minutes and 60 minutes were derived from the axial force ratios 0.6 and 0.7. In addition, it was confirmed that the fire resistance time according to the axial force ratio calculated according to the reference equation (Eurocode 4) was lower than the actual experimental value. However, it was confirmed that the standard(Eurocode 4) was higher than the experimental value at the axial force ratio of 0.7. Accordingly, it is possible to confirm the fire resistance characteristics(time-axial force ratio relationship) of the SRC column at high axial force, and to use the experimental and anaylsis data of the SRC column as the data for verification based on Eurocode.

  • Three small scale hollow circular reinforced concrete columns with aspect ratio 4.5 were tested under cyclic lateral load with constant axial load. Diameter of section is 400 mm, hollow diameter is 200 mm. The selected test variable is transverse steel ratio. Volumetric ratios of spirals of all the columns are 0.302~0.604% in the plastic hinge region. It corresponds to 45.9~91.8% of the minimum requirement of confining steel by Korean Bridge Design Specifications, which represent existing columns not designed by the current seismic design specifications or designed by seismic concept. The longitudinal steel ratio is 2.017%. The axial load ratio is 7%. This paper describes mainly crack behavior, load-displacement hysteresis loop, seismic performance such as equivalent damping ratio, residual displacement and effective stiffness and flexural over-strength of circular reinforced concrete bridge columns with respect to test variable. The regulation of flexural over-strength is adopted by Korea Bridge Design Specifications (Limited state design, 2012). The test results are compared with nominal strength, result of nonlinear moment-curvature analysis and the design specifications such as AASHTO LRFD and Korea Bridge Design Specifications(Limited state design).
