Market Efficiency in Real-time : Evidence from the Korea Stock Exchange (한국유가증권시장의 실시간 정보 효율성 검증)

  • In this article we examine a unique data set of intraday fair disclosure(FD) releases to shed light on market efficiency within the trading day. Specifically, this paper analyze the response of stock prices on fair disclosure disseminated in real-time through KIND(Korea Investor's Network for Disclosure) on Korea stock exchange during the period from January 2003 to September 2004. We find that the prices of stock experiences a statistically and economically significant increase beginning seconds after the fair disclosure is initially announced and lasting approximately two minutes. The stock price responds more strongly to fair disclosure on smaller firm but the response to fair disclosure on the largest firm stock is more gradual, lasting five minutes. We also examine the profitability of a short-term trading strategy based on dissemination of fair disclosure. After controlling for trading costs we find that trader who execute a trade following initial disclosure generate negative profits, but trader buying stock before initial disclosure realize statistically significant positive profit after two minute of disclosure. Summarizing overall results, our evidence supports that security prices on Korea stock exchange reflects all available information within two minutes and the Korea stock market is semi-strongly efficient enough that a trader cannot generate profits based on widely disseminated news unless he acts almost immediately.

  • This research investigates the feasibility of ceramic specimens made from Primary clay and Red Hwangto with MSWI fly ash. Specimens preduced by mix-design maximum 20 wt% MSWI fly ash were analysed by SEM, UTM, ICP, etc. As a result of measurement,$P_{10}$ specimen was improved on bending strength and $R_5$ specimen was improved on compressive and bending strength. Also amount of extracted heavy metal was suitable for regulatory limits. This indicates that MSWI fly ash is indeed suitable for the partial replacement of ceramic materials in bricks.

  • 기업의 구조조정을 통한 국가경쟁력 향상을 위하여 최근 결합재무제표의 도입, 지배구조의 선진화, 외국인에 대한 적대적 M&A 허용 등이 진행됨에 따라 출자총액제한제도를 폐지하고 계열회사간의 채무보증을 조기에 해소하기 위해 신규채무보증을 금지하고 기존 채무보증은 2000년 3월말까지 완전해소토록 하는 내용을 주요 골자로 하는 공정거래법 제6차 개정안이 지난 1998년 2월 15일 제188회 임시국회에서 통과됐다. 이번에 개정된 공정거래법은 공시한 날부터 시행되는 출자총액의 제한 부분을 제외하고는 1998년 4월 1일부터 시행된다.

  • 재정경제부, 공정거래위원회 등 주요 경제부처는 지난 8월 25일(수) 정$\cdot$재계 간담회를 개최하고 동 간담회에서의 합의내용을 실천하기 위한 재벌개혁 세부방안을 확정 발표했다. 동 재벌개혁 후속방안은 동 간담회에서 정부와 재계가 합의한 투명한 기업경영지배구조 정착과 순환출자 및 부당내부거래의 억제, 변칙적인 부의 세습 차단 및 제2금융권 지배방지 등 정부의 재벌개혁 3원칙을 구체화하는 데 초점을 맞추고 있다. 정부는 무엇보다 재벌기업의 자기자본대비 출자총액한도를 매우 엄격하게 규정, 동 제도를 부활함으로써 순환출자를 줄이도록 유도하기로 했다.

  • 대규모 기업집단의 계열사 간 내부거래에 대한 공시 범위 확대 등을 내용으로 하는 공정거래법시행령 개정(안)이 지난 9월 26일 입법예고(기간: 9월 26일~10월 17일)되었다. 이밖에도 기업결합의 사전신고 범위를 확대하고 상습 법위반 사업자에 대한 자진신고 감면 제한 근거조항 마련 등 시행령 운용과정에서 나타난 미비점을 보완했다. 이번 개정안은 법제처 심사 및 차관회의 국무회의 등 관련 절치를 거쳐 확정 공포되며 금년 12월 말부터 시행될 예정이다.

A Conversion factor of Oriental Medicine based on the publicly available information (공시된 자료를 이용한 한의원 환산지수 연구)

  • This study aims to derive the conversion factor of oriental medicine based on the publicly available information to overcome the problem of the small sample size and reliability of cost analysis which spend much data gathering expense in spite of small sample. This study confirms the fairness and validity of results of analysis by using the publicly available information composed of large sample. Because of the large variation of the conversion factor depending on the types of data and methodologies, it is required to use the analysis using publicly available information in company with the cost analysis. build the health data system for cost analysis. For more reasonable conversion factor, it is urgent to construct the healthcare data system including the individual oriental medicine office.

Physical Properties of Polymer Impregnated Concrete Prepared using Microwave Radiation (Microwave Radiation을 이용하여 제조된 고분자 함침 콘크리트의 물리적 특성)

  • Polymer Impregnated Concrete (PIC) prepared from Ordinary Portland Cement Concrete (OPC) has excellent mechanical properties as well as physico-chemical properties. For the manufacturing of PIC, drying process of basis concrete (precast concrete), impregnation process with evacuation system and ultrasonic vibration system, polymerization process of monomers are essential. Modified microwave reactor using magnetron was used for polymerization of styrene/MMA (1 : 1) impregnated in pore volume of basis concrete. From the experimental results, the degree of polymerization increased up to 30% and more homogeneous PIC was prepared as compared to the conventional thermal method. Also the mechanical strengths increased more than 400% ($800{\sim}1200kg_f/cm^2$) and the resistance for corrosion to acids was improved up to 25%. AIBN and BPO as initiators for polymerization were used at the concentration less than 1%. Optimum conditions for polymerization were obtained at the frequency of microwave of 400 W and 2450 MHz, and optimum reaction temperature was $120^{\circ}C$ at an atmospheric pressure.
