Safe plants are maintained by the systematic identification of potential hazards. Various hazard evaluation methods have been developed in pursuit of safe plants. Recently, much efforts has been made for the automation of hazard evaluation system by introducing expert system to get rid of weak points of the conventional hazard evaluation methods. HAZOP study is recognized as one of the most systematic and logical hazard evaluation methods. However, it has several disadvantages; experts should participate simultaneously, the detailed study is time-consuming, and the quality of the results largely depends on the quality of the experts. Therefore, the automation of HAZOP Study is highly beneficial for reducing the required time and obtaining the consistent evaluation results. In this study, a framework for the automation of HAZOP study is suggested. Based on the suggested framework, HAxSYM, an expert system to automate HAZOP study, has been developed. The case study validates the performance of the developed system, and the results are compared with the results from the conventional HAZOP study.
This study aims to analyze the impact of cement industry on region change. For this study Maepo-Eub was selected as study area, where three cement factories are located. The data for analysis were obtained from interviews, questionaire surveys and the employee list of each cement factory. The analytic procedures for this study are as follows: 1) The change of regional employment was analyzed by development was industry in terms of the permanent address, education level, occupational status of the employee. 2) The degree of population growth are analyzed by developmental staae of the industry. Some conclusions from this study follows: 1) As these cement factories were built at Maepo in the 1960's, there were plenty of employment opportunities. Thus many technicians and workers flooded in Maepo-Eub. in the 1970's with the expansion of production facilities therewere much more immigrants to the industrial region, while there were outflow in the neighboring rural areas. In the 1980's the opportunity for the employment of cement factories have been decreased due to the introduction of the automation processes and larger, sized machines. Among the employee of three cement factories the native of Chungcheongbukdo (65%; in them Danyang 52%, Jecheon 32%) is dominant, the second is from Kangwon-do (13%), and the third is from Kyungsangbuk-do (11%) adjacent to Chungcheongbuk-do. It means that there are more employment opportunity in the near places of cement factories. 2) In the period of 1960's study area had experineed rapid social increase in population by the development of cement industry. That is, cement industries created new job opportunities and attracted large population concentration into this area. In the period of 1970's the population of the industrial region have increased continuously, while the population of neighboring rural areas have decreased. In the period of 1980's the population of Maepo decreased steadily because of decrease of labour forces through automation and commuting. Thus in the early stage of idustrial development large population concentrated in the neighboring villages of cement factories, and formed residential areas, commercial areas and service areas. As agricultural and was encroached, rural people left their regions to live in the more convenient suburbs. 3) People engaged in cement industry think that cement industry has a favorable influence on regional development, such as creating job opportunity, raising income level, developing business and service sector, and leading high economic growth. While farmers and some people think that cement industries as a pollution causing factories have a harmful influence on regional development, sucha as injuring the crops, causing environmental pollution, and being harmful to health. If pollution problems are solved, I think Maepo will play an important role as a regional center which can offer employment opportunity, business and service function to pheripheral rural areas, and raise a income level.
Recently, it is difficult to produce uniform scions and rootstocks with high quality in a greenhouse due to weather extremes. The closed transplant production system is useful for producing scions and rootstocks with desirable morphological characteristics by environment control regardless of weather outside. In this study, we investigated transpiration rates and growth of cucumber and tomato scions and rootstocks grown under different light intensity conditions for precise irrigation control in a closed transplant production system. Hanging system to measure continuously the weight of plug tray consisting of seedlings and substrate with load-cell was installed in each growing bed. Using this system, we confirmed initial wilting point of cucumber and tomato seedlings, and conducted subirrigation when moisture content of substrate was not below 50%. The irrigation time of cucumber scions and rootstocks were 7 and 6 days after sowing, respectively. In tomato scions and rootstocks grown under PPF (photosynthetic photon flux) 300 μmol·m-2·s-1, the irrigation time were 5, 8, 11, and 13 days after sowing. Increasing light intensity increased transpiration rates and differences of transpiration rates by light intensity was higher in tomato seedlings. The growth of cucumber and tomato seedlings was promoted by increasing light intensity, especially, hypocotyl elongation and stem thickening was affected by light intensity. Cumulative transpiration rate of plug tray in cucumber and tomato seedlings was increased by increasing light intensity, and daily transpiration rate per seedling was regressed by 1st-order linear equation with high correlation coefficient. Estimation of transpiration rates by weighing continuously plug tray of vegetable seedlings can be useful to control more accurately irrigation schedule in a closed transplant production system.

The Internet of Things refers to a space-of-things connection network configured to allow things with built-in sensors and communication functions to interact with people and other things, regardless of the restriction of place or time.IoT is a network developed for the purpose of services for human convenience, but the scope of its use is expanding across industries such as power transmission, energy management, and factory automation. However, the communication protocol of IoT, MQTT, is a lightweight message transmission protocol based on the push technology and has a security vulnerability, and this suggests that there are risks such as personal information infringement or industrial information leakage. To solve this problem, we designed a synchronous MQTT security channel that creates a secure channel by using the characteristic that different chaotic dynamical systems are synchronized with arbitrary values in the lightweight message transmission MQTT protocol. The communication channel we designed is a method of transmitting information to the noise channel by using characteristics such as random number similarity of chaotic signals, sensitivity to initial value, and reproducibility of signals. The encryption method synchronized with the proposed key value is a method optimized for the lightweight message transmission protocol, and if applied to the MQTT of IoT, it is believed to be effective in creating a secure channel.

