Surface Composition Change of UV/Ozone Modified Polypropylene (UV/오존에 의해 개질된 폴리프로필렌의 표면 조성 변화)

  • Polypropylene is oxidized with UV/ozone as a function of UV treatment time and ozone flow rate and its surface characteristics are investigated using contart angle measurements and XPS. The aging behavior of oxidized surface is investigated under air, water and ethylene glycol as the aging media. Adhesion strength is also investigated using a lap shear test. Polar surface energy increases with increasing UV/ozone treatment time as well as ozone flow rate. No polar surface energy change is observed under water aging, while under air aging it decreases significantly within 2-3 days and reaches the close value as that of the untreated PP. Adhesion strength increases with increasing UV/ozone treatment time as well as ozone flow rate.

  • A numerical investigation is made on the effects of the location and shape of the front wall of an OWC(Oscillating Water Column) chamber on the hydroelastic response of a VLFS. Most of the studies on the effects of an OWC chamber on the response of a VLFS have assumed the location of the OWC chamber to be at the front of the VLFS. In the present study, an OWC-chamber is introduced at an arbitrary position in relation to a VLFS to determine the influence of the location and shape of the OWC chamber on the hydroelastic response of the VLFS. A finite element method is adopted as a numerical scheme for the fluid domain. or the finite element method, combined with a mode superposition method, is applied in order to consider the change of mass and stiffness The OWC chamber in a piecewise constant manner. or the facilitated anefficient analysis of The hydroelastic response of the VLFS, as well as the easy modeling of different shape and material properties for the structure. Reduction of hydroelastic response of the VLFS is investigated for various locations and front wall shapes of the owe chamber.

  • 일반적으로 집이나 건물이 지어진 후 약 2~3년이 지나면 수도관 내부에는 물때, 미생물, 유기화합물질 등이 혼합되어 슬라임(slime)이 발생하며, 노후화되어 슬러지(sludge) 형태로 누적 되거나 스케일(scale)이 발생하고 있다. 이러한 이물질의 누적으로 인하여 수도관이 손상되거나, 여러 가지 원인으로 인하여 교체해야하는 상황이 발생할 수 있다. 이러한 이유로 저수조나 공용관의 경우에는 정기적으로 세척하고 있으며, 일반 가정 내의 수도관 역시 정기적인 관리가 필요하다고 볼 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 적절한 배관청소기의 제어를 위하여 물과 압축공기의 배합을 적절하게 제어하도록 하여 배관내부의 이물질을 제거할 수 있는 배관청소시스템을 설계하고자 하며, 밸브조절 및 물의 공급시간과 압축공기의 유입시간에 대한 적절한 제어를 원격지에서 제어할 수 있도록 배관청소시스템을 개발하여 성능에 관한 평가와 사업화 가능성을 제시하고자 한다.

  • 미세플라스틱이 물 환경으로 배출되는 주요 경로로는 하수처리장 방류수와 강우유출수가 있다. 하수처리장 및 유역에서 배출된 미세플라스틱은 하천과 하구역을 거쳐 해양과 같은 대규모 수역으로 이동하는데, 이 과정에서 해양뿐만 아니라 담수호, 저수지 등과 같은 공공수역에도 미세플라스틱이 지속적으로 축적되고 있다. 특히 강우유출수에 포함된 미세플라스틱은 적절한 처리 과정 없이 하천으로 유입되는 경우가 많아 공공수역 내 미세플라스틱 저감 기술의 필요성이 증가하고 있다. 그러나 미세플라스틱 관련 기존 연구는 미세플라스틱의 분포 등 현황에 대한 모니터링 및 환경위해성과 관련한 것이 대부분이며, 미세플라스틱 저감기술 관련 연구 또한 일부 정수처리 및 하수처리 공정을 대상으로 하는 초기 단계의 연구가 진행되고 있을 뿐 공공수역에서의 미세플라스틱 저감기술 개발 관련 연구는 전무한 실정이다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 기존의 물리·화학적 수처리 공정인 용존공기부상법(Dissolved Air Flotation, DAF)에 물의 전기분해 시발생하는 브라운가스를 활용하여 응집된 물질을 빠르게 부상시켜 수체 내 오염물질을 제거할 수 있는 기술을 통해 수체 내 미세플라스틱 저감효과를 분석하였다. 또한, 해당 기술을 공공수역인 저수지에 적용하여 오염물질과 함께 미세플라스틱을 제거할 수 있는지 검토하였다.

