A Study on the Aerodynamic Diameter of Flame-generated Aggregates (화염에서 생성된 응집체의 공기역학적 입경에 대한 연구)

  • The relation between the aerodynamic diameter and some morphological parameters was studied for flame-generated aggregates. $SiO_{2}$ aggregates were generated from $SiCl_{4}$ in premixed methane/air flames. These aggregates were sampled and classified according to their aerodynamic diameter by a cascade impactor; moreover, computer program was developed and tested to find the equivalent area diameter and the fractal dimension of the aggregates. We calculated the parameters from the digitized images of the aggregate TEM micrographs. The aerodynamic diameters of the sampled aggregates were larger than $0.4{\mu}m$ in this experiment. In most cases, fractal dimension of their projection image was very close to 2.0 for these large aggregates. It was found that the equivalent area diameter of these aggregates was approximately three times larger than the Stokes' diameter of them.

Investigation of the Performance Characteristics of an In-Situ Particle Monitor at Low Pressures Using Aerodynamic Lenses (저압상태에서 공기역학적 렌즈를 이용한 In-Situ Particle Monitor의 성능특성 분석)

  • In-situ particle monitors(ISPMs) are widely used for monitoring contaminant particles in vacuum-based semiconductor manufacturing equipment. In the present research, the performance of a Particle Measuring Systems(PMS) Vaculaz-2 ISPM at low pressures has been studied. We generated the uniform sized methylene blue particle beams using three identical aerodynamic lenses in the center of the vacuum line, and measured the detection efficiency of the ISPM. The effects of particle size, particle concentration, mass flow rate, system pressure, and arrangement of aerodynamic lenses on the detection efficiency of the ISPM were examined. Results show that the detection efficiency of the ISPM greatly depends on the mass flow rate, and the particle Stokes number. We also found that the optimum Stokes number ranges from 0.4 to 1.9 for the experimental conditions.

  • Aerodynamic torque of wind turbine is highly nonlinear due to the nonlinear interactions between wind and blade. The aerodynamic nonlinearity is represented by nonlinear power and torque coefficients which are functions of wind speed, rotational speed of rotor, and pitch angle of blade. It is essential from the viewpoint of understanding and analysis of dynamic characteristics for wind turbine to linearize the aerodynamic torque and define aerodynamic nonlinear parameters as derivatives of aerodynamic torque with respect to the three parameters. In this paper, a linearization method of the aerodynamic torque from power coefficient is presented through differentiating it by the three parameters. And steady-state values of three aerodynamic nonlinear parameters according to wind speed are obtained and their nonlinear characteristics are investigated.

  • The objective of this paper is to investigate the flow characteristics of the multi nozzle. The configurations of the single, the 3- and the 6-nozzle were selected under Mach number of 2.5. Under-expanded pressure ratio such as 1.2, 1.6 and 2.0 were selected to elucidate interference of the free jet. The flow visualization was carried out with the Schlieren system and a supersonic cold-flow system. Also, the flow characteristics were studied computationally with the density measurements. Reasonable agreement between experimental and theoric equation has been achieved qualitatively.

  • Measurements of wind flow and pressure fluctuations induced by train passing on station platform have been conducted. Test conventional trains have a different nose shapes - bluff nose and wedged nose. The bluff nose train influence peak value of pressure fluctuations on station platform three times more than the wedged nose train for train speed of 108 km/h. Also, air flow induced by the bluff nose train passing is three times more than the wedged nose train passing. Current study shows that the gust induced by the bluff nose conventional train may threaten a passenger's safety on station platform in proximity to train passage.

