A Study on the Removal Characteristics of Indoor Air Pollutants using the Air Cleaning System (실공간에서 공기정화시스템을 이용한 실내 오염 입자 제거 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to determine the performance of a commercial air cleaner in removing tobacco smoke indoors. Following injection of tobacco smoke in a room, decay rates for particle concentrations were obtained far mass concentration at each point. The size distribution of the tobacco smoke particles was approximately $1.266{\mu}m$ in mass median diameter with a geometric standard deviation of 1.313. The air cleaner consisted of an electrostatic filtration unit and a fan operated at a flow rate of 5.98 CMM. The collection efficiency for $>1\;{\mu}m$ was more than 99%. Without air cleaner operation, tobacco smoke concentration ratio in room decreased to 30% of initial values within 30 minutes and with air cleaner operation, decreased to 90% of initial values in the test chamber, volume $51.27\;m^3$. Without air cleaner operation, tobacco smoke concentration ratio in room decreased to 10% of initial values within 30 minutes and with air cleaner operation, decreased to 30-70% of initial values in the test chamber, volume $149.2\;m^3$.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the structure of general filter using ultrafine filter (Profilter), dust collector filter, HEPA (HAPA-High Efficiency Particulate Air) filter, deodorized filters, etc. of air purifiers and to study new types of purified filters that can improve ultrafine dust, harmful gases, and sterilization cleanup performance. The study was also conducted by adding photocatalyst filters to the existing step-by-step filtration filter types, which were proposed in the design three coupling structure filters of the left and right UV-LED installation frames and the photocatalyst coating honeycomb frame. Future research is needed on the effect of photocatalyst filters. This study was to investigate the application and structure of photocatalyst filters to air purifiers.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the particle removal characteristics of a commercial air cleaner based on the electrostatic precipitator. The air cleaner consists of a positive corona precharger to precharge particles and a collector to remove the charged particles. The test for particle removal efficiency is conducted with tobacco smoke particles of 1.27${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in mass median diameter. The result of one-pass filtration test shows that the filtration efficiency is more than 90% for the particles larger than 2.5 Um, while the efficiency for the particles of 0.5~1.0${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in case of 4.18 CMM is 70%. For the test room of 5,800${\times}$3,400${\times}$2,600㎣, the concentration of tobacco smoke particles decreases up to 30% of initial values within 30 minutes due to natural reduction and up to 90% of initial values within 30 minutes with the air cleaner operation.

  • Due to the latest industrial flow comes mainly switch to high-tech industries, combustible metals as Al, Mg, Li, Zn more require to use for the aircraft, car, cell phones, electronics and others. As a result, Increasing the processing of combustible metals due to increase in amount of combustible metals giving rise dust explosions also. Most Explosions caused by combustible metal dust, occurred in air cleaning device of local exhaust ventilation to capture and store the combustible dust. Therefore, this study was conducted to present and analyze technically that deformation and rupture shape of air cleaning device structure by Finite Element Analysis(FEA) rather than a simple prediction, in case of explosion occurs in an air cleaning device.

  • 공기청정기 산업은 중국의 급속한 산업화로 인하여 대기오염이 증가되는 2010년 이후부터 중국 시장에서 빠르게 성장하고 있다. 중국 시장에서 소비자들의 요구가 다양해짐에 따라서 소비자가 원하는 공기청정기의 디자인이 무엇인지에 따른 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구로 중국에서 판매되고 있는 대표적인 공기청정기 제품의 디자인을 조형성, 심미성, 기능성에 대해 분석한 결과, 형태는 사각형과 원통형의 단순하며 시각적 균형감이 있어야 하고 색채는 무채색으로 제품의 안정감과 고급스러움이 있고 공기를 정화하는 기능뿐만 아니라 가습, 살균, 음악 등 다양한 기능이 있어야 함을 알 수 있었다.

Laboratory Tests for Trichloroethylene (TCE) and Toluene Remediation in Soil Using Soil Vapor Extraction (토양증기추출(Soil Vapor Extraction)을 이용한 토양 내 Trichloroethylene (TCE)과 Toluene정화 실험)

  • Column experiments were performed to evaluate the removal efficiency of soil vapor extraction (SVE) iota TCE (trichloroethylene) and toluene in soil. Homogeneous Ottawa sands and real soils collected from contaminated area were used to investigate the effect of soil properties and SVE operation conditions on the removal efficiency. In column teats with two different sizes of Ottawa sand, the maximum effluent TCE concentration in a coarse sand column was 442 mg/L and 337 mg/L in a fine sand column. However, after 20 liter gas flushing, the effluent concentrations were very similar and more than 90% of initial TCE mass were removed from the column. For two real contaminated soil columns, the maximum effluent concentration decreased 50% compared with that in the homogeneous Ottawa coarse sand column, but 99% of initial TCE mass were extracted from the column within 40 liter air flushing, suggesting that SVE is very available to remove volatile NAPLs in the contaminated soil. To investigate the effect of contaminant existing time on the removal efficiency, an Ottawa sand column was left stable for one week after TCE was injected and the gas extraction was applied into the column. Its effluent concentration trend was very similar to those for other Ottawa sand columns except that the residual TCE after the air flushing showed relatively high. Column tests with different water contents were performed and results showed high removal efficiency even in a high water content sand column. Toluene as one of BTEX compounds was used in an Ottawa sand column and a real soil column. Removal trends were similar to those in TCE contaminated columns and more than 98% of initial toluene mass were removed with SVE in both column.

  • 자동차 보유대수의 증가와 더불어 열악해진 도로환경으로 인해 자동차를 이용하는 운전자와 승객의 보다 쾌적한 자동차 실내 환경에 대한 요구가 점점 증가하고 있다. 도로 주행시 자동차내로 유입되는 공기 중에는 도로먼지, 석면입자, 박테리아, 꽃가루 등의 다양한 악성 미립자상 물질과 오존, 벤젠, 톨루엔, 포름알데히드, 암모니아, NOx, SOx 둥의 유해 기체상 물질이 다량 함유되어 있다. 특히 미세 입자의 크기는 대부분이 5.0 $\mu\textrm{m}$로 미세하여 인간의 상부 호흡기관인 코에서 폐포까지 깊숙이 침착되는 것으로 보고되고 있다.