  • In this article, we report the fabrication and characterization of carbon sphere/$Fe_3O_4$ nanocomposite for Li/air batteries. $Fe_3O_4$ nanoparticles are dispersed homogeneously on the surface of carbon spheres in an attempt to enhance the low conductivity of oxide catalyst ($Fe_3O_4$). The carbon sphere/$Fe_3O_4$ nanocomposite could offer wide surface area of $Fe_3O_4$ and increased carbon/catalyst contact area, which lead to enhanced catalytic activity. The electrode employing carbon sphere/$Fe_3O_4$ nanocomposite presented relatively low overpotential and stable cyclic performance compared with the electrode employing carbon sphere.

  • Due to the latest industrial flow comes mainly switch to high-tech industries, combustible metals as Al, Mg, Li, Zn more require to use for the aircraft, car, cell phones, electronics and others. As a result, Increasing the processing of combustible metals due to increase in amount of combustible metals giving rise dust explosions also. Most Explosions caused by combustible metal dust, occurred in air cleaning device of local exhaust ventilation to capture and store the combustible dust. Therefore, this study was conducted to present and analyze technically that deformation and rupture shape of air cleaning device structure by Finite Element Analysis(FEA) rather than a simple prediction, in case of explosion occurs in an air cleaning device.

  • The fuel cell technology has been considered as a technology to reduce greenhouse gases emission from a ship. In this research, internal reforming 500kW solid oxide fuel cell system fueled by methane for a ship were developed. Characteristics of gas temperature, stack power and system efficiency depending on the air flow rate, $CH_4$ flow rate, $H_2O$ flow rate, and system operation pressure are evaluated. As a result, air and $CH_4$ flow rate directly affect the temperature of inlet and outlet gas in the fuel cell stack. When the air and $H_2O$ flow rate increase, the stack power and system efficiency increases. However, the case of $CH_4$ flow rate increase, the efficiency decreases.

  • The fermentative conversion of food wastes into probiotic feed was investigated by seeding of mixed inoculum of Lactobacillus acidophilus and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. After grinding finely, optimal fermentation conditions for aeration was investigated at $30^{\circ}C$, The viable cell count of lactic acid bacteria and yeast during fermentation were monitored by controlling aeration rate at each different aeration degree of 0v.v.m 0rpm, 0.25v.v.m 100rpm, 0.5v.v.m 200rpm, and 1v.v.m 500rpm respectively. The most active growth of the yeast was shown at 0.5v.v.m 200rpm as $4.5{\times}10^9CFU/m{\ell}$. By controlling aeration rate, the pH of the probiotics feed could be controlled between 4-5 for the enhancement of preservation characteristics and acceptability for cattle feeding.

Heat Transfer and Pressure Drop Characteristics of Cross-Flow Plastic Air Heater for a Cooling Tower (냉각탑용 직교류형 플라스틱 공기가열기의 열전달 및 압력손실)

  • In this study, experiments were performed on air heater samples with three different shapes (chevron, wave and dimple type) to reduce the plumes from cooling towers. The tests were conducted for a range of frontal air velocities of 1~3 m/s and water flow rate 0.19~0.33 kg/s. The results showed that the heat transfer rate increased with increasing air velocity or water flow rate. The air-side pressure drop also increased with increasing air velocity. At the same frontal air velocity, the highest heat transfer rate was obtained for the chevron sample (1.5~1.7 times compared to that of the plate sample), followed by the dimple, wave and plate samples. The heat transfer rate per unit power consumption was also 15% larger than that of the dimple sample. On the other hand, there was no noticeable difference between the other samples.

  • Manufacturing Production System (MPS) has been widely accepted in construction area for the productivity improvement. However, the MPS does not always provide cost and time saving. It often caused more delays and increased project cost. Therefore the use of the MPS technique, systematic decision-making process is needed by reviewing various project parameters such as cost and time. This study includes extensive literature reviews and case studies on MPS. As a result, a decision-making model is proposed. The decision-making flowchart and decision-making model are developed in three steps: (1) identification and categorization of decision-making factors; (2) calculations of benefits, cost, and duration in accordance with the location and the production capacity of the factory; (3) comparisons of MPS and on-site assembly by varying the locations and sizes of the factory
