This paper presents a self.levelling system for a mass, which undergoes a severe acceleration, with integrated displacement feedback control. After a general description of such a system, theoretical analysis is investigated to design an active control device. The self-levelling system can be used to reduce the "quasi-static" deflection while isolating the "dynamic" vibration. A computer simulation model of 45 kg with two air spring mounts is considered to predict the performance of the control system. Important control parameters were acquired to meet the requirement of the system. The results showed the controller can reduce the displacement of the mass to the level of about 1/5 after control. Thus the self-levelling system can be applied usefully to reduce the displacement of a mass which experiences a high g dynamics.
Air springs are prevalently used as suspension in train. However, air springs are seldom used in automobiles where they improve stability and comfort by enhancing the impact-relief, breaking, and cornering performance. Thus, this study proposed a new method to analyze air springs and obtained some reliable design parameter which can be utilized in vehicle suspension system in contrast to conventional method. Among air spring types of suspension, this study focused on sleeve type of air spring as an analysis model since it has potential for ameliorating the quality of automobiles, specifically in its stability and comfort improvement by decreasing the shock through rubber sleeve. As a methodology, this study used MARC, as a nonlinear finite element analysis program, in order to find out maximum stress and maximum strain depending on reinforcement cord's angle variation in sleeves. The properties were found through uniaxial tension and pure shear test, and they were developed using Ogden Foam which is an input program of MARC. As a result, the internal maximum stresses and deformation according to the changes of cord angle are obtained. Also, the results showed that the Young's modulus becomes smaller, then maximum stresses decrease. It is believed that these studies can be contributed in automobile suspension system.
Purpose of this study is to develop virtual components and environment for developing a controller of an Active Air Suspension System in laboratory that slough off existing development environment using real vehicle test. This paper presents an air spring modeling and analysis of air suspension system for a commercial vehicle. Preferentially, It was performed vehicle test for pneumatic system and an air spring for characteristic analysis of system. Each component of an air spring suspension system was developed through emulations and modeling of system for pressure and height sensors in the basis on test results in SILS environment. Non-linear characteristics of air spring are accounted for using the measured data. Also, pressure and volume relations for vehicle hight control is considered. After performance verification of virtual model was performed, we developed virtual environment based on HILS for an Active Air Suspension System. We studied estimation and verification technology for control algorithm that developed.
This paper investigates the control performance of the proposed hybrid mount system for vibration isolation table. The hybrid mount system consists of an air spring as a passive device and a PZT stack actuator as an active device in series. The feasibility of the PZT stack actuator as an active actuator was examined through the simple experiments. After that, a series of numerical simulations were carried out to evaluate the control performance of the proposed hybrid mount system. The equations of motion of the table with a set of hybrid mount systems consisting of four devices are derived. The air spring is considered as a 1 spring and 1 dashpot elements, and PID control algorithm is adopted to estimate the control force. The results of the numerical simulations presents that the proposed hybrid mount system could be the promising control system for vibration isolation table.
The acceptance test of KTX has been performed in Korea. During the test, lateral vibration of carbody over the accepted value called swat was found. KTX has 20 car trainsed formation whose trailer cars are linked by articulate bogies. So this study is performed to see the effects of long trainsed formation on vehicle dynamics and the train stability by 20 car vehicle model. Firstly the reliable vehicle model which shows well the tendencies appeared in the tests on the high speed test line is required to find the cause of lateral vibration and the countermeasure. Vehicle model was made for the analysis with VAMPIRE. The analysis results show that secondary air spring lateral stiffness is the most significant parameter to cause carbody lateral vibration. Mode analysis results show that he least damped mode shape is similar to the vibration pattern shown in the tests that the amplitude of the motion increases along the train set and decreases in the tail part. For the case of short train formation with 7 or 10cars, sway does not happen. But in the case of longer train formation with 16 or 20 cars, sway was found.

This paper presented comparison of vibration characteristics of a 5-ton truck at the two kinds of rear axle suspension, a conventional leaf spring suspension and an air spring suspension. Vibration at the selected location in the freight compartment and the rear axle were measured while the vehicle was running on various kinds of road at the specified speed. At all kinds of the driving conditions used in the test the air spring suspension showed good performance of vibration attenuation, especailly at the frequency range of under 5 Hz.
In this study, we performed the static analysis of a cord-reinforced rubber airspring and generated the three-dimensional half-symmetry model which use the finite-strain shell elements to model the airbag. the three-dimensional hydrostatic fluid elements to model the air-filled cavity, and the rebar elements to model the multi-ply nylon reinforcement of airbag. In addition, a three-dimensional rigid surface is used to define the contact between the airspring and metal bead. The air inside the airspring cavity has been modeled as a compressible fluid satisfying the ideal gas law. The conclusions of this study are as follows. 1) In the pressurization step of analysis, we could predict the change of vertical reaction force, cavity volume and pressure within the airspring. 2) In the second step of analyzing vertical static stiffness, the increase of the vertical load increases the vertical stiffness. 3) In case of changing the angle of nylon cord, the increase the angle of nylon cord increases the vertical stiffness.
One-touch fittings are important components that can make a quick and tight connection between pneumatic pipe systems. In this study, the stress analyses with various working pressures on these one-touch fittings are carried out using finite element method. Material properties, to use the stress analyses, are measured by the universal tester and digital Vickers hardness tester. The stress analyses on the circular shell spring forced by various pressures(100, 150, 200, 250kpa) and on the main body due to the fluid-structural interaction are investigated. Results show that the stresses of one-touch fitting are concentrated to supported part of main body and the soundness of a circular shell spring with maximum pressure 250kpa was confirmed.
this paper concerned with the stress analysis of a diaphragm-type air spring which consists of rubber linings nylon reinforced rubber composite. The analysis is carried out with a finite element method developed to consider the orthotropic properties geometric non-linearity and contact between an air bag and a bead ring The material properties are evaluated with the Halpio-Tsai equations and the rule of mixture. The analysis results demonstrate the variation of the outer diameter the fold height and the vertical force with different models to the design a proper diaphragm air springs.