The proportion of rebar factory manufacturing which has been settled down in Korea recently seems to increase because of their strength such as high decreasing rate of rebar loss and manufacturing accuracy and the external factors such as an increase of downtown projects and a decrease of skilled workers. However, factory manufacturing using straight rebars causes a certain amount of rebar loss and an environmental problem including $CO_2$ emissions. To solve these problems, Bar in coil (BIC) has been introduced; however its application is very rare because it has not been produced so far in Korea and manufacturing machines of BIC are very expensive. Also, although BIC's application is expected to expand due to its strengths, few analysis of its application has been conducted. Therefore in this study, analysis of the BIC's characteristics and the influence to the rebar manufacturing industry are conducted for the advancement of rebar work as a basic research. To achieve this, inquiry on the present condition of rebar manufacturing industry in Korea is implemented. Then, the validation of BIC's applications by aspects of industry and the analysis of stakeholders' economical profit and loss are conducted.

Recently, with the rapid development of factory automation and logistics system, a few workers were able to manage the broad workplace such as large vessels and warehouse. To estimate the exact location of these workers in the conventional wireless indoor localization systems, three or more fixed nodes are generally used to recognize the location of a mobile node consisting of a single node. However, these methods are inefficient in terms of node deployment because the broad workplace requires a lot of fixed nodes compared to workers(mobile nodes). Therefore, to efficiently deploy fixed nodes in these environments that need a few workers, this paper presents a novel estimation algorithm which can reduce the number of fixed nodes by efficiently recognizing the relative coordinates of two fixed nodes through a mobile node composed of three nodes. Also, to minimize the distance errors between mobile node and fixed node, rounding estimation(RE) technique is proposed. Experimental results show that the error rate of localization is improved, by using proposed RE technique, 90.9% compared to conventional trilateration in the free space. In addition, despite the number of fixed nodes can be reduced by up to 50% in the indoor free space, the proposed estimation algorithm recognizes precise location which has average error of 0.15m.

For extrusion processes in the process industry, the need to build smart factories is increasing. However, in most extrusion production sites, the production method is continuous, and because the properties of the data are undeed, it is difficult to process the data. In order to solve this problem, we present a methodology utilizing a near field communication (NFC) sensor rather than water-based data entry. To this end, a wireless network environment was built, and a data management method was designed. A non-contact NFC method was studied for the production performance-data input method, and an analysis method was implemented using the pivot function of the Excel program. As a result, data input using NFC was automated, obtaining a quantitative effect from reducing the operator's data processing time. In addition, using the input data, we present a case where a bottleneck is improved due to quality problems.
Smart factory environments and digital twin environments are established, and today's factories accumulate vast amounts of production data and are managed in real time as visualized results suitable for user convenience. Production simulation techniques are in the spotlight as a way to prevent delays in delivery and predict factory volatility in situations where production schedule planning becomes difficult due to the diversification of production products. With the development of the digital twin environment, new packages are developed and functions of existing packages are updated, making it difficult for users to make decisions on which packages to use to develop simulations. Therefore, in this study, the concept of Discrete Event Simulation (DES) performed based on discrete events is defined, and the characteristics of various simulation packages were compared and analyzed. To this end, studies that solved real problems using discrete event simulation software for 10 years were analyzed, and three types of software used by the majority were identified. In addition, each package was classified by simulation technique, type of industry, subject of simulation, country of use, etc., and analysis results on the characteristics and usage of DES software were provided. The results of this study provide a basis for selection to companies and users who have difficulty in selecting discrete event simulation package in the future, and it is judged that they will be used as basic data.

The objective of this study was to analyze the microbial populations in the raw ingredients of kimchi and their changes during an automated commercial manufacturing process. High population numbers of total aerobic bacteria, lactic acid bacteria, Leuconostoc sp., and yeast were detected in garlic, ginger, red pepper powder and this result revealed that these ingredients were the major source of microbials in kimchi. Additionally, during the salting process of Chinese cabbage, rapid microbial growth was observed and the consecutive washing process was determined to be ineffective, lowering the microbial count by only one log reduction. Yeast was also detected in various ingredients. These results strongly suggest that, in order to lower the microbial population numbers in kimchi, the side-ingredients and salting process should be subjected to the appropriate sanitization or sterilization processes at the HACCP level. Beside, treatment of salted Chinese cabbage with sodium hypochlorite solutions after the salting step is recommended. To inhibit yeast growth, appropriate chemical treatment and approval of additive uses to control microbials should be considered. These experimental results and suggestions will be used to improve the kimchi manufacturing process in factories.

With the development of economy and improving of people's living standards, people dietary needs will be achieved from subsistence to high nutrition and from high nutrition to healthy transformation. Mushroom as a kind of highly nutritious, low fat, rich vitamin food has a great interest among the people. This makes the mushroom into a new sunrise industry and it gradually from pure manual cultivation develops toward the fully automatic factory. In the process of mushroom factory production, regulation of environmental factors directly affects the yield and quality of mushroom. In related to the methods of mushroom cultivation, the recent technologies apply the new technology such as sensors and IT convergence services. And then cultivating mushroom is managed effectively. This paper in order to solve the above problems and construct an effective mushroom growth environment using technology such as humidity sensor construct an environment that can automatically adjust the humidity. This environment has important significance to improve the level of automation mushroom production, increase yield per unit area and quality of mushroom, increase economic efficiency of mushroom production, and enhance the competitiveness of mushroom production.