Generation and Size Control of Particle Beams at Low Pressures Using Aerodynamic Lenses (저압상태에서 공기역학적 렌즈를 이용한 입자 빔의 생성 및 크기 제어)

  • Since it is not possible to generate spatially uniform particle distribution at low pressures in which in-situ particle monitors(ISPMs) are normally operated, it is of interest to investigate the response of an ISPM to particle beams at low pressures. The purpose of this study is to develop technique that can control the size of particle beams. In this study, particle beams were generated at low pressures by using identical aerodynamic lenses, and their shape and size were visualized by collecting uniform sized methylene blue aerosol particles on a filter media. It was found that the size of particle beams depends on the number of lens, the distance between lenses, and the downstream distance from the final lens. The size of particle beams decreases with increasing distance between lenses, and increases with increasing downstream distance from the final lens. The experimental results obtained in this work will be used to investigate performance of an ISPM at low pressures.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the aerodynamic characteristics of a vertical axis wind turbine blade as the basic study of a design of a vertical axis wind turbine. The lift and drag coefficients of the various shape of the vortical axis wind turbine blades are analyzed and compared using the CFD code Fluent. To validate the numerical analysis, the predicted results of the Fluent are compared with those of the Xfoil code and the experimental results. We conclude that the program Fluent can be used to predict the aerodynamics of the wind turbine blade. By comparing the predicted results of the aerodynamic characteristics of the different shape of the blades, an appropriate shape of the blade is suggested to design the vortical axis wind turbine blade.

  • 현재 우리나라 입자상물질에 대한 대기환경기준은 공기역학적 직경 10 $\mu\textrm{m}$ 이하인 PM$_{10}$ 기준이 연평균 70 $\mu\textrm{g}$/㎥ 및 일평균 150 $\mu\textrm{g}$/㎥이다. 그러나 영국의 PM$_{10}$ 기준은 24시간 평균 50 $\mu\textrm{g}$/㎥로 강화하여 입자상물질에 의한 건강피해를 줄이기 위해 노력하고 있다(EPAQS, 1995). 분진은 공기역학적 직경 2.5 $\mu\textrm{m}$를 기준으로 미세입자와 거대입자로 나누어지는 쌍극분포의 형태(Whitby et al., 1972)를 나타내며, 분진이 인체에 미치는 영향에 관한 많은 연구를 통해 10 $\mu\textrm{m}$ 이하의 입자가 호흡성 분진으로 인체에 더 유해한 영향을 미치고 있음이 밝혀졌다(Emison, 1988).   • 본 논문에서는 항공기의 제어 안정성(Control Stability)과 조종성(Controllability), 그리고 기계 하중을 줄여 구조와 공기역학적인 안정성을 향상시키기 위해 고양력장치(High-lift Device)인 플랩에 탭이 추가된 익형을 설계하였다. 이 과정에서 한정된 해석자원 때문에 많은 설계조건을 해석하는데 어려움이 있었다. 이를 해결 하기위해 얇은 익형 해석(Thin Airfoil Theory)을 이용하여 지정된 설계구속조건을 통해 시위선을 지정하고 이를 바탕으로 두께를 부여하여 최종적인 익형을 설계하였다. EDISON CFD 2.0 Solver를 이용해 최종 설계한 익형의 성능을 해석하였다. 이를 바탕으로 플랩만 존재하는 익형에 비해 양력손실률이 15%이하로 감소하고, 힌지 모멘트가 최소인 공기역학적 익형을 산출하였다.

Aerodynamic Properties of Granular Agrichemicals (입제 비료 및 농약의 공기역학적 성질)

  • Granule application with a boom has merits of accurate application and high field efficiency. In order to develop a boom granule applicator, aerodynamic properties of agrichemicals should be investigated. This study was accomplished to investigate aerodynamic properties of granules and factors affecting on them. The tested agrichemicals were urea, compound fertilizer (17-21-17), sand and zeolite. Basic physical properties of granules such as true density, sphericity, and arithmetic mean diameter for those materials were analyzed. Regression equations for pickup velocity (v$_{p}$) and saltation velocity (v$_{s}$) were proposed by the data transformation and the multi-regression analysis as follows : (equation omitted) where, 0< s < 1, 0< λ$_{i}$< 3, 35 < D/d$_{p}$ < 350, 1000 $_{p}$/p$_{a}$ < 2500 The range of pickup velocity of fertilizers and other agrichemicals were shown to be 10-16m/s and 9-13m/s, respectively. The saltation velocity of fertilizer and other agrichemicals were 3 m/s and 4 m/s, respectively.y.ively.y.y.
